Apartmentstay - A SBURB RP (Interest/Signup)

• SPOILER ALERT* This RP includes MAJOR SPOILERS for Homestuck. If you don't know what Homestuck is, or are only partway through reading it, then this RP is not for you. All spoilers will be left unmarked.

You are a 13-year-old human (NOT A TROLL) living a normal(ish) life, and you love Homestuck. Andrew Hussie, much to your dismay, hasn't updated, tweeted, or done anything on the Internet in one month, for no apparent reason. People across the Homestuck community are starting to get worried. And in his boredom, one fan traveled the darkest corners of the Internet- and found a file called SBURB.exe . And it actually works, down to every detail. Including the meteors.

You and your Internet friends are all scrambling to get a session set up and all enter before the world ends. It's going to end no matter if you play or not, and no non-Homestuck fan believes it. So why not play the game?

Rules and Gameplay: I shouldn't have to explain any of this to you, as you've already read Homestuck.

A few rules when signing up:

• You cannot be a troll.
• Only one player per class/aspect, unless we get over 12 players.
• We will not start until we have a hero of space and a hero of time.

About that... It seems pretty barebones, can I elaborate on it? (SBURB RP's typically go so far as to say guardian, typing quirk, and more.)

I'll add a bit more to the sign-up sheet, but humans don't have typing quirks.

Are you going to fill out that sheet?

For ill-defined if not outright unknown Classes/Aspect (combos) how will the effects be decided? I'm curious what a Destroyer of Nothingness would have for powers. Either way, would the Classes Lord/Muse be barred? Can we reserve a Title for our characters?

A prince can also fight WITH his aspect, so I'd imagine his powers are black-hole themed. The other class/aspect combos can be decided by the players. As for your other questions, I'll put a ban on Lord and Muse, and will let you reserve a title as long as you make your application within the next 12 hours.

Considering that this RP takes place in a version of the real world where SBURB exists, I was thinking we could ignore captchalogue cards and focus on more important stuff. Other than that, your app is good.

EDIT: Also, it's been established as canon that all Space player's lands are "Land of ___ and Frogs".

Well, pretty much everything in SBURB itself is kept over. I'll ignore sylladexes, and the characters use Pesterchum mostly for the novelty of it. Also, our session will be much more... normal (for SBURB) than the one in Homestuck. There may or may not be aliens, which may or may not be trolls.

Oh... ok. I think I'll back out, because it sounds like it won't be as interesting as I thought.

Just because we won't run into interdimensional demons on the first part of the game doesn't mean it'll be boring

What I'm implying is that our session won't be a reenactment of the one from the comic. The Homestuck session is abnormal because of Jack Noir obtaining unlimited power, and the kids not going through aspects of the game such as fighting Denizens, or the Black King. Any session of SBURB is exciting, the one in Homestuck is just different.

What about the Green Sun and creatures powered by it? Will there be no God-*Insert Animal* messing with us?

Good point. Maybe the First Guardian of the session could be created from one of the characters' pets with the paradox clones?

I'm about three-quarters through (Act 6 Act 2). Will the game contain spoilers past that part?

• Gender: Female
• Appearance: Brown hair to the middle of her back, fair skin, glasses.
• Personality: A somewhat isolated person. She doesn't like talking to people, so most of her friends are through the internet. She is very into the fandom side of the internet, and will often pick up a new book or anime, go straight through it to the exclusion of others, before going back down to a normal level of fandom obsession. She particularly likes magical girl fighting shows such as Nanoha or Madoka, and Britishy entertainment like Monty Python and Discworld. She oscillates from cynicism and cheerful fangirl often.

Name: Maya Hanove
Gender: Female
Appearance: I prefer pictures to description, if that's alright.
Personality: A thirty year old woman compressed into the form of a teenage girl (not literally you weirdo). Maya has almost supernaturally developed maternal instincts, and is possibly the single most annoyingly nagging thing any of her friends have ever known. She has her friend's best interests, or what she thinks are their best interests, at heart and she will take every opportunity to harp on them about what they should and shouldn't be doing, morals, their diet, her concern for them, the list goes on and on. She can get quite obsessive about this, and has extensive charts tracking down every bit of information she acquires on them. She's definitely loyal and trustworthy, and assuming one can put up with her incessant need to act like everyone's mother, she's probably the one of the more reliable members of the group.

This maternal complex is rather unstable, given that Maya is still essentially a budding teenager and thus has not developed the actual maturity necessary to effectively handle her instincts. She's prone to being a doormat, not knowing when to say no or enough. She overloads herself with responsibility then shuts down or freaks out under the pressure. She's prone to ignoring herself and being very sloppy in her self-maintinance, which negatively impacts her self-image and self-respect.

She has few hobbies, most of which are related to her exaggerated maternal complex, so the gamut of skills needed to keep a house orderly and running. She only even reads Homestuck because her friends do. Her 'guardian' is actually her sister younger than her and the beneficiary of Maya's care.
