Isn't that more of a Visual Pun?

It's not quite obvious enough to count as a Visual Pun (but it thus qualifies as a Stealth Pun)

I'm good with that.

It doesn't need to be obvious to be a Visual Pun. Still, if it fits the hand, the glove works.

I'm not really seeing any reason why a pun can't be both Visual and Stealthy.

Anyway, could we caption it with "The Rest Shall Pass"?

"Garfield does not settle for/on only half a rest."

Garfield happens to be on Cut a Slice, Take the Rest too.

So maybe something like "Cut a Slice, Take the Whole Rest"?

As far as Garfield's concerned, he might as well be wearing a fermata.

I'm partial to the caption in post seven.

@m8e: I wasn't saying it can't be both, just that it might be easy to confuse the two.

Prefer caption in #7.

That was actually slighly directed at Septimus Heap's comment that it didn't count as a Visual Pun because it isn't obvious enough and it thus qualifies as a Stealth Pun.

It's too bad that the snore Z is there because I just had a good caption idea:

"He's stone dead!"
"No no, he...he's resting!"

Mine too.

Seems like we have enough of a consensus to run with the OP, so it's up, potholed, and tagged. Crowner for the caption options, or keep brainstorming?

Nah. Anything that points out the Stealth Pun kind of defeats the purpose. :)

I think it'd be nice to give the non-musically literate crowd a clue on what this means.

That's going to make anyone who does know the distinction point and laugh at you (and not at the pun). It's like science jokes. They have be primarily sound, and secondarily funny.
