Anyway, Mr. Paraduo, homebrewer extraordinaire of the Malkavian Madness Network and more recently, the official White Wolf boards, has taken a shine to Warhammer 40K, and wants to combine his love of nuMage with it to create a setting where the Hieromagus sleeps in unending nightmare, battling the endless tides of the Abyss, at the Celestial Orrey, centerpiece of the Galactic Imperium of Hireaconis. Exploring and conquering the universe in search of the secrets of the Dragons, the Empire is faced with unending threats from the vicious rebels and saboteurs of the Seers of the Throne, the strange and hostile beasts unleased by heretical Scelesti and their mutant retainers, non-mage supernaturals fed up with the Awakened's hubris and racism, and the ruling Pentacle's often incompatible agendas. And who knows what else. In the future, there is only shadows on the cave wall.

Here's the link to the White Wolf fork, the the MMN, RPGnet thread, and the wiki.

Since I want to expand the project to gain as many ideas as possible, I decided to make this little thread.

So, any ideas?

Also-don't make any edits without clearing it with Mr. Paraduo first. He hates that.

Honestly, I think that other War Hammer games workshop makes would be a better fit, it actually has magic in it.

[up][up] I know Warhammer 40k and nothing in what you wrote means anything to me...

Well, there's the word Imperium, and hrrrm... Throne?

[up][up] Actually I put that forward already-Hireoconis is a sort of Bizzaro Universe Imperium of Man-superficially similar in government, but radically different in culture. For one, the different Orders, rather than being five departments of the same government, are more like independent states who grudgingly recognize their shared origins and interdependence, and work together because of it. Secondly, their attitude towards learning and freedom is completely different-since the Abyss is not nearly as corruptive as Chaos, they've recognized that the only downside to an educated and free populace is easily-ignored criticism (they still have an aristocracy, though the whole "divine right of kings" is claptrap-it's just a position with both power and responsibilities, albeit the latter being easily forgotten).

And then, of course, there's also the fact that the "psykers" are, uh, the guys in charge. Yep.

Also, psykers are a lot more like fantasy wizards than sci-fi psionics, in my experience. Almost identical to Awakening mages, in fact. So yeah, it fits in our opinion.

[up] You're only a quarter right. The Empire of Hireoconis is never referred to as the Imperium-that's a reference to extremely powerful magic, Imperial Mysteries in Mage lore. And the Throne is not something that any sane person in the Empire would admit to serving: That's the Throne of the Exarchs, the usurper-kings of the Supernal Realms, the world of Platonic Forms where all magic originates-and living symbols of oppression, greed, and hubris. The Seers of the Throne are the mages who collaborate with their schemes to control all life and prevent any rival to their power appearing, in return for wealth and power.

What rises must fall, what falls may rise again.
