I was just about to make this thread. Guy was a legend.
dead devotionI don't know that I've ever actually seen any of his work, but I know that he was indeed a legend. Sorry to hear he's passed on.
RIP indeed Ray.
Rest in peace, O giant.
The creatures he made looked incredible.
Essentially, without him, the very notion of a "special effect" wouldn't exist. Seen parts of Jason And The Argonauts, with the Skeletons. Still holds up pretty well.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!I like to think he was called to a pantheon by Laser Zeus.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatI haven't seen a lot of his work but Jason and the Argonaughts is simply amazing. RIP.
Am I a good man or a bad man?Oh hell.
Things don't get much better in the field of stop-motion animation than his works in Jason and the Argonauts and Clash of the Titans.
He will be missed.
And The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms. Don't forget that one's [[{Godzilla} influence.]]
Without that man, it's possible people would never even have imagined how well film can make the unreal can mingle with the real. I sincerely hope his long life was full of happiness, because he deserved it: he's more than just a legend.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. That's overstating it. He learned his craft from King Kong as an assistant under another FX legend. People knew how to do stop motion and other FX. Harryhausen just raised it to an art form.
Mighty Joe Young still holds up, though.
