They could think it's better than nothing but that we can do better still; such threads have been started in the past, and if lots of people vote Keep Until Better Image Suggested then the better image suggestion can be searched for. Perfectly valid reason.

In the past "we could do better" threads with no suggestion in the OP were immediately locked.
If that is no longer true, IP thread-starting standards have lowered. Why have a sticky about valid reasons for starting an IP thread

I feel that is policy-lawyering, but here I see a good case for keeping the current.

Protocol does not work like a law. It's called a guideline for a reason.
Regardless, we all agree on keeping current image, so we might just as well close this up.

Feels more like they're firing a wave attack with their palms rather than "touching a barrier" or something. Maybe an image where a barrier is visible by the characters touching it should clear things up.
