"So does this mean that Summer is being kept in a stasis somewhere and will eventually return good as new and really bitter about how the whole Ozluminati deal turned out?"

Summer: Why do I still live? What more do you want from me? I gave everything I had to you, to them. Look what they have made of our dream. This bloated, rotten carcass of an Kindom is driven not by reason and hope, but by fear, hate and ignorance. Better that we had all burned in the fire of Salem' ambition than lived to see this.

Sorry, I have to do thistongue

So as it turns out in RWBY Volume 5, A slime Grimm devours Ruby and proceeds to assimilate her body, turning her into what looks like a Dark Souls boss. I guess they wanted to get darker quickly.

Okay, this is actually Arc System Works' April Fools Joke. Where they have a website for a spinoff idol crossover game... Made entirely of crossdressing male characters. However, I do find it interesting that out of all the things they could have done with Arakune's idol outfit, they specifically picked Ruby for his appearance. And it's pretty clearly Ruby, it's got alot of her design elements. It honestly makes me wonder if ASW really is planning something...

Question for people who had issues with vol. 4's pacing: Do you think having all the episodes compiled into a movie like what the hard release will do will make for a better experience as opposed to waiting each week?

[up] I liked the Volume Four, but I watched it in one go. So yeah, I'm pretty sure it's much more enjoyable if you don't have to wait a week or two for another slow episode, yep.

[up][up][up] No. Because that doesn't change the actual content and the problems with it such as Four Lines, All Waiting.

Approaching it as just a matter of "If you binge it, it's not as bad" is a shallow fix that doesn't address the real problems.

I'd argue not having to wait a week for new content tends to drastically improve audience reaction.

IE - People who complain about how boring Lost/Breaking Bad/Walking Dead/Heroes were week to week, versus people who binged all three on Netflix.

Heck, Marvel Netflix format vs Agents of Shield and Agent Carter - the former's success is in no small part due to the instant season's worth of episodes that one can charge through at their leisure.

[up][up]I mean, that's approaching it from the perspective of their being other (serious) problems. Which is totally valid, but I think a lot of people feel the pacing was more of an issue than anything, and that just exasperated what they would otherwise be okay with, or at least indifferent towards.

[up]Basically this.

I mean that with the pacing. Even if watching it in one whole binge, the pacing issues in the grander scheme still exist. It's still Four Lines, All Waiting in the big picture.

Maybe I just have different perceptions of things. Even as is, I didn't have much issue with the pacing, though I get why other people did.

I don't think that would help, particularly, no. The problem wasn't that things weren't happening fast enough in real-time (ie, week by week as new episodes came out), it was that they weren't using screentime well (ie, I'd watch an episode and go "well, that was 15 minutes of nothing happening"). Like, 90% of the actual plot advancement in the volume happens in the last five minutes of the final episode. That's going to be true regardless of whether you're watching an episode a week or all of them at once.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

Which is fair if it didn't bother you. Don't get me wrong, complaints aside, I do like rwby. It's just feel the story has clear flaws and, while how you experience it will impact things, it doesn't change what the actual problem is. Sometimes the problem just lies with the storytelling and I feel always best to look their first.

As said for me, the issue is how unfocused and all over this season is. It's trying to just setup a lot again and felt like a Breather Episode done for an entire season. And the execution of some ideas just felt weak to me, like Weiss' whole plotline or Ozpin's pointlessness for reasons previously said.

I think it was important to get a Breather Episode after the action-filled Volume Three, but yeah, pacing issues were obvious enough. Despite binge watching it, I felt like not much was happening. Our characters were bumbling around and talking about stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the character development and some of the slower moments. It's my second favorite season after the fourth one, but I wish they advanced the plot just a little bit more. I imagine it must've been incredibly boring if you watch RWBY for action scenes.

[up] Oh yeah, Weiss's plot was incredibly lacking. She's my favorite female character, but really, she didn't even get to develop much as a character. Ironwood scenes were pretty great, though; it might just be me having the hots for the iron daddy :p

Welcome to Team Breather Season. If you don't understand that joke immediately, it's fine, you're better off.

Long ongoing debate on whether the falling action this season was excessive or not.

I disagree with falling action when it's clear you're using the gap to build up to volume 5. There's plenty of good stuff to work with which, if tweaked, could accomplish the same things while also being exciting.

It doesn't have to be a plot or character. Can advance both. I feel an increase in antagonism would help there with this season since there was such little pressure on the girls.

That and I've already discussed how poorly structured the Ren and Nora subplot is in that it has no middle. I love the idea of it and glad this is the first season ending foe they actually overcame without outside help.

[up][up] I doubt our team will survive in the Volume Five. Shit's gonna hit the fan. I so can't wait, man <3

[up] You know what I think about RWBY, Prime. I agree with you, the Volume Four was not a good one. But let's be real, every single season so far had some serious problems with the pacing. The Volume Four just didn't give a shit about it and did its own thing. Is it a good thing? Hell no. The Volume Four was slow, amateurishly handled and boring for many people. But I enjoyed it despite its faults.

I wish there was more action, though. I realize it's all just a set-up for later seasons and I doubt most people appreciate watching something like that. I wish they'd employ you, I'm pretty sure you'd solve lots of pacing problems <3

Is there any characters from RWBY you would like to see in a Death Battle, like Yang was? They already confirmed that Ruby vs Maka will be happening, so what about any other characters?

Who would they be fighting? Death Battle's fighters always have a similar theme or backstory going for them.

Don't know who should fight Pyrrha, but when it has come up in the Death Battle thread I've suggest Shanoa for Weiss and Hei for Blake.
