Accepted.
Avatar SourceI'm trying to remember, are harpies ever depicted with powers or not?
Pretend there's something clever written here.I don't think so...
Avatar SourceJust loud screamy voices, I believe. Though I kinda recall them being vulture-like scavengers somewhere?
Exist, pursued by bearThey can fly.
@Sir Screwloose: Dungeons and Dragons gives them Charm Person songs, IIRC.
The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the groundNot Charm Person, specifically.
They seem to have gotten Harpies confused with Sirens, though.
Avatar Source-Checks the Monstrous Manual-
Hm, apparently the tl;dr version is 'the affected person walks toward the harpy and when close enough stands there and does nothing while the harpy eats him.' Then again, that's D&D, and they sometimes play fast and loose with their sources.
Yup, they got harpies and sirens confused.
Avatar Source- Name: Kinpatsu Shiraha.
- Age: 17.
- Sex: Female.
- Species: Tauric Gryphon (that is, a centaur, except switch the horse parts for gryphon parts).
- Appearance: From the waist upwards, Shiraha looks like an ordinary girl; sporting blonde hair and tan skin, she is noticeably lean. Her eyes are like an eagle's, and her nose is very much beak-like.
From the waist downwards, Shiraha has the body of a Gryphon; that is, a four-legged lion's body with eagle's legs up front. Ranging from her shoulders to the middle of her Gryphon body's back, she has two wings, coloured like a bald eagle's. The wings are enormous — when fully spread, they range five metres from tip to tip. - Personality: Surprisingly bubbly for someone who spent most of their lives in a distant mountain village. Shiraha is friendly, but more than a bit impolite — she says exactly what she thinks about people. She likes shiny things, sports, eating, and, surprisingly enough, participating in tea ceremonies.
- Abilities: Nothing beyond what her body can do; that is, Shiraha can fly, is a good sprinter, and her claws are quite wicked.
- Extracurricular Activities: Tea Ceremony Club.
- Backstory: As hiding a 2.5-metres-long human-Gryphon hybrid amongst normal people is not really practical, the Kinpatsu clan settled in a distant mountain village in the Kumamoto province in Kyushu, where the villagers accepted them, hundreds of years before Shiraha was born. She was born in that village, and lived most of her life prowling in the mountains around. When Myouren Gakuen was opened, Shiraha's parents were delighted that her daughter will finally be able to see the wider world, and sent her there post-haste.
You appear to have made up a creature by fusing a Greek mythological entity with another Greek mythological entity, using a Dungeons and Dragons template (of all things) named after another Greek myth. Add on to this that they somehow seemlessly integrated into the Japanese countryside several hundred years ago with no attempts at hiding. The backstory does not work, the creature does not exist, and they seem too sueish. Not accepted.
... seriously, if you're going to start playing mix and match monsters, don't use the D&D monster manuals as a source, and certainly don't use something like a gryphon. :|
Avatar SourceCould just call it an "undifferentiated monster" and have it look the same.
Anyway, It looks like I'm not gonna be able to join this after all. Don't have asmuch free time as I thought, and I tend to prefer R Ps with more of a central plot, anyway.
Have fun, and I'll see you around.
Pretend there's something clever written here.
Woops, must have skimmed over it, sorry ^-^;
Editing it out
Edit: Done, I think this was even better than the bullying backstory. I also forgot about the fact that sometimes Kappa have carapaces, but I thought of a different way to incorporate that on her as well.
