I think Manga Satsuki has slightly rounder features. That might be it.

Then there's that really poofy helmet hair thing going on with the top of her head.

The most consistent complaint I've heard from people around the net is that the manga makes the whole thing too "soft". That's a big of a vague term, to be more in-depth: character designs are much softer-edged, view-point angles have a tendency to make people look smaller or actions more contained than they should, main characters are far, far calmer and quieter than they really are, fights are shorter and less destructive, and main characters tend to be more ineffectual if that makes sense, as in, Satsuki and her crowd don't really do much and the likes of Aikuro and Ryuuko are far more easily intimidated, plus Ryuuko pulls out her sword on the One-Stars (though she knocks me all out just by doing that elaborate spinning in sheathing trick, so there're those points back for style) and not even trying to make a rush past the Boxing captain before retreating (though that might be just common sense kicking in early). The manga is basically "Kill La Kill light: mildly hurt la mildly hurt"

It could be simply too hard to capture the KLK style! Maybe only the filmmakers can do it.

Meh, the Manga isn't that bad.

I don't really see the big deal about the manga.

I like the way it looks.

Yeah, it just different from what we're use to.

It's alright. Just a few minor nitpicks here and there and They Changed It, Now It Sucks! mostly.

on the subject of Kill La Manga:

I would agree that slight change in character designs seems to have a big effect. Making characters more rounded wasn't good. I would say the mouths are to small also.

It does seem difficult to capture the energy of the original. Honestly, I think that is the biggest thing. You just can't capture the action like you can in animation. Also, it's staying so close to the original it just feels like a pale imitation.

What they should have done for a spinoff was a SOL AU where Ryuko tries to get her info by running for student council with Mako as her campaign manager.

Just to add to my previous comment, I like how not only does the first page of the manga is inconsistent with the anime, but then is inconsistent with the manga itself.

I actually kind of like the manga, if only for Ryuko's wonderful facial expressions and constant running.

But yeah, Anime Satsuki a lot better than Manga Satsuki. And personally anime-to-manga adaptations seem...I don't know, it's like by taking something from an animated medium to a more static one takes something away from it. I guess it's...not really needed? I dunno.

Anyway, how many hours 'til the next episode?

Starting from 1:43 onwards on the OST track "Ne L Lna KI 9". The very first thought when that passed through sounds like I'm listening to Starcraft's (or 2) Zerg theme.

Not that I want to encourage a crossover, though...

In other news, I just realized with this show effectively being a magical girl parody...that makes Satsuki a prime Dark Magical Girl, my life...

Despite being an objectively horrible parent, both of Ragyo's kids actually turned out pretty well surprisingly enough.

I think the olympics are delaying this for everyone.

.... guys, this is bad news, but I think this will be the norm for Crunchyroll with this show now. We will have to wait until this evening to see this episode, and the remaining ones until the new season starts.

.... how do the Olympics in any way have anything to do with Crunchyroll!?!?!? This is the effect of a foreign site leaking episodes online before the Japanese air them!

Ryuko maybe, but that's mainly because Ragyo didn't raise her.

Satsuki on the other hand was planning her murder when she was five :P

Where's everyone getting the "episode is gonna be delayed again" thing? Nothing up on Crunchyroll that says it's going to be delayed. They got the counter ticking down, there's an hour left before the episode's release.

Well, the episode is being delayed by 40 minutes in Japan, I know that much.

And on the subject of F/SN, Kiritsugu may be the worst unintentionally abusive parent.

yet she still ended up with a loving surrogate butler dad and 4-5 close friends in the Devas/Iori.
