Ep 3 is up.
Sasha is getting hot potatoes for a job well done. Frankly, I don't remember if that was in the manga or if they're just running the meme here.
grahThat moment where they all meet up with each other because they couldn't find the hole.
I love how what should be good news (we didn't meet any titans and found the other team) is still such cause for flipping shits (because it doesn't make sense that neither side found the hole).
And the beast is still unleashed too. Watching this animated is gonna be a real treat.
One Strip! One Strip!Huh, they skipped the scene where Ymir laughs at Conny for thinking the titan kinda looked like his mom, then we find out she can read a foreign script (and that she's lesbian incidentally)… I liked that scene. And it was pretty important foreshadowing.
And yeah, I don't think the potato was in the manga. Neither was Sasha in that scene, for that matter. A nice addition.
They still do an excellent job at building up the quiet tension.

I get the feeling that the scene with Ymir will probably be revisited and expanded next episode. It's got too much plot important information to not do more fully. I suspect it was just put in there as a dramatic stinger.
That's my thought as well, since I also thought it was odd to skip it.
One Strip! One Strip! So I looked back into this hearing the new season was out and although I haven't watched it all yet. The only thing I saw was Mike's death scene....
And holy fucking hell that was the most fucked up death scene I have ever seen in this anime so far. I read the manga so I knew it was going to happen but the thing about the manga is that it did not show him getting torn apart directly. And our previous experiences with the death scenes on the anime was that they'd cut away from the scene once the screams start or the titans grab people.
But no instead they showed it directly from his point of view as he was screaming, pleading, and in agonizing pain while crying in fear.
Just....damn, they did the absolute horror of that scene disturbingly well. It actually made me afraid of the Titans again. If this is how rest of the death scenes will go in the anime (and I know other people do die this way later on) then I am not sure if I will not get more nightmares.

The whole thing with the wine bottle is one of the most mean spirited Brick Jokes in the history of anime.
And the Beast Titan knows that being a villain is like being a good photographer: You have to choose the right moment.
One Strip! One Strip!Oh, so they did come back to that scene. Good. And yeah that was both horrible and hilarious.
Christa wants to die a noble and dignified death. She obviously doesn't realize what series she's in. Really liked Ymir in this episode − you can see there's only one thing she cares about, but she cares about it a lot.
Also, the "I scraped my finger" line was sweet as hell.

Which line? If it's the second one, you can thank Funimation and their very first dub of Dragon Ball Z before they grew the beard. That's a line right out of Dub Vegeta's mouth.
One Strip! One Strip! The Brick Joke I mean. Though that too.
Oh. Well yes.
The saddest part is why it was used up. Though in hindsight, the fact that he smacks his head against the ceiling and gets knocked out in mid rant (and thus dies whilst unconscious) is actually both more funny and more horrible.
It just happens so quickly you know. that you'd easily miss it.
One Strip! One Strip!There's enough Nanaba screaming in the following scene to make up for it. ;-;
grahThis is true. This is very true.
By the way, do we have any confirmation on Nanaba's gender? I'm still somewhat unsure.
One Strip! One Strip!Cannon fodder.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! That's a state of being, not a gender.
One Strip! One Strip!I'm pretty sure she's a she, at least her voice would make me think so. Yeah, there's Hanji, but Park Romi has a pretty deep voice…
Are you sure?
Also, episode was fantastic. Castle Utgard is such an amazing part of the story. Do you guys think the season will end with the reveal of the Coordinate?

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! Most likely. With twelve episodes it should fit in there just in time - and judging by how Mike's death was animated, we're really going to see Hannes show his guts once Smiley returns. I imagine Erwin's conversation with Pixis & the reveal/confirmation about the titans will be the last scene.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyWas Nanabe's death animated? Kind of hoping not after I saw Mike's death and how the manga showed that Nanabe did not die fast. The other guy was the lucky one....
It cut out before we saw too much detail, but we heard her (turns out Nanaba is female) right up until the last moment.
One Strip! One Strip!she...does not die quick or easy. Outright screaming for her father before one finally bites her head off.
Oh no I knew that she didn't die quick. The manga showed some of it and it wasn't fast. One of her limbs got pulled or bitten off while two titans were literally pulling her apart like those old horse torture practices...
I was just wondering if they animated it like Mike's as I know it would of looked just as horrifying as his death. The other guy had it easier as they just bit his head off in the manga and from what you guys said he got knocked out here before they ate him (which didn't happen in the manga).
Edit: So I watched Nanabe's death and yeah it was pretty disturbing albeit nowhere near much as Mike's. What I also found disturbing was her yelling No, father I won't do it again! until that titan wrestled her into in it's palm and bit her head off which has some....disturbing implications. Abusive Parents....?

"Historia" is up.
I loved everything in this ep. The weird distorted music when Ymir is dancing around the titans, the sheer look of dread on Reiner and Bertholdt's faces, together with the former's spacing out, that Marco was in...
And then there was that beautiful Christa at the end of the ep.
And the next ep will be the even bigger Shifter reveal.
grahThis season really does a wonderful job at transcribing the "calm before the storm" atmosphere. And when the storm starts, boy it does. I didn't quite expect them to render the "casual reveal" that way, but it works pretty well. The CGI Colossal Titan, not so much. :x It's the first big visual fail of this season.
Ah yes, the moment Sasha established herself to be metal as fuck. I have been waiting soooo long to see this animated.
