Personally I lean toward the first image because it makes a fun mirror between competing games, showcases an extremely popular song, and is far more eye catching and clear than the screenshot of Cleaner. Not only that, that particular version of Cleaner is a doubles game. Because a doubles chart always shows all ten arrows at the top it may confuse people unfamiliar with the game into thinking that this game is always played with ten arrows.
For those who don't play, Cleaner is a mid-tier boss song. Canon D isn't a boss song unless you're doing it on the full version mode in which case it's a Boss in Mook's Clothing to put it mildly. I respect the fact that Cleaner is generally considered harder than Canon D on regular mode, but feel that Canon is a better overall representation of what Pump It Up is to the fans than Cleaner is.

Very nice analysis. I admire the insight you provided and the time you put into this while withholding bias. From a purely visual standpoint, I like the first one better because the blurriness of the second is visually displeasing. Although the second one holds merit on its own, I would go with one. Or perhaps another image could combine the best parts of both.

Check out my fanfiction!+1 for the girl.

- 1 for the girl.
That's good enough. I'll tag the page that the current pic is being kept; locking up.
The dancing Game Pump it Up has two possible images, one longer-standing than the other. Which should be the one that sticks on the main page? Thoughts?
Possibility 1 (older)
Image caption: Five arrows, beautiful animation
Reason chosen: It mirrors how the DDR page shows an iconic female character by showing an iconic female character. Many people state they prefer Pump It Up due to the music involved which encourages them to improve their skills despite the difficulty of the game. The image showcases and links to Cannon D, a very iconic song featured in many versions of Pump It Up. Seriously, this song has cosplayers (one, Two)
Possibility 2 (new)
Image caption: No, this is not going at the speed you think it's going at. Its much worse.
Reason chosen: Showcasing how hard Pump It Up can be by showing a fairly well known difficult stepchart called "Cleaner". As a side note, as doubles charts go this one is actually merciful: There actually are far worse out there. This game really does get very hard with some charts meant to be unplayable.
