Just a Face and a Caption: One Up

I can understand that the Green Mushroom, despite its iconic look, may still fall into the trappings of Fan Myopia. However, this image is not any better.

Really, you're relying on the caption that it is a one up.

There should be a good web comic strip demonstrating on how one-ups work.

Because honestly, the Scott Pilgrim is a very poor example and seems like it was picked out of lack of options.

EDIT: Hmm... it lacks a number counter though. Any game that has that?

Most of the best ones didn't even make it into the last crowner.

Yeah. I guess the vote went to Scott Pilgrim since it was all the rage.

The second one is a single panel cartoon and is right out unless we get permission. The others, I'm not real crazy about.

Wasn't the case with fanart that we don't need permission at all, on account of fanart using someone else's trademarked characters?

Hmmmm...that's a good point, I'd forgotten about that. Still, I think I lean toward the current.

I'm not sure which I prefer. Both are okay, neither good. The current tells more, while the Mario one shows more, and both are a bit unclear on the subject. If the Mario one had better art, I'd prefer it, but as it is, a lateral change means no change for me.

I thought the Grim Reaper sorta works.

I think I'm good with the Scott Pilgrim one. I like how it shows the method of extra lives being a copy of the hero's head.

I haven't really seen anything stronger than the current.

I prefer the current one, if only because of lack of any better alternatives.
