The Humongous Mecha RP

Turning to look at the newcomers, Faith was starting to wonder where they're all coming from. Noticing one of their eye's glowing, Faith looked straight forward as she stretched out her arms. Gently flicking her short hair Faith spoke "Be awed, for you stand before the pilot of Solaris Collapse! Piloting from the age of eight and taking names, I've been the hero of Echo City long before the formation of this squad!" Stopping to notice... Celeste, was it? Hmm... Let's call her Celly, that's easier to remember. Oh yeah, stopping to notice Celly picking up the stuff she dropped Faith crouched down and wrapped an arm around her neck as she reached out with the other "This is my good friend Celly, obviously smarter than most people if she realizes I'm freaking awesome. So you two, you with Nolan and the rest or do you think I'm cool?"

Harvey had finally gotten some rest for the first time in a few days, so feeling rejuvenated he had decided to go wandering the halls. As Harvey turned a corner he saw a small group of people. I guess these are pilots? They don't look nearly professional enough to be support staff. Guess I'll probably be working with them, so I guess I should introduce myself Harvey waited for the girl to finish her introduction before clearing his throat loudly and asking: "Is this a private conversation or can anybody join?"

Celeste thought to herself:

-"Even though those memories were from a long time ago, Captain Kiske's harsh words still haunt me from time to time: 'No matter how hard you try, you'll never become a true pilot!'. After all, I'm just an ordinary girl, with no special aptitudes nor extra-normal abilities; I don't even have any of the cybernetic enhancements so common among GeneSys' pilots, because I'm deadly afraid of them turning out wrong... Afraid... All my life, surviving in a world under constant siege by the Eldritchians, I've been living afraid of so many things. Is that the reason why I'll never be a true pilot?"

Celeste continued being lost in thought as she laid on the ground, with her face turned away from the people besides her to prevent them from seeing the tears that were forming in her eyes. But then, the most unexpected occurrence among all the surprising things that she had experienced since her arrival to the base happened: Faith introduced herself to the other pilots with great boldness and confidence, but immediately after doing so, she lowered to Celeste's level, wrapped her arm around her with kindness and familiarity, and introduced her to everyone as a friend of hers. Celeste was in a complete shock, but this time was completely different to the others... Her mind started racing once again.

-"A friend? Ms. Long has just called me friend? How is it possible? Even though her psychological data is extremely limited, all the witnesses' reports I've ever read described her as 'an extremely arrogant and unstable individual, whose sole presence intimidates and alienates those around her... must be approached with extreme caution'... And yet, here she is, giving me a tender hug and calling me a friend despite myself being a complete stranger. All those people, all those supposed witnesses... They were are all wrong! They don't know the person behind the mask! Ms. Long... She has been fighting all alone during all these years... That's such a cruel fate for anyone to bear, I wouldn't ever be able to endure such terrible ordeal... And yet, there she is, trying her best to stay strong and brave despite all that pain and suffering! Ms. Long... I... I..."

Overwhelmed by all her thoughts and emotions, Celeste started crying right in front of everyone, not because of her own fears and weaknesses, but because she felt great empathy and sadness for Faith's circumstances.

Now that Hans said it, Emil has been seeing his old captain in his dreams quite a bit; mostly fond memories back when he was just a rookie and things he learned from the man and took to heart. But they were nothing unusual.

"Nothing odd really, but what's this issue about? Sorry if I don't know, but I was away from the base for a good part of yesterday."

"Well, I haven't known you long enough to decide, I'm Gunnery Sergeant Gdolkin, this is Sergeant Krueger, the guy trying to help pick up papers," he gestured to Jack, who had gotten on his knees to help pick up papers, and was also currently trying to console the crying girl. "And what exactly makes you a hero, Ms. Long?" George finished asking, folding his arms over his chest.

Jack looked up from consoling Celeste, who was still crying, there was a man standing there asking them something about a conversation, "what did you say?"

Removing her arm from Celly's neck and standing up, Faith looks at the man that questioned her. Puffing out her chest (Which is flat as a board apparently) Faith answers "I've been killing monsters since I was eight and enforcing international peace by kicking the asses of stupid upstarts! I admit, my last battle before this squad was really disappointing because he blew the damn thing up but it just goes to show you! I'm so freaking awesome the villains rather die than let me kill them. I believe killing psychotic space monsters and enforcing peace would label me a hero, so any objections?"

Dan, Nolan, Vaughn, Simon and Alex finished off reading through any remaining files on the USB and left the rented out room as Nolan made sure that none of the conversations that took place got out.

The five enter Nolan's office closing the doors as Nolan makes sure the room is secure with no one hearing.

"Ok let's get a recap of what was on that USB." Vaughn suggested as Dan spoke up

"So far there were various journal entries, blueprints, reports, progress notes, info on Eldritchian genetics, background on me and Summer's own powers, info on the Eldritchians whose DNA was used for us and I think that's it."

"So where do we go now?" Alex asked nervous about his involvement.

