Fits the mold to me. Stoicism and no emotional responses don't say "emotion" to me.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI actually refrained from suggesting the uppermost pair of panels for Nerves of Steel because I thought Jones was already on this page.
So, yes.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI actually refrained from suggesting the uppermost pair of panels for Nerves of Steel because I thought Jones was already on this page.
So, yes.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI'm sure somebody's gonna take issue with it like we've always had with this topic, but hell, I'm good with it.
Moon◊Not the best configuration of images, but kinda works.
Check out my fanfiction! What the Duck said. Works OK, arrangement could be improved.
"Polite life will fill you full of cancer." - Iggy Pop "I've seen the future, brother, it is murder." -Leonard CohenI realized a few minutes ago that it would look aesthetically better to have the bottom panel in the middle, creating an hourglass effect, than how it is now. Also, I noticed that it artifacted when I was resizing it...if it actually gets approved, I can try to recapture the panels as PNGs for resizing and then save the entire thing as a JPG when it's done.

It could probably do with borders.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI'd thought about that, and about filling in the blank spaces with maybe a dark blue color and the Court's logo on both sides. I'll play around with it some later.

I may vote for a bordered version. If not, the party hat pic alone can go on The Stoic.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. The more I think about this, the more I think it might be better to use this for The Stoic...I'm going to look through one chapter of GC to try to find something that might get the "emotionless" part across more clearly, but it might be a spoiler. If it is, I'll probably scrap this thread and start a new one for The Stoic.

I feel we'll need to draft a clear difference between The Stoic and Emotionless Girl.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOkay, is the next-to-last panel of [1] too much of a spoiler? If not, would replacing the party hat panel with it be sufficient to get the trope across?
Second to last panel relies too much on the text. It's just her telling you she's emotionless. I'd prefer one of the ones where she actually acts emotionless.
The problem with that is that if all you have to go by is her actions, you can't know if it's truly emotionless or just not showing emotion, which I've come to remind myself of over the course of this thread. Having her state the emotionlessness, along with demonstrations of how far that goes, is about the only way to depict the trope and not have it be confused with The Stoic.
Doesn't change the fact that it's nothing but text.
I'm going to go ahead and close this and set up a thread for The Stoic at some point in the future.
I know, I know, this topic's been done to death and nothing before has worked. However, I've had this idea floating around in my head for a while now and if I don't at least make an attempt it'll bug me to death. If it flies, cool; if not, oh well. It's Jones from Gunnerkrigg Court in a variety of situations that should elicit some kind of emotion, but Jones being Jones, she doesn't break expression at all.
