So guys to add another question to my above comment, do you guys think Jewel would really cheat on Blu if she was given the chance?

I mean, I know Blu obviously would never cheat on her (unless Jewel cheating on Blu did happen, in that case I would like it if he payback-cheated with a female Scarlet Macaw or at least just leave without saying goodbye, instead of the stereotype where he fights Roberto/Jewel), and I'm pretty sure Roberto would never stoop THAT low since he's already got a whole horde if female fans swooning over him already, but I just pose this question because I'm curious, is all. That and the way she interacted with Roberto in the movie before, during, and after the Beautiful Creature musical scene. If you saw the movie you would know what I mean.

By the way, I think the Blu-and-Jewel-cheating-on-each-other-Jewel-with-Roberto-Blu-with-scarlet-macaw thing would actually make a great fan fiction.

Oh, and by the way this does relate to and is combined with my Blu-and-Jewel-Fake-Love comment above.

[up]Her personality was given to you in the films. Everything aside from what is shown, is your personal head cannon. In the films, she was shown to be hot-tempered, and freedom-lovin'. But never was she shown to be unloyal (in any meaning of that word). In movie #2, she refused to leave with her father, saying "Blu is my family, I will not leave without him".

Ask yourself: will a character such as that cheat on her huss-band?

The answer is no.

Unless someone writes a fanfiction where she acts out of character for the sake of unnecessary drama.

There, I answered your question. Now where is my cookie?

P.S. In Real Life, burds are pretty much monogamous (with a few exceptions here and there, but not here).

Alright, Alright. Here's your cookie. Sheesh! It's PEANUT BUTTER! [nja]

Besides I guess I just keep making up all these questions and posts out of a mixture of boredom, reading WAY too much Fan Fiction, and as something to keep the activity of this part of the forum going.

Oh, by the way we need pictures of the main Rio characters to put on the Character page. Can you guys do that? At a minimum, I would like photos of the main cast (Blu, Jewel, Nico, Pedro, Rafael, Linda, Tulio, Fernando) If you guys can do that, thank you. I may have been here long enough, but i still am discovering some concepts, aspects, and other stuff on editing on TV Tropes.

You know, I kind of been reading a lot of Rio Fanfiction recently, mostly stories about after the losing game at the Pit of Doom, with the following happening:

1. Blu is pretty much expelled from the tribe and is a social pariah, especially to Eduardo.

2. In a few of them, Jewel actually does cheat on Blu with Roberto (or in LS Series Story X by yootisposhil moves on from Blu after he leaves and gets married to him).

3. Blu leaves either tearfully thinking his family doesn't want him anymore or angrily because of Jewel's actions of neglecting him.

4. In a few of them Blu goes psycho, turns to the dark side and kills, or at least seriously injures, a number of characters. evil grin

Here are the Fan Fictions that have these by Story names.

Rio: Fallout / Forgive Me

Rio 2: Breaking Point (my current favorite)grin

Rio 2: Selfish Love (uggh.. hated this one)sad

Rio: Where I Belong

Rio 2: Adventures After The Match

I know what you're thinking. You think I'm obsessed, well, I'm not okay? OKAY?!?!?! I just really like the quality of the stories that they make. Besides, I have way too much free time on my hands, what the hell am I supposed to do? Besides, I have actually been reading fan fiction since I was in middle school, anyway, WAY before Rio came out.

[up] You know what, You're right. I should just stop looking up Rio so much and getting involved on Tv Tropes so much. Rio's time of discussion has past and now we must move forward.... which is why I am going to try my best and not post any more posts on this page, stay off the fan fiction for awhile, stay off Tv Tropes for awhile (or at least any of the pages that have to do with Rio), stay off the Wikia's related to it for awhile, and to also get more immersed with the other interests that I have, like exercise, video games, Disney, Pokemon, the news, basically ANYTHING THAT'LL HELP ME GET OFF MY RIO ADDICTION!!!!!!