"We stay quiet on the subject. Whatever Dan and Summer's parents have planned it can't be carried out currently. Not until we figure what SEVER is planning." Nolan replied.

"Wait SEVER? As in the guys who run SERVE?" Simon exclaimed as Alex looked even further in shock.

"Yes. They have something massive planned to destroy the Eldritchians and my efforts to find out what it is have been futile." Nolan explained.

"Are you suggesting we hack into SERVE's network to find out what plans SEVER has?" Vaughn asked nervously.

"No in fact I'm giving all three of you a chance to get out of this now. Dan made the mistake of passing this info on to you even if you three can be trusted. But things will become harder. So now any one of you can leave and stay out of this. As long as you keep what you've heard secret you will be safe. So who wants to leave?" Nolan asked, hoping the three will make what they think is the right choice.

George just grinned, "eight huh, you're not very familiar with how the Marine Corps works these days, are you? With the influx of death from all the alien attacks, they started taking in orphans and training them to adulthood. I've been fighting since the age of six, against small spawn and the like, by the time I was eight they were messing with my genetics to make me a better marine." Suddenly his grin turned into a scowl, "and just how many times did you save people from eldritchians and not just kill them because it would get you on the front page of the paper? stupid upstarts? Are you telling me you destroyed the careers of young pilots only seeking to help make this world a livable place?" George's red eye blazed with fire, "you may be a hero in your own eyes, and those of some people called 'sheep', but I know a glory hound when I see one."

Looking at the man with a mixture of confusion and vague offendedness, her face breaks out into laughter before catching herself. Wheezing from the laughing Faith looks back at him, smile ablazed as she speaks "Want to know something? I'm one hundred percent, genuine human! No genetic modifications needed to be this awesome. I would hardly call Dr. Scitus a pilot or young, and you really think I'm that sadistic and egomaniacal to murder random people for attention? Sheesh, you must be really stupid to think that. Bitch I may be but I don't attack, let alone murder people for attention or glory. Obviously the Marine Corps can't bother making smart weapons right?"

As Jack helped Celeste pick-up her items, all while trying to cheer her up with kind words and some mildly inappropriate corny jokes, the girl heard George and Faith arguing with each other. She already knew about Mr. Gdolkin's tragic story, but hearing it from his very mouth was still shocking.

-"...All of these pilots have experienced worst kinds of hardships than me, almost during their entire lives... And yet here I am, broken and crying as if was still a little kid... Indeed, yet another proof of why I'm inferior to them. However..."

The girl stopped thinking to herself, she wiped some of the tears in her face, and addressed directly to George...

-"You raise some interesting points Mr. Gdolkin... Indeed, those records and legends sure sound like a tall order for anyone to live up to them... They're almost too perfect, too ideal... I've also known my fair share of fake heroes while working for GeneSys during all these years... However..."

Celeste stood up and faced George directly to the eyes...

-"...However, I can say this knowing from the deeps of my heart that it's true: I believe in Ms. Long, not because of the 'legends', the propaganda material, the witnesses' reports nor even GeneSys' extensive database, but because I believe in the person who stands beside me right now; the true Ms. Long, the one who exists below the mask, the one who no one has never bothered to know. Whether she's a 'true hero' or not, that doesn't matter to me! Because I know that Ms. Long is a good person! Don't ever dare to question that truth, Mr. Gdolkin!"

She said as she faced the imposing man with an intense look in her eyes that pierced right through the tears which still covered them. There wasn't any anger nor resentment in them, only sincere conviction and trust.

Hans looked at Emil.

"I probably should get out more too...Well, Gustav is taking over my mind. I'm hallucinating, I keep getting obscene rage...I've thought about killing everyone here...I must be going insane..."

Hans' information already further worsened Emil's headache, causing him to pinch the bridge of his nose as the pain grew.

"Jesus... Did the scientists that did this to you EVER consider the consequences of their hubris? Are you sure you can handle it? Because I'm not as heartless as the rest of the Command staff as to put you in a cage just because you're acting up."

George just grinned at the little girl who had stuck up for the confused pilot, how the hell did she get kill innocents out of his speech? He just said destroy their careers. "Well little girl, you've got spunk. I like that, you stick up for your friends too." He turned to leave, "one last thing though Ms. Long, the Marine Corps doesn't make weapons." He flashed a grin reminiscent of a great white in a feeding frenzy, "they make killers." He left, and hung a left down the hall for the armory. Jack just smirked, "He must be getting more LSA oil for his arms. Damn things need quite a bit of lubrication." Then, his smirk turned into a frown, "don't think that just because we're genetically modified we're less human, just because we've been improved doesn't mean we don't have our humanity." Jack got up to leave, muttering something about paint for his armor,"I'll talk to you later Ms. Caballero." He started away down the hall.

"I'm not sure they meant to...We only found out about this after the....You know..."

"...The last Eldritchian..."

