1. You do not want to look up anything about this show. No spoilers, no previews, no trailers. Especially no descriptions on any websites. Nothing.

2. You will try this show. Track down a copy of the first episode. Maybe a friend tevo'd it, maybe catch a repeat. We'll wait here while you watch it.

3. You liked it right? Yes, yes you did.

I clearly loved it. It's possibly one of the best pilots I've seen in a while (tied with the pilot to Utopia, which you might also want to check out), and I'm hearing that that strength continues into the next few episodes as well. There's a Breaking Bad quality to the show, with the way it'll put its protagonists into difficult situations and watch them squirm their ways out. It's tense, it's occasionally funny. It's got BRITISH ACCENTS.

You want this.

Discuss below.

I love it. I'm hooked, and the cast is fantastic, Tatiana Masley most of all. Also, it's set in Toronto! And unlike, say, Rookie Blue, it's proud of that.

It's a little funny, because while American science fiction tv is mostly on the decline, Canadian science fiction is just booming. And it's great.

1. Actually, looking up background information is pretty crucial in knowing about a show as a whole, so yeah, I DO want to look up EVERYTHING about this show. The fact that information is rather hard to find on it is rather disheartening.

2. Okay, got me there. The fact that it was after Doctor Who certainly helped.

3. Eh, I'm actually more confused than anything. Hence why I'm trying to look things up.

It certainly has my attention... I am very intrigued, wondering where it's going.

I'm definitely intrigued, though the entire mystery of the first few episodes was kinda ruined by the trailers than ran all over BBC America.

I do have to wonder what Tatiana Maslany's real accent is. And is Vick played by the same guy as Vaas?

Was there some Artistic License – Biology in their discussion of fingerprints in episode 3?

Yeah, I don't think fingerprints are genetic. But... eh.

So the killer is the original DNA source, then. Or could she be another clone?

I really like this show, but how the hell do the writers not know that finger prints are not identical?

EDIT: although thinking about it, maybe it's not as much as a Wall Banger as it seems. Identical twins wouldn't have matching finger prints, but since they're all legit clones of each other, it kind of makes sense.

It is either a science blunder or a hint. If their fingerprints really are close matches, that implies that they are closer copies than identical twins. Which means they are not just a case of someone 20+ years ago splitting an embryo up at the 16 cell stage or whatever, but instead a technique with greater fidelity. I.. do not know what the heck would give you copies that faithful. Nanotech fabrication? Kidnapping from alternate timelines?

The fingerprint thing is a lot easier to accept when you realize that they all have the same teeth, as well.

Of course, there's the problem (noted on the work page) that Beth's prints should be in the database, which should have caused problems a while ago.

Bah. Not enough chatter.

I just have to say that Tatiana Maslany is just fucking amazing.

[up] That.

I'm really amazed at her ability to play so many different characters with so many different accents and make them all seem like very different people, especially when they're impersonating each other. I find Sarah amazing, because when she's impersonating Beth, you still hear her English accent creep into her speech. Same with Helena when she's pretending to Beth, but she can't get the accent down, or Alison pretending to be Sarah. Seriously amazing acting.

This show definitely needs more love. After the finale, I feel comfortable saying that it's better than at least half of what's currently on TV.

And speaking of the finale... yeah... god damn.

I watched this over the weekend and holy crap is it good! As others have said Tatiana is amazing playing each of these characters. I genuinely forgot they were played by the same person when the clones were together, she's that good!

And i love the way that the multiple clones scenes are filmed. Like in the last episode, Sarah is sitting talking to Alison when there's a knock at the door, she gets up to answer it, let's Cosima in, Cosima walks past her as Sarah closes the door then they turn and hug each other while you can still see Alison in the background, and it all happens in one shot!

I mean, i know they must use stand ins a lot, but scenes like that are damn impressive.

Can't wait for season 2! It's already become one of my favourite shows ever. grin

The only reason I'm glad that I didn't watch this for ages is that it means I don't have to wait as long for the next season. Good good good good good.

Allison I don't like. Paranoid abusive murderer. So I guess her husband deserves her. I was picking that intervention woman wasn't her monitor but I thought Chad was it. Maaan he's good, not breaking when tied to a chair with hot glue dripped on his chest by a subject who knows everything. (Or had they just not thought of that twist yet...)

Something I'm disappointed with in the finale: Helena and the woman she killed dying. I had hoped Helena and Sarah would eventually join forces permanently. Not convinced that it's more interesting for Sarah to kill her, in the long run. (Maybe they just couldn't put any more burden on Maslany.) And their birth mother definitely would have been interesting alive.

Something I'm not disappointed with: Cosima/Delphine. grin So apparently Allison is the only clone who can't get her monitor to switch sides, lol.

He's the Doctor. He could be anywhere in time and space.

I really like Alison, so that's another thing we don't see eye-to-eye with, eh? [lol]

She's entertaining, but I also feel a great deal of pity for her. You get the sense that she's been a lot more closely monitored than the others — she'd had to have been, given the reveal — so it makes sense that she'd have been paranoid. She must know that her life is being monitored. Plus, I assume that she's got some sort of disorder, given that every other clone (other than Sarah and Rachel) have been revealed to have one.

That said, she's no murderer.
