I love Ryuko, Mako, Satsuki, and Gamagoori. I think they're all adorable characters, in their own way.
If Satsuki wore a cute fluffy clown suit I would cuddle the heckity heck out of her.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?The last ED made it pretty clear to me that, when she's not exerting her authority, Satsuki is actually a puppy.
I sure said that!I'm watching the first four episodes of the show for a planned review and I have to ask.
Is this a parody?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Maybe? I don't know if its intent was supposed to be parodic, but I think everyone involved was fairly aware of how utterly ridiculous the concept was.
It might be. I mean, it gets deadly serious at some points, but there is more than a bit of Tongue in Cheek humour in the story.
One Strip! One Strip! It's such a shameless parody that it comes back around to being serious again. Yes, the hero fights in a garter-belt bikini. Yes, even the most innocuous clubs are full of murderous superpowered psychopaths. Yes, the local Mr. Exposition spends much of his screentime stripping naked for literally no reason. But in the end, it's a Coming of Age Story with real lessons about living in the shadow of your parents and having friends.
Sounds like Warhammer 40,000.
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue. It's pretty much modern day Cutey Honey, really.
Watch SymphogearDo you think it is a pastiche?
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."Kill La Kill kinda defies specific classification beyond being a comedy-action series that happily borrows and pastiches elements from a whole bunch of genres.
I sure said that! The way I see it is that Kill la Kill was an Affectionate Parody that turns into a serious work when Ragyo and Nui show up.
Which is why it's very satisfying when Nui gets her arms cut off.
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue. My aaaaaaaaarms!
God, that was a funny scene.
It's been fun.Nui getting owned at all was satisfying, Nui seemed untouchable when she first debuted and after that episode she didn't seem so smug.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."Bah. It wasn't that funny.
Here. I'll prove it:
And now, in English as well:
...Right. I knew full well that was legitimately funny. I was just looking for an excuse to post those clips.
One Strip! One Strip! And neither clip is available in the States. Thanks, Sony Music.
What?
Seriously?
Edit: Oh right. I'm in Canada. Well, guess I'm lucky.

One Strip! One Strip!Lucky Canadians......
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."I first started wondering if it was a parody somewhere around the second episode because it seemed so...over the top, so exaggerated that I thought it was making fun of the usual anime tropes.
Also, after watching the first four episodes, I've decided to watch the series.
Shame that the fourth episode could be called a filler episode...

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Hey the producers needed to come down from the adrenaline high of the episode three, same as the rest of us.
And even then, it still filled to the brim with adrenaline.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."Episode 4 is made with a shoestring budget and it's still pretty damn funny.
You want to see what a real skippable Episode 4 looks like, watch Gurren Lagann. THAT is a bad episode 4.
It's been fun.I don't remember that one. ^_^;;
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue. The thing is, it introduces Kittan and his sisters and elabourates on the combining premise so, despite its problems it still provides important info.
"or how she dresses, because she's too amazing for you to care"
I want to see her pull that off in a clown suit. And not the scary kind, a genuine cute fluffy clown suit.
Also, in a fursuit.
Also, holding a baby. That just pooped itself.
If she manages to retain her dignity and might in those situations, without coming off as The Comically Serious, I will worship her for life.
