Episode 03 was preetty interesting. However also strange - looks like French tv channels air series in randomised order. Today the girls suddenly pulled out a magical arena pocket dimension in which to fight. And their wands turned into straight-up weapons - double-sided scythe for Talia, a sword for Iris and a ribbon we saw in the previous episode for Auriana. They did that all casually like they're used to.

One of the anons in /co/ suggested the episodes are being aired out of order and this episode was actually s1e9.

Not quite. What he said is that #109 is the production order, but not necessarily narrative order. Last week's second episode also still had narrative gap of Iris suddenly getting very good at magic.

I'm not looking it up because I don't want Google registering me as a potential sex offender or something, but this is an actual show? Actually named that? Airing internationally?

Airing in France, yet, but an English dub is all set to go. So far three episodes have aired and /co/ is currently translating the third.

edit: First episode was good, charmingly cheesy. I really like Talia and Ariana. It was weird how they had a huge concert out of nowhere though.

I have watched the first episode with english subs on youtube, but I can't find the other episodes on youtube.

I'll wait till the dub gets out. Want to hear Sunset Shimmer have to learn the "power of friendship" again.

Looking at the visuals though, is this show kind of inspired by Revolutionary Girl Utena?

I'd say it's closer to Fresh Precure personally. Auriana's transformation is quite close to Love's.

As someone who doesn't watch the Precure series, I'll take your word for it.

Ones he other hand, Precure has their girls beat the shit out of their monsters with hand to hand combat this side of Dragon Ball before finishing them off with a magic attack.....

True, these girls resort to crystalline danmaku more often than not.

^^Certainly makes a much better viewing.

Even as a child I never understood why Sailor Moon got scared when she could just blast the monsters.

I haven't actually watched Precure since Futari Wa, but it immediately jumped out at me as being very Precure-like as well. There's definitely more action to it than older series like Sailor Moon or Wedding Peach.

I was more reminded of Lilpri and Winx Club. I find European magical girls shows have a slightly different style than Japanese magical girls shows.

Lilpri? That never came to Singapore, so more info pls :D

Finally got to watching episode 1. I'm almost bewildered at how closely they copied anime framing style

4th Episode to air seems to be chronologically s1e2.

Japan is known to have a helping hand in helping the French with some of their animation... This is no surprise, nor should it be, IMHO...

Needs translation ._.

I decided to punt, and watch the first episode and I gotta say I enjoyed it. I liked the transformation sequence (I definitely agree with the people who said there was a Pre Cure vibe to it), and the animation overall is really nice.

I don't really understand why they need to be a pop group, though. If they fought using Magic Music, I would feel it would be justified, but right now it feels kind of tacked on. Maybe that changes later.

It's a shame that the singers themselves have been auto-tuned like crazy, Iris's French VA has a really pretty voice and from what I've already seen of the English VA's, they're incredibly talented as well.

Gonna buckle down and watch ep 1 tonight.
