I never liked Little Mermaid so why would I pay extra money for an even worse viewing experience?
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.LOL, I know I certainly wouldn't if I didn't like a film.
Beauty and the Beast and the Lion King were surprisingly good in 3D. Although, the Little Mermaid doesn't really have nearly as many WOW scenes with a lot of depth and scale to it. It has, like 1.
Not Three Laws compliant.Um... nice to know... I guess.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Maybe there'll be a Wreck It Ralph short at the beginning of the film, like Tangled Ever After for Bat B 3 D

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Little Mermaid's 3D Theatrical re-release has been cancelled actually. Monster's Inc. had a pretty crappy boxoffice return so Disney has decided the nix their 3D re-releases. It's still getting a 3D Blu-Ray though.

It's canned? And that news is from back in January, but I guess that still wasn't enough time for them to get the promo for it off of their DVD release of Wreck It Ralph.
Ah well. I don't have a 3DTV, so I guess I won't be seeing it in 3D anytime soon, then. Though it was really more the seeing it in the theatre thing I was excited about.
Maybe they changed their minds and plan to go through with it. I kind of saw it coming though, Beauty and the Beast, Finding Nemo, and Monsters Inc. all grossed progressively less with each release.
The Lion King really is a beast on it's own.

Not sure if pun...
I suppose it's possible they did change their mind. I guess we'll just have to put it on wait-and-see in the absence of any further news.
So the film is returning to theaters on Sept 20th. On the bright side, it might not be in 3D, as there's been no mention of that. On the dark side, though... they're doing this.
Eh...just another gimmick...
I'm honestly glad that they stopped the 3D nonsense. The classics are fine as they are, there is no need to screw them up. They are impressive exactly as they are. The don't need additional scenes (which were originally left out for a good reason), 3D (just screws up the art which went into the animation) and they certainly don't have to be interactive (what the hell is wrong with simply sitting down and enjoying the movie?)
The whole "Second Screen Live" thing sounds interesting but pointless. I just hope that it isn't required. That would be stupid.
boop I'm more active on hereThey could have just released them web games on their own as advertising for the rerelease. I don't see why people would want to go to a movie to play silly games.
The Ipad utilization could maybe work in an interactive movie. But not this one.
Gotta follow the fads, after all, and pointless App Store/Android Store tie-ins are the fad right now. Getting that way with a lot of major video games, too...
I could honestly care less about the 3d version. The Little Mermaid is too overrated.

Got myself the Blu-Ray the other day.
So happy.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceI love this movie and I'd love to see it in theaters. That Second Screen thing though... how can you watch a movie and play iPad games at once? why would you want to?
Yeah, it rather compromises the experience.
I mean, if they wanted to make it properly *interactive*, that is, something like directors commentary or the ability to do a panorama-esque view of certain pretty scenes, but this just seems like an acknowledgement on Disney's part that The Little Mermaid can't hold children's attention so here's some games they can play while you (parent/guardian) watch.
Wait, so it's a movie where you're supposed to leave on, and use, your phone during the movie? LOL.
They need something to change things up somehow. They just can't admit that re-releases don't work anymore.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatIf anything, the movie should be released with a rewritten script. I like the literature version way better, even though the ending is sad.
This fall— The Little Mermaid - for the first time ever in 3D. I don't normally get too excited about 3D rereleases, but any chance to catch a Disney classic in the theatre is great, and I really enjoyed Beauty and the Beast (my favorite Disney film) in 3D. Thoughts?
Feel free to discuss the film in general too. My favorite song from the film is "Kiss the Girl," with "Under the Sea" and "Part of Your World" as a toss-up for second place. And Ursula was an entertaining and definitely twisted villain.
