I don't know, they were able to have Illyria on Angel and her makeup looked pretty intensive.

Also, he was put together in his current state by HYDRA, who I can't imagine cared about his wellbeing beyond its ability to let him continue to operate as a murdercyborg.

Now that he's more fully with SHIELD, I could imagine them try to cut down on how much work goes into his appearance and justifying it by SHIELD fixing him up to the best of their ability and improving his overall appearance in the process.

Plus, they could always use some of that hologram tech to make him look totally normal in general scenes, then have him give his true appearance in action scenes.

Hell, that'd make for a great scene where he meets Ace for the first time in ages while hologrammed, then has to reveal what he really looks like. Cue his son accepting him anyway.

It's been forever since we've seen Ace. How old would he be by next season, anyway?

Hard to tell, since Ace's age is never mentioned. around three years older. I guess when we see him again eventually, he will be a teen and not this cute little boy.

Idle thought: it's Self-Fulfilling Prophecy time!

Gonzales was concerned that Coulson's secret project entailed the militarization of enhanced individuals. He was motivated to prevent Coulson from making this team of superpowers.

As of the end of season 2, partly as a consequence of Gonzales's actions to prevent Coulson from assembling such a teamLISTEN , Coulson now possesses a militarized team of superpowers.

Alas, poor Gonzalez. He died trying to be halfway decent and now the goal he devoted the last bit of his life to has failed.

His legacy will be the guy who was a false flag and also had an amazing voice.

I miss him but I know he's in SHIELD heaven with Victoria Hand and that one guy that got Deathlok stomped, playing cards forever.

Hey, that guy Deathlok stomped didn't die. He's just in a coma.

Yeah, they said Agent Blake was in a coma. I mean, that was still in Season 1, but they never said if he lived or died, so I assume he's still in a coma.

It would be funny if, in Season 3, he just walks into the base and is all, "You guys totally forgot about me, didn't you?"

That made me think of Bob, Agent of HYDRA, for some reason.

He's a Deadpool cast member so he's probably too surreal for this show, but just the name alone makes me wish he was part of the HYDRA arc, somehow.

Maybe one of Ward's new henchman is named Bob.

And Ward just stops and says 'Bob' to himself in an incredulous tone a few times whenever he introduces himself.

Secret Wars is introducing Hank Johnson: Agent of Hydra as a new Bob-type character without the legal connections to Deadpool and the X-franchise. We might get to see him.

Ballin'.

I think someone brought up Deadpool appearing on this show - and at this point, why not? Just use Wade Wilson instead of Deadpool.

How much would Deathlok cost to put on screen, really? He's got some facial scarring, some chrome-colored, sci-fi hockey pads, and he has some CGI missiles. If all that is too much for this show, well... then I wonder what the budgets are like on Walking Dead, because they've got more going on in the costume and fake body mutilation departments. Hell, wasn't AOS's first season impressive right out the gate, Coulson's car taking off, Peterson's Hulk-leaps, etc.

Even if that is too much money for Season 3, that Disguise-O-Mesh stuff is as good an excuse as any to bring down the costs of having Deathlok on screen.

And for the next random thought: Seasons 1 and 2 took some of the run-off from Marvel Phases 1 and 2. Extremis, Chitauri Plot Device 1-3, the Staff. What else can they lift from Age of Ultron? Ultron head fragments? Maybe a piece of Ultron dormant in the net, because as several reviews have pointed out to me - Ultron's "thing" is never truly dying, and his death in AOU was somewhat anti-climatic, if beautifully painted.

There's no new Hulk films planned last I checked - maybe some lead-in as to what became of Banner, where he ended up.

[up] I think even if they technically have the TV rights for Deadpool, and I'm not sure if they do, I'd be very surprised if they used a character on the TV show that they don't have the movie rights for.

I don't think the cost associated with having Deathlok on-screen is a serious problem. It's just a matter of if the actor is available and wants to be an Ao S series regular.

On another note, I wonder if there are going to be any other comic characters on Skye's team. One or two of the other members of the Secret Warriors perhaps?

This entry is rather pointed:

Take That, Audience!: An extremely blatant example in the Season 2 finale to the fans who believed Ward's tragic past excused his villainous actions. Since The Reveal these fans gathered under the hashtag #standwithward. In the episode Kara states that based on said tragic past "I love him and I will always stand with Ward". This is treated as a clear sign that 33 has gone off the moral deep end and is preceded by a Kirk Summation on exactly why using one's tragic past as an excuse for one's clearly wrong actions does not make one a good guy.

And the grammar implies haste. I get that Ward's not a popular character as of late (not unlike a certain recent portrayal of Barbara Gordon), but come on, really. At the very least this needs more objective wording.

-

Just looked up the Secret Warriors, finally, and the Wiki says that they were alluded to in the finale, referred to as "caterpillars". I didn't hear that but... okay.

That son of Ares guy sounds promising, and maybe Yo-yo.

[up]It was on the file Skye was holding.

Also, I read through all of Secret Warriors and would be beyond excited to see the team from that book added to the cast, even as secondary roles since adding so many characters would be insane.

Huh? Where is Barbara Gordon The Scrappy? ...oh, wait, you meant Barbara Keene on Gotham, not Barbara Gordon Batgirl.

The difference, I think, is that the writers obviously mean for Ward to be hated. They have been setting him up as the villain for a long time, since the end of Season 1. I know a lot of fans thought they were going to redeem him, but I don't think that was ever the case — and the end of Season 2 confirmed it.

There is a contingent of Ward fans who call themselves Stand With Warders - they used the hashtag #standwithward and they absolve him of pretty much all blame. So that was a reference and a pretty blatant Take That towards that part of the fandom.

I've seen this sort of thing happen before. The irony is that in order to absolve the character in question of responsibility, he/she needs to be stripped of all agency. All their failures and crimes are blamed on what someone else did or said. But since almost everything they do is connected to a failure and/or crime, then the only agency they would have is deciding what to have for breakfast in the morning.