Sorry about the caps on both my posts today, I was just feeling energetic.

Okay, looks like it's time for me to act like a huge nerd.

I decided to take a nap in the day (for health purposes). In the 2 hours I was asleep, I managed to have a dream based on the two Rio movies, and another one with me using my limited kung fu skills to fight a bunch of thugs.

Speaking of Rio. The dream was definitely influenced by Mystery Incorporated, and maybe Brazil. I do not exactly remember what the main plot, or conflict was, but the main portion of the dream was about Blu, Jewel, their kids, and the super chill toucan dude hitching a ride inside a plane's cargo compartment to get to Rio. Blu cannot fly yet. This portion of the dream was in first person, and I was Blu. I wake up from a dream within a dream, only to realize that out stop was missed. The plane was now flying away from the place. But it was a matter of life and death, so we had no choice but to fly down. So, I have to jump down first (unexpectedly brave btw) and improvise on the way down. Eventually, I manage to figure out how to fly.

The second portion is not in first person anymore, and I am myself, watching the film. Some major events go down, and all the major characters get accepted into the burd society of Brazil (weird, but go with it) and an award ceremony (for something) it taking place in a pretty but abandoned palace (Rio has palaces??). And before the ceremony ends, some ancient conspiracy is uncovered, and stuff ends on a cliff hanger (certainly inspired by Mystery Inc).

An interesting part was at the end, where a peacock lady (at the ceremony) mentioned that she was so nervous she was sweating. I (in the dream) said to whoever was watching with me: "See? That is inconsistent writing often found in movies! Before, Blu explicitly mentioned how birds cannot even do that, and here the writers simply forgot!"

And then the kung fu fighting dream.

So... yeah.

[up][up][up][up] About that argument Blu and Jewel have near the The Climax, can't anyone say that Both Sides Have a Point?

Just watched Rio 2, and the aforementioned conflict, while not as bad as I imagined from what I read, is still very biased. Jewel calls out Blu for "thinking of only himself and not others", at the same time completely ignoring how uncomfortable Blu feels in the jungle and how abusive her father is with him. The resolution of the conflict is not a compromise - it's that Blu decides to give up his civilized lifestyle just like how Jewel wants him to. To be fair, she does ask him in the end whether or not he misses his civilized life - but instead of making that an emotional moment and admitting that yes, he does miss it but he's learning to accept the jungle life, it's Played for Laughs with him saying that yes, he's totally accepted the jungle life, then freaking out about a bug or something.

He's also in an episode of Rick and Morty as a sentient gas cloud named "Fart". And just like in Moana, he sings a David Bowie-esque song. He also did the same in Steven Universe, where he played the singer Kerry Moonbeam, though there he doesn't have any dialogue, only a song. Basically, whenever you need a Bowie impersonator, Clement is the man for you.

[up][up][up] "completely ignoring how uncomfortable Blu feels in the jungle and how abusive her father is with him." But exactly how aware was Jewel of what Blu was going through? Can't you say she was Innocently Insensitive?

It's sadly a typical trope that it's usually the husband who is being pecked in the relationship like that.

Its like all the worst stereotypes about marriage in media.

All the way down to a horribly abusive father-in-law and the wife does little to nothing to curb her father's blatant abuse towards her husband.

It sucks too because in the first film they're balanced with slapstick and acknowledgement between Blu and Jewel. See also Hotel Transylvania for another perfectly balanced characters being maligned.

Oh yeah I remember the second film of that.

Mavis wanted to uproot her family and to move to her husband's hometown against her husband and son's wishes out of a misguided sense of overprotectiveness and Johnny isn't allowed a moment to honestly say his feelings on the matter.

Despite being the father he's treated as more of a joke with Dracula being vocally against his daughter's coddling.

Yeah, "happy wife, happy life", i.e. the husband should follow the wife's wishes no matter what, is not a very good lesson about marriages or relationships in general.
