Speaking of unexpected stuff Disney owns and distributes, it's kind of ironic that the Detective Pikachu movie is going to be distributed by Universal now that Disney XD actually airs the anime in the US.
As a matter of fact, Disney XD is actually the only kids' cartoon channel that still airs significant amounts of anime as part of its lineup. Nick Toons has Digimon, but they don't really do much with it, whereas Disney has Pokemon, Yo-Kai Watch, Doraemon, and Beyblade Burst.

Nicktoons also has Yu-Gi-Oh.
It's been 3000 years…Do they still even have Doraemon, though? Is that still on?

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Toonami.
I didn't know Toonami was suddenly its own kids cartoon channel.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I'm counting it as part of the Cartoon Network channel, because even though Adult Swim is by all accounts a separate network, it shares the same channel.
And yet it's not target at kids. Yeah, it shows anime, but it's more of a niche thing than what Disney XD does.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Sadly, the only way anime in America becomes mainstream is if it's aimed at only kids.
Actually it isnt. No one wants to do anime for kids anymore. Tell me one post Bakugan new brand anime that got popular by aiming it at kids. ONE
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Uh, Yokai Watch?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? Its off the schedule and no one cares about it anymore. I dont mean it unkindly BTW, Im sorry for being rude. I love Yokai Watch and I wish it had indeed been a success.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. It's pretty successful though?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?In Japan it is but the general reaction to it in the West has been fairly lukewarm from what I've seen.
Anyway the point is moot because, despite what some will tell you, Dragon Ball Super aims at kids and that has been incredibly successful.

This song needs more love.Yeah. The deal here is the West. I will concede that its successful enough in Latin America where it still airs at least.a lot. I really hope that it keeps being dubbed despite the apathy it has in the USA.
Its on Adult Swim in the USA. Dragon Ball Super airs on Adult Swim. Also I said post Bakugan new brand. Dragon Ball is its own beast.

Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I don't know if it still does but Super used to first air at like 8:30 EST on a Saturday night which is like right after Cartoon Network's normal programming and well withing the range for kids to watch it but I see your point.

This song needs more love.I also knew you were going to mention that airing but it got removed. Now it solely airs at midnight.
However there IS a happy medium for both of us to be right! ADULT SWIM JR. No, really! They even made a promo. I really hope its true. Because then more anime would indeed be aimed at children, which despite my earlier cynicism would indeed be quite welcome.

I was cynical only because I really love it when anime thrives with children and I was sad that it didnt.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.once again there is no Adult Swim jr,it was an April fool
New theme music also a box"No one wants to do anime for kids anymore"? Tell that to Disney XD.
Um actually no Super doesn't air at midnight. It airs at 10:30 PM EST.

Shower thought: If literally any major other studios bother to make more animated movies with female leads, Disney wouldn't have such crap throw at them for their "Princess" movie. From 2010-2017 alone, Disney is the only animation Studio that consistently has film with female leads roughly equal ones with male leads: 4/7 (Tangled, Frozen, Zootopia and Moana). That roughly equal the amount of Pixar's entire films portfolio (3 out of 19 films) and quadruple Dreamwork entire film portfolio (1 out of 35 films) (Sony has 0 film out of 14).

Wait wait stop...Disney does more heroines... and THIS gets them criticism that evades other studios that DONT have heroines at all most of the time? WTF? I like what Swanpride, I think it was Swanpride once said, that Disney may be all about princesses but at least they HAVE Heroines at all!

Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.A lot of criticism is Disney keeps making and marketing their female characters Princess, which is only supply and demand as 8-12 y.o. girls like being princesses.
I recall Lindsay Ellis also pointing out that much of recent Disney tends to stick the female protagonists with male co-leads, rather than female friends.
For instance, I remember finding it a little unusual that Moana didn’t seem to have any friends or siblings near her age. Later I found out Taika Waititi’s draft had her with many siblingsnote , but they were all cut out of the final film.

I don't know where the criticism comes from, but nowadays, movies headlined by heroines are very marketable. The last two Disney Canon films to today both have a strong female in the lead, and said characters were extremely well received. Plus, you now have movies like Wonder Woman.
And this is after older films like Beauty and the Beast and Mulan did the same thing with their female leads.