At Hans' mention of the last monster they fought, Emil felt his stomach drop and his anger rise. While he was the least affected by the creature, he was also the one that hated it the most; especially since it made him hurt Hans. He then replied to his teammate with a voice heavy with both guilt and cold contempt.

"...That thing... I guess for you it never really left huh?"

As the three looked a Nolan thinking about what to do, Alex stood up.

"I'm sorry guys. This is too much for me. It's my second day and I'd rather just work for SERVE without being involved in some massive conspiracy. This is too over my head." Alex stated confidently.

"If that's what you want Alex, I'll respect that. Do you want a transfer to another base?" Nolan asked.

"No I just got here. I'd prefer to stay. And don't worry I wont tell anyone what happened." Alex replied as he quietly left Nolan's office, reluctantly but happy.

Both Vaughn and Simon looked up to Dan and Nolan as they delibrated their decision.

"I think I'll stay. I want to get to the bottom of this now. I feel like I'm in a spy thriller." Vaughn stated chuckling.

"I think I'll stay too. Something's always rubbed me wrong about SEVER anyway." Simon added.

"Well alright then. What now?" Dan asked, wondering if he made the right choice of getting them involved.

"We get back to work as normal. We need to take it easy and slow now and only communicate when anything related to our cause happens. So we should all get back to work." Nolan stated.

"Fair enough. Contact us when there's anything new." Vaughn stated as he and Simon went back to the computer room.

"What about me?" Dan asked.

"You are going to be looking at your parents' files by yourself. I don't think you'll need any help for that anymore." Nolan replied, smirking.

"Alright. I'll talk to you later." Dan replied as he left to his quarters and opened up his laptop ready to search for files.

"No...At first, it was Good. Gustav helped, he was nice...But, but then h-he...He grew angry. He wanted out."

"What the hell happened anyway? I talked to him and he told me that he wanted to help."

Summer and Sarah meanwhile were in Sarah's quarters looking at specs for the Nexus One as the women talked.

"So why did you get into mech engineering and mechanics anyway?" Summer asked curiously.

"I always had a fascination with technology from a young age. I used to fix cars, machines, computers etc. When I found out SERVE was hiring mech engineers, I was over the moon and instantly signed up. I've been here for years and my experience paid off when I was promoted to one of the main Head Mechanics and Engineers. A pretty good job I should say." Sarah explained.

"Wow, I'm impressed." Summer replied.

"Yeah but the mechs themselves are what impress me. These giant sky scraper sized machines are amazing. Piloted by us with the capability of turning the tide in a battle. At first it was like a pipe dream, so much money and tech was needed but in the end we pulled it off. Thanks to these robots we can protect ourselves and save the world." Sarah stated, getting lost in her words.

"It's a spectacle isn't it? Fiction becoming reality. Fights of godlike proportions. I kind of feel blessed to be involved, regardless of the issues going on." Summer noted.

"I guess our situation truly is great." Sarah said.

"Great indeed. So thec specs on Nexus One here. What kind of weapons could I still add to it?" Summer asked, smiling with delight.

"Plenty still. What would you like added?" Sarah asked.

"I have a brilliant one in mind." Summer stated.

"Oh, do tell." Sarah asked as Summer began explaining a weapon she wanted the Nexus One to have.

"He did...I...I don't know, he's becoming violent...I'm losing myself to him. I'm now scared to go to sleep, I know this doesn't mean much since I'm an Insomniac but, I'm afraid that I'll wake up...And I won't exist any more."

-"I'll be looking forward to it too, Mr. Krueger!", Celeste said with a smile on her face, "And thanks a lot for the help, and the kind words! Some of them were a bit... confusing... but I think I understood what you meant!", she said as Jack walked away to catch his friend.

Celeste sighed after having concluded that uncomfortable scene... Despite their rugged appearance, and their intimidating behavior, she could tell that both George and Jack were great people, and she was looking forward to start working with them on the upcoming missions... However, she just couldn't stand to see her new comrades fighting among each other, because she knew that soon enough, everyone will require the strength of the others in order to survive the battles ahead of them.

Having sorted that issue, she turned her attention to the man who had recently appeared at the scene. He looked slightly confused, and bit annoyed by the fact that he was left hanging there without anyone to talk to. She immediately recognized the man from the GeneSys' updated dossier that she received the previous night, so she addressed him with a courteous bow:

-"I apologize for the strange scene you had to witness back there, Mr. Jackson. Don't get the wrong picture! We're, for the most part, new members of this team, and we still need to get to know each other, and to sort out our differences. But I guarantee you that we don't fool around when the time comes to do our job!", she undid her bow gesture, and started talking directly to him, "Let me introduce myself: I'm Celeste D. Caballero, former test pilot #7 for the GeneSys' organization! Nice to meet you!"

Well that was...that. Well anyway time to meet at least one person Harvey shifted his weight and spoke. "Nice to meet you miss, I would introduce myself but you seem to know who I am already." He extended his hand. "It is nice to meet you all the same."
