Once Upon A Time in Wonderland

The Wonderland-centric spinoff of Once Upon a Time has a trailer;

Getting some American McGee vibes from the opening. While I have yet to see OUAT, this looks pretty darn cool. Except for the Red Queen's costume, which just looks weird. Pretty good CG for a TV show budget, too.

this totally looks like it's going to be expanding on the once formula into the wonderland times. Celebreties voicing important characters (well, minor celebs.), green screen wows. Interesting insinuations of the "real girl" in the fantasy land, diabolical fairy tale villains, and romance being a strong part of the show's foundation.

Cool. It's like Angel and Buffy. only, softer.

Is this seriously what they're calling it though? Recycled In Space much?

The best part of the Once Upon a Time episode where they went to wonderland was the characters of the Red Queen and the Mad Hatter. (It was a great episode.) In the trailer of this we don't see the Mad Hatter and the Red Queen is changed for what little we see her. I don't know if this is going to be worth it. Another thing, what is it that they always try to make the Alice character boring looking.

Sophie Lowe is not boring looking.

I just find it refreshing that Alice isn't blonde for once, as weird as that sounds. I haven't seen Sophie Lowe in anything before, but it looks like she can act, so let's hope the writing is decent.

Sophie Lowe's a well known Australian actress, and she's done some important films and television series over here dealing with some difficult material. I think she's most famous for Beautiful Kate and The Slap, where she played sympathetic teenagers who were actually really selfish to the point of being horrible.

Re: the Red Queen.

Actually, this could be a clever work around on the writer's parts. Lewis Carol actually did 2 different alice stories, and there's no certain way to know if the queen of hearts for the book In Wonderland is the same queen as the Red Queen in Through the Looking Glass. For all we know, Cora took the term Queen of Hearts in order to fool to part of wonderland she controlled. It's possible it could be perfectly legitimated. Still though, I got to admit I'm not fond of the current red queen design either. Maybe she'll have a changing wardrobe like regina did?
