@Amy G Dala

Shoot for a term that covers Straw Nihilist or and actual nihilist?

Also should we decide on a main page for the nihilists?

I agree that the page needs to be renamed. But I think that "Immoral Nihilist" would be a better title than "Amoral Nihilist". "Immoral" suggests that the person is morally wrong, while "amoral" suggests that the person is indifferent to morality in ANY direction, which is, essentially, the gist of moral nihilism. A moral nihilist believes that "right" and "wrong" were concepts that were created by humanity, to define values which, inherently, do not exist. It was done to create an opposite behavior to the one that was desired, probably as a pack-dynamic for early humanity, so that they could guide their group into working unanimously, as opposed to each going after separate deer. Basically, TV Tropes would define this belief as either Blue and Orange Morality, or Above Good and Evil. A moral nihilist is amoral. (S)he is not immoral, and, therefore, is not this trope. This trope deals nothing with moral nihilism. It deals primarily with poorly-portrayed existential nihilism. But, either way, it must be made clear that this trope is not how the typical existential nihilist would think.

I'm gonna get this out here. I am a nihilist. I believe that nothing has any inherent meaning or value. I also have some morally nihilistic views. But this does not mean that I am going to go and kill everyone. To me, the world means nothing, so there is little point in doing anything in particular with it. People are born, they live out their daily lives, and they die. Just because I don't believe that they are significant does not mean that I'm going to go around on a hedonistic killing spree. I am also cynical, but that does not make me bad.

I'm not going to explain all of my beliefs, in detail, on this thread. I dedicate large chunks of my book to that. These are just my random thoughts, by the way. I'm not responding to anyone in particular, here. I'm just giving perspective.

As for what to do with the pages, I think that there needs to be one general nihilism page that acts as a Super-Trope for this trope and Anti-Nihilist (both of which need to be renamed).

The War on Straw tropes are just completely broken in general. I would be in favor of renaming this, as well as the Anti-Nihilist, although I'm not sure if we should be covering two tropes in one thread.

Not sure about the need for a Nihilism supertrope, though Useful Notes might be a good idea.
