I think they wanted to start off Lost Galaxy with a clean slate besides a few cameos and things like Mega Voyager, but then the Pink Ranger sadly had cancer, which changed their plans again. I wonder how the original plan for LG was supposed to look like.

Also, Terra Venture's purpose was to scout out new worlds. Taking aboard aliens would be normal as long as they were friendly. That still serves the purpose, so Maya is likely just a case of that, though the lack of explanation is a bit annoying.

Power Rangers has never been particularly thorough when it comes to covering those kind of questions. Part of it is their innate reliance on Sentai Footage, and definitely trying to justify and explain their various powers takes priority. Lost Galaxy had the Quasar Sabers and the Galactabeasts with seemingly two distinct origins and never explains why the Rangers helmets match the different zords (in fact if you include the Lights of Orion, Lost Galaxy seemed to have the most variety of power origins on one team).

Most of the time even explaining how an Oddly Small Organization is able to design, build and repair a fleet of Zords is ignored (like Zeo, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, Operation Overdrive, Jungle Fury).

[up]It would be preferable if it was a sequel.

Lost Galaxy isn't so weird in that it's possible to infer a link. in that the Sabers, Beasts, Transdaggers and Lights are all things Scorpius was pursuing, and we know the sabers had been used in a war thousands of years ago. One can infer that Scorpius knew/had a list of things from that war he was gunning for.

Plus the team with the most diverse source of powers is the Zordon Era team, since it's mostly a continuous team with rotating members (You could draw a hard cut at Turbo, admittedly, where everyone but Justin is replaced)

That's a hard cut running from when Justin replaced Rocky in The Movie through to when the rest of the team got replaced in Passing The Torch.

They weren't mixing and matching different powers, they were generally pretty clean on each set of powers being connected or at least designed to work together. As such the White Ranger was not part of the original MMPR power set but he was still designed to work with their powers, justifying (via hand wave) the Tigerzord.

In contrast, the identity of the Gold Ranger was a mystery to everyone, but had a scene where they affirm the power signature of the Gold Ranger matches their own. They don't explain HOW and as Zordon and Alpha personally developed the suits and Zords it doesn't make sense how the Gold Ranger matches their design scheme and a Zord designed to work with their zords.

Lost Galaxy just never made it clear in that way. Quasar Sabres, Galactabeasts, Lights of Orion and the Magna Defender all seemingly had different origins. There was a similar issue with the Shogun Zords and the Battle Borgs, as those were explicitly different power sets but still matched the animals of the Ninja Zords and could interface with the Falconzord.

Where exactly DID the White Ranger powers come from? I know Zordon made them, but wasn't it established that Ninjor made the Power Coins? How were they able to make a new coin without him? I'm pretty sure Ninjor was asleep or whatever till the rangers awakened him in Season 3.

My guess is since Zordon and Alpha had the coins, they were able to study them and duplicate the process. Zordon is a wizard after all.

I'm personally more curious of the Green Ranger coin's origins.

They were originally a set of six but the Green coin was separated from the others when they were hidden in the Desert of Despair, according to the wiki.

I always assumed the white power coin was from the set where the power of thunder came from, but that the other coins were destroyed. No basis really, just something to tie into Dairanger.

Of course this leads to the question of why when the OG power coins were depowered by Rito, Zordon needed them to find Ninjor if he already could make powers from scratch.

The assumption is that Zordon and Alpha know HOW to create a new Ranger, but without a proper power source it is a time consuming process that required the Command Center to be powered down, and presumably the White Ranger powers were tied in directly to the Command Center instead of being its own coin. The original dino coins plus White Ranger powers were damaged beyond repair due to a power surge in the Command Center. Much later, once they had the Zeo Crystal as a stable new power source, creating a new Ranger team was easy.

Speaking of creating new powers, what do you guys think of the fanon that Billy created the Turbo powers during Zeo?

Possible! I wouldn't take things as far as The Sentai Review has, though.

At least I can still be surprised by the order Power Rangers uses episodes, like dropping Megaranger #49's monster into the middle of the season and saving Megaranger #23 for near the end. Of course this time I bet some of that was done to make it seem as if the Astro Megazord never became unavailable for use...

[up] huh. Didn't expect Tommy and Kat getting together to be canon anywhere after Dino Thunder practically erased that relationship.

You know they need to do a Super Sentai/Power Ranger crossover thing. I mean the latter is just the Americanized version of the former, but just think that maybe Power Rangers is the American division of the Super Sentai. That would be a good concept to think about.

[up][up] There is such a thing called "reconnecting". Besides, Kat and Tommy will both appear in this year's anniversary episode. Maybe Kyle knows something we don't.

Oh I'm sorry, I see now that it's Gingaman meets Starship Troopers. grin

Have you seen Project Hexagon? You can download scripts where Kendrix would have been replaced by Cassie, and the script for the first episode is bundled with the "original" plan for the season early on.

After Shattered Grid, Kyle Higgins is leaving the MMPR title, and with him goes the MMPR team. It's all change with not just a new creative team ( Marguerite Bennett and Simone Di Meo) but a new roster of Rangers, Tanya, Andros, Magna Defender, Rangerslayer, Talon Ranger, and Cam

It's like they just plopped random parts of Earth on the ship including a random cave with the LOR.
So Scorpius might have been attacking Earth already if not for Terra Venture accidentally scooping up a piece of land that happened to contain the Lights of Orion! [lol] (because they dropped the "Solaris 8" thing from the script, I hear)

[up] Well, it is supposed to feel like its own proper planet, just way smaller. It has various areas for that. Mountainous region(with a volcano), forest areas, etc.

Though to say the least, this is more of them justifying the source footage, and it actually does it well. It's kept a simple explanation but works.
