Taking in mind the Hercules TV series is a midquel, where the heck does Icarus go to during the last half of the movie? I can see Cassandra stepping aside while Herc goes being a real hero, but I have a hard time NOT seeing Icarus following him around through those times being his number one fanboy. I mean, I know the movie can't help it since it came before the series, but is there an in-universe explanation?

Could Pixar ever include toys of the Buzz Lightyear series-only characters in a future Toy Story movie or short? Or is there any legal or choice reason why they wouldn't do it? In-universe, it stands to reason they'd also make toys of Mira Nova, Booster and the others.

I would love to see the Star Command toys go off against Nos-4-a2 but Nos-4-a2 is different from his show counterpart(just like zerg).

"American"??

[up][up][up] Hercules Zero To Hero is a lot like The Emperor's New School, they kind of use the movie as a base, but don't bother sticking to movie continuity, often for laughs.

Putting either show into movie continuity doesn't work very well.

Lady And The Tramp isn't set at the time of its release (1955). It's set in the late Victorian/Edwardian period.

[up][up][up][up] German, but I have travelled America and watch enough American shows to be able to recognize American Pop Culture if I see it (Psych was especially educational in this regard), even if I don't always get it. In Aladdin are a couple of jokes which you don't necessarily get if you grew up in another part of the world, and if you add the 20 years, they are even more confusing.

Yeah, I agree, though to be fair, the animation and performance makes a lot of the things Genie does pretty funny even if you don't understand the references. I think Genie's brand of humour still works in a similar way to old Looney Tunes shorts, which have a lot of references to contemporary cinema and politics, but still generally hold up because of the energy and delivery is right.

Back when I first watched the movie, I had no idea who Rodney Dangerfield was, and I still found Genie's mannerisms funny.

The Genie references things that were out of date by several decades when the movie was released and was still a big hit, so accusing it of being dated now seems kind of silly to me.

... really??

Jack Nickelson, Arnold Schwarsenager, Rodney Dangerfield, and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade anchors June and Harriet references were out of date in 1992??? From my memory, they were all still very active and working!

Those weren't the only things he referenced, you know. Or maybe you don't, which would kind of prove my point.

You don't think I'm aware that I only referenced like 5% of the entire references the Genie made!? My point is that not everything he referenced were outdated by decades in 1992.

Does anyone think the phrase "Disney is the new PIXAR" is not without merit? I ask because I just saw the latest trailer for Big Hero 6 and it looks like it might be the most adult themed film between the two studios.

I also notice that Disney is quickly beginning to take more risks with their films too. It's much less like "the Disney film about X" and more like "the Disney film with midlife crises" or "the Disney film that deals with sibling death"

[up]Thank you very much....I have avoided the Big Hero 6 discussion lately because I DON'T want any spoilers. How about telling the ending, too?

Disney seems to be the new Pixar purely because they have had 2 animated films released in a row without a Pixar film in-between them thanks to Pixar delaying the development of The Good Dinosaur, and with Lasseter and Catmull heading the creative department now, Disney films are feeling more and more like Pixar films.

[up][up]Not in the one I saw and I deliberately don't look out for all of them because I really don't want to know.

[up]Yes and no...it is more like Disney assimilated some aspects of the Pixar movie into their own style. But it is still very much Disney. Perhaps it is even more Disney than it has been for years - this used to be a company which took risks after all.

Wasn't Pixar originally "the new Disney"?

[up][up][up][up][up]Dude, I'm all against unmarked spoilers but that wasn't some kind of hidden clip or tvspot- it was the theatrical trailer. Which has already gone viral since yesterday. Heck, it is listed in plain sight on our very own TV Tropes page! So that's no so much of a spoiler as much as it is the entire plot of the film.

[up][up][up]I'd say it's much less the fact that Pixar is taking a break, which I fully support their decision to do so, and more like when comparing the last three films put out between the studios you can definitely tell which is more ambitious. The last three Pixar films, while somewhat fun, consensu stands that they were much less in their A game material of strong emotional storylines and more comedic and light hearted. Disney's, on the other hand, are both light hearted while also balancing the strong emotional adult themes. I can see that Disney might be "returning to roots", but Pixar was inspired by them and having them continuously challenge the studio allows them to return to a tour de force.

[up]I know right? Pixar challenges Disney, but Disney inspired Pixar.

[up]It is not part of the theatrical trailer I saw, and I don't care if it went viral or not, this is not the Big Hero 6 threat where one should expect something like that. I was able to avoid the information and now it just got sprung on me.

Then....I apologize that you feel that way. But it's technically not a "spoiler", at least as far as forum rules are concerned.
