This kind of speculation doesn't really belong in this particular thread.

What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?

Yeah.

Point is, even if a war is justified it doesn't feel like it's our war. I feel like we're like fish out of water when during the Iraq war (for goodness sake, our only casualty shot himself by accident? Seriously??)

I'm not sure how much of the current focus on national security is a result of the legitimate international and domestic incidents and how much of it is Abbott being all Abbott-y.

I think it has more to do with the US-led invasion of Iraq being the whole reason ISIS exists in the first place.

Maybe, maybe not. Remember that second S stands for Syria and ISIS got their start there before moving into Iraq and that particular meltdown was kicked off by the Arab Spring.

Once again, First Dog On The Moon hits the nail right on the head.

Seriously, restricting freedom in the name of 'security' only does the terrorists' job for them.

TPVs are back, thanks to a Coalition/PUP collaboration on asylum seeker policy.

Remember back when I asked if Abbott wanted war, and you guys said no?

Yeah, me neither.

- Asylum seekers will now be shipped to Cambodia. So the one of the world's richest nations is offloading the handful of refugees that try to reach it by boat onto one of the world's poorest nations.

- New anti-terror laws passed Senate with support Labor. Now illegal for ASIO to monitor the entire Australian internet with a single warrant.

It will never end, will it? It's always going to be like this in Australia from now on. Get out while you still can.

It's not over. Not yet.

I dunno. Narnia, maybe? Some place that doesn't flippantly sign away individual rights?

Maybe somewhere that actual has a functional Opposition?

Welcome to America, Australia.

Can Shorten resign and have a better opposition leader replace him?

Shorten? honestly no.

Unless there is a charismatic young visionary leader hiding in the wings in the party which I doubt. They best bet is trying to holding onto the guy who can keep the club house party together then trying to change horses midstream and try it with a new guy. leadership changes is what cost them the last election.

Abbott finally replies to a kid who asked about equal marriage.

He himself as a lesbian sister, so you'd expect him to at least consider a change in the law?

Nope. He maintains his opposition against same sex marriage, and he evidently doesn't like - or care - enough about his own sister to give her a better chance at opportunity.

This is a man who said he "felt threatened" by homosexuals. You expect him to change his opinion just because his sister is gay?

He has also said virginity is the greatest gift his daughters could ever give, and they should wait for marriage. Meanwhile Tony believed for two decades he had a son out of wedlock.

How far can one man have his head shoved up his arse? Enough to make himself Minister for Women, apparently.

Maybe his sister picked on him and he's against gay marriage just to spite her? :C

Cute but it safe to he's is set in his views.

[up][up]He should call himself Minister for Gay People. That would complete his set of completely aesthetic titles and convince people he's a not a bigot because... it shows he cares, right?

Abbott is also basically a dictator. The opposition isn't much of one and he's trying to fuck things over with this anti-terror fearmongering. >.>

Will any of you petition for a new Labor leader?
