Free! (KyoAni Swimbros!)

So that animated swimming PV has turned into a full-fledged anime.

What are your thoughts?

I'm hoping it's the most fabulous thing I've ever seen. If it has Mamoru Miyano, I'm sold.

There is a title for the series, you know.^note It's called Free!

Actually the title literally is "Free"... Which makes searches for this a little more tricky than "Working!!" Oh, and there are five of them, rather than the four we saw in the Animation DO CM, because apparently this guy transfered out (compared to the other four who just went separate ways in the same location).

The internet-wide reaction to this show has been hilarious. Shippers gonna ship, but I myself am simply looking forward to some gorgeously animated, hot, half-nekkid anime-boy eye candy .

Sadly, there's a whole lot of unnecessary drama now about it. Double Standard at work once again, except this time, we have likely gorgeously animated show about guys, and the otaku are freaking out? If it was about moe girls, no one would blink.

I've learned to ignore the whining of butt-hurt otaku over the years, or at least to laugh at it. Arguing against that brand of stupidity is just headache inducing.

I didn't have very high hopes for the quality of the story, but I've been looking into the staff and it actually looks fairly promising. The director did two of my favorite episodes of Hyouka, and the guy in charge of series composition has worked on a variety of shows (Hataraku Maou-Sama!, Aquarion Evol, Steins;Gate, K-On, Toradora!).

Color me tentatively excited.

I can still see traces of that distinctive art style they've been flogging since K-On. I still await the return of the sharp lines from the first season of Haruhi.

It'll take me weeks to stop laughing at /a/.

Damn it, I'm going to have to watch this and ship all of them and I don't even want to! But how can anyone help it?

It is gorgeous in many ways, but I care nothing for swimming so I hope the characters have fun and diverse personalities and interactions.

I just found out that Kyo Ani staff is female-majority (for a long long long time?).

I still want my Haruhi Season 3!

The anime itself doesn't look like it's for me.

x5 Shingeki can be slapped on everything. There's even a parody done using nothing but a post about how you can't use the Shingeki Opening with everything.

Yeah about the Double Standard. Some people are acting as though the only thing Kyo Ani released or is releasing this year is Free! .

I'll probably try to watch it in tandem with Kon (third attempt).

I know. I'm just (over) protective about Titans.
