Bumping this up because I just bought a Trade of this (Through closed doors) and as there seems to be no actual thread for Astro City, this seems as good a place as any to start talking about it.

The fact that it's my first full collected Trade ever does play a bit of a role in it too.cool

The lack of Astro City fanboy squee on this forum upsets me.

Hey folks. Not sure how many people will see this, but I figured I'd try here before moving on to ATT. There seems to be an ongoing issue on the Characters.Astro City page where the pronouns for a character named Glamorax keep being switched back and forth between 'they/them' and the character's name/Glam. Looks like it's happened a few times over the last few years. I haven't read enough to weigh in (only a few scattered trades here and there), but it'd probably be good to settle on some kind of consensus. Anyone know Word of God on the subject?

The narrator uses "they" to refer to Glamorax in issue 46. Granted, this happens when Glamorax is in the middle of shifting to a new identity with a new gender and so could be taken as a plural they, but the overarching spirit thing that keeps going through these identity shifts is later referred to as "it," so it looks to me like Glamorax is in fact a they.

That seems like a fair assessment to me. Really, as long as there's nothing specifically saying Glamorax doesn't use they/them, I don't think there's any reason to go out of our way to avoid using they/them on their article. I'll leave the ATT thread open for a few more days, though.

Wish they would release the rest of the trades in softcover already.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.
