Given the stats, there probably isn't a lot of will for a rename, but I think this thing could use some searchable redirects, and I could use some ideas.

Screaming Singer? Or would that draw too many fictional examples?

ETA: Oops, the trope name is Careful with That Axe. Another reason why we need damn redirects!

The blue button is there to fix this sort of issue.

That name has nothing to do with the trope, and with 77 inbounds I wonder about it's quality - and that of the wicks.

[up] What blue button...? I looked for something that would help me change it, but I couldn't find one.

As for the wicks, they all seem to be for bands (or someone who would comment on this phenomenon), so I assumed they were probably okay (thus my remark about no will for a change).

An indefensible name. Definitely change it.

[up][up] Aha. I hovered over it, and it didn't look like anything that would help. For next time.

[up] You never know, especially since, as I said before, it doesn't ''appear' at first glance from just the list of wicks that it's being misused. I'm sure someone will be along to defend it. :P (Personally, even if I knew it was a music trope, I would've thought it was about guitars, not voices.)

I think it has to do with the opening paragraph of the trope description: the singer's screaming is so horrifying that it sounds like he's being attacked with an axe.

Yes, it's terrible, but that's apparently the logic.

Hmm, I'm a huge fan of the trope namer—I actually saw the very last ever live performance of it—but it's way too obscure to be a trope namer. The several dozen of us who get the reference will just have to swallow our disappointment. Rename it.

D'oh. Missed the entry that explained all that. :P *forehead whap*

Still, I'm strongly considering changing "Needs Help" to "Rename." Any objections?

Non-indicative name, obscure reference, and it's dialogue. And it doesn't even sound like a trope.

On the other hand, 250+ wicks and 77 inbounds doesn't seem bad for a music trope. Renaming is something that should only be done to fix an actual problem. I'm not real familiar with the performance of music tropes in general, but I tend to think they're a less-visited part of the wiki. I'd want better data and stronger arguments before I'd actually support a rename. And that's despite my initial instinct saying the name is bad—my fondness for the namer is not a factor.

(And I think calling it dialog is a bit of a stretch.)

I don't. But I do agree that at a glance it doesn't appear to be a problem with the trope, either healthiness or misuse. None have been demonstrated, at any rate.

I'm not a fan of the name, but it seems to be doing okay given that Music Tropes in general don't get a lot of focus on this website.

I think we can make do for now with redirects.

Redirects Are Free and there's no point in having a TRS for a healthy trope. I'm locking this. You can add redirects on your own.
