I've no idea, keep in mind that it's being done by volunteers in their own vehicles and they're not being paid.
"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranOverall I'm pretty hopeful for the referendum. There's talks of people flying home in droves to vote Yes, and it seems that a lot of young people have registered to vote. I was a little nervous for a while (the No campaign has a pretty loud presence on RTÉ) but I think it should pass. Hopefully.
'All shall love me and despar!'Just from skimming the literature about it, it seems that most commentators predict the No vote to do much better than polling suggests, like it did during the divorce referendum, but not to be ultimately victorious.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiIt seems that's going to be the case, but we can't be sure until the votes are counted (I believe by tomorrow afternoon?). Anyway I'm really nervous because this could be a big moment for this little island, or it could just prove that we haven't come as far as we thought in the past decades.
'All shall love me and despar!'BBC is reporting an overall high turnout, which should turn out well for the Yes side given the polls.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. It's not official yet, but tallies are saying we passed it.
"With 40 (of 43) constituencies having now declared, the Yes vote is 62.3% and No 37.7%. The number of Yes votes is 1,128,209, with 682,932 votes for No."

We did it. I've never been prouder to be Irish.
Cute little story from my constituency too.
I mean, it might be about the presidential age election too, but still, it's cute.
Oh, the sweetie-poppet. Actually counted: no. Opinion noted: YES.
Being homosexual in Roosia is suffering: In pictures
I can't stop to think that the Anti-LGBT crowd in Russia is either state sponsored or at least condoned by the state.
Inter arma enim silent legesWhat do you mean? There are no homosexuals in Russia. Putin said so!
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesI thought Iran held the title of the only gay-free country in the world. Ahmadinejad told me so.
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.Yaaay first legalized cohabitation union (Link in Spanish) in Costa Rica. Cohabitation will give the right to share pension, make decisions and have a right to visit if one of them is interned at a hospital and other you know really fucking basic rights of a human being.
Of course "experts" have come about to point out it is inconstitutional, and someone will likely contest it.
But it seems like the legislation is in motion and something will have to come out of it. Either it is deemed inconstitutional and more time will have to pass before the Family Code is altered, or the constitution is upheld above this, leaving an opportunity for same sex couples to acces these basic rights
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesThis is the only English link article I could find. A recent Valentine's Day commercial from a famous Perfume and Cosmetics Brazilian brand, the Boticario, got caught up some flak from the more conservative over a rather innocuous commercial depicting a homosexual couple buying their perfumes along straight couples.
The country of tanned tities and asses and casual exotic sex still has deep issues with treating homosexuality as something normal and the more conservative sectors, specially among the Universal Church members (Evangelists), crying and complaining over the ad undermining the "traditional family values".
Hooray for my country making me proud...again
Inter arma enim silent legesSo uh. Apparently Miley Cyrus came out as Bisexual.
...complete with pictures of her naked save for body painting.
Helpful stereotype, Miley. Real pro move.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesTo be fair she wasn't exactly thought of as wholesome before she came out.
Yeah, this could easily have been totally unrelated.
An Australian couple have vowed to divorce if same-sex marriage is legalized by their government; because apparently marriage as a whole will be ruined if the gays get to do it.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Hopefully their children will learn from their horrible example.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswOh no. Whatever will the government do. If they divorce, it will be a disaster.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesY'know, when homophobes are all "gays getting married will ruin my marriage" It's not usually a threat, so points for originality.
Given that there are rumblings of discontent from the coalition back bench about Abbott's refusal to even allow a conscience vote on the matter (okay, this is among all the other rumblings of discontent from the coalition back bench) it's entirely possible that if it does come to a vote, it might just pass, even if only to spite the Mad Monk.
If it does, I will dare this couple to go actually put their money where there mouths are and go through with it.
Maybe what they really want is to finally marry their secret same-sex lovers. Isn't that romantic?
