Justice Avengers: Jump City at Dusk

"Oh, of course those are the only two choices you have to offer!" Wolverine said, his voice full of sarcasm. "Wouldn't expect less from a violent nutcase!" He groaned. "Fine then, you can help! Just do everything I say, and do not follow any gut instincts you have until you run them by me. I don't want this turning into a repeat of Columbia."

Sunbird's extended tendril indeed worked and even if Kara as she felt the cold steel removing it from her arm. It was hard to explain, but this made her feel different somehow. She now felt as if some kind of chain was broken and as if some big weight was removed from her. She only took a few steps and stared at Sunbird with awe.

"what are you doing?" she asked

Past/Krypton

"What do you mean? I will forget you?" Kara asked her father.

You are too young for the DNA bonding process, your memories probably won't survive. Once it begins there is no turning back as your remembrance of this place will seem to you like a dream, but that's ok because I want you to be happy and free of the sins of our people, and of our mistakes. I don't care if you remember us as long as you life. You and your cousin will be the last of us. This is my gift to you Kara that you will live a normal life on earth . You won't be human but you will be like them and you will find the love and the life our planet can't give you anymore"

Zor-el said as he gave his daughter a collar as a last gift.

"I don't want to go. I want to die here with you and our family. I don't want to forget you. " Kara said while crying.

"I am already proud of you, but if there is one thing you want to do for me, there is one thing "Love is more than just memories. Live a great life and never forget that you were loved, more than anything. As long as you love those that feel helpless and as long and you have faith for those that are in despair you will be more than a hero, a symbol of hope.That's what our family stands for."

The planet began to tremble as Kara hugged her father for the last time.

"It's time" Zor-El told her.

Ambush Bug sighed. "You know what? I've HAD it! I can't do this. I've been beaten, my head aches like a donkey kicked it, and I can't think straight. I tried to make friends and I only ended up making things worse. I'm leaving!" Angrily, he teleported away, seemingly without anyone noticing.

"Yes." She-Hulk told Red She-Hulk, clenching her fists. "After this, you'll meet your second best friend in this world: an ice pack." She pointed at a nearby lamppost. "Reddy! Throw me that! And get ready to punch this guy into the ground with all your might!" Once the lamppost was on her hands, she held it like a baseball bat, and waited for the right moment to redirect the (now slowed down thanks to one of the Hero Duo kids) raging Kryptonian at Red She-Hulk.

Free from Zod's grasp, the Flash started running in place as fast as possible, building up an incredible amount of speed- so much so the ground started to heat up rapidly- before setting off after Zod just on the right moment, hopefully hitting him with the same speed as a truck on a sharp decline.

Today

Nom was ping-ponged back and forth, shoved by Pulsate, smacked by She-Hulk, then punched by Red She-Hulk, before coming to a rather violent stop in the street. He lumbered to his feet, shaking asphalt off his shoulders, when he spied Pulsate, who he had not seen before. Nom bellowed with rage as needles of red hot light shot from his eyes at Pulsate. The rage quickly gave way to panic, however, as Nom realized he had no idea about how to turn the heat vision off.

Ursa staggered in confusion, holding up one hand to ward away the offending glow of the strange gem. "What is that?" She muttered, reaching out to take it away from Sunbird, violently if necessary, when Majestic barreled into her like a freight train, knocking her away from Kara with his shoulder. He came to a stop in front of Kara, looking down at her

"This place is dangerous." He warned, shaking a finger at Kara, even if he was only two years older than her. "You need to get out of here before you-" And out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Ursa coming back. "Oh boy." Was all Majestic had time for before Ursa punched him right in the face.

Zod held up a hand to push away Starfire's Starbolts, one eyebrow still raised. "Yes, I am Kryptonian. Is this so odd?" This question distracted Zod long enough to not notice Flash building up momentum and punching him right in the face. Zod flew down the street and crashed into Majestic, both of them falling into the street.

"General!" Ursa called out. "This girl carries the symbol of the house of El!" Zod staggered up and straightened himself quickly.

"Most interesting." Zod said as Majestic got to his feet as well. "I will be with you shortly. Then we shall see what she knows." Majestic put up his fists, scowling.

"You're not taking anyone anywhere." Zod gave a small, dismissive nod, and they punched at one another, causing a crater to form around them in the street.

Last Week

Matt stared off into space for what felt like an unreasonably long time before he realized that yes, in fact, he was a lawyer. He'd been distracted with the whole business earlier that day with his Daredevil shenanigans.

"Uh, yeah. Things are moving along fine. Nothing too exciting, y'know. Just an assault case, I think. You?"

Landing in front of Starfire, Flash stretched his arms, wincing. "Oh god, that was the strongest punch I've ever done in months." He turned to the princess, pointing at his back. "Here's what we're gonna do: you, hold onto me. I'm going to run circles around Goatee over there, and you just shower him with as many bolts as you can. Sounds good to ya, princess?"

The moment the blue stone was removed from her Kara began to field strange. At first it felt as if all the weight of the world was removed from her shoulders, her whole body felt lighter and the warmth of the sun above felt more comfortable than ever before.

She could barely hear Majestic before the world became mute and she began to feel a headache. The world around her began to "blink" as everything around her seemed even weirder, some people were naked, some walls seemed to be gone and there even seemed to be walking skeletons on the streets.

Kara tried to walk away, but she could barely take a few steps or maintain balance let alone concentrate to the point she couldn't see a car coming towards her due to Majestic and Zod's punch causing a shockwave that pushed a car towards her, she barely had the time to turn around before the car hit her and she fell to ground...

Distracted as he was, Non might not have noticed two groups of glowing-pink butterflies lazily fluttering him - four each on his left and right. As one, all eight suddenly darted at him with incredible speed; four went straight for his head, each pair aiming for the left and right of his temples^* intended as knockout blows to the head, while the two slightly-smaller ones moved to strike near the outer corner of his eyes^* as an attempt to force him to shut his eyes in pain. The last two went towards the sides of his neck, aiming for the pressure points there to hopefully incapacitate him.

"YAAARGHH!!" Pulsate screamed, as he was singed by Non's heat vision, and the only reason he wasn't burned more was because he used the kinetic energy he had left to speed away. He stopped a short distance away to check out his burns; his costume was still smoking.

"Rob!! Are you Okay??" Copper Sunbird, who had flown down upon hearing his scream, said as she landed by his side. "Oh my God, you're hurt! Let he help!" With that, she put a hand on him and a part of her liquid metal costume flowed over his wounds, were it solidified into a sort of airtight bandaging.

"Yeah, I'm, OK" he said, mostly for her sake. Then they observed as the battle continued near them, the city literally being torn apart. "Oh my God, we need to stop these people! Have you learned anything about them?"

"Maybe" she responded. "I think I overheard Starfire call them... Kryptonians or something? You think she knows something about them?"

"We better ask". Remembering he still had Donald's comm-berry, he brought one out and, despite feeling a little silly talking to fruit, said to it, "Hey Donald! This is Pulsate. Can you put me in touch with Starfire? I need to ask her something."

"There's something else" Sunbird said. "That girl we were trying to get away from here, the one the Bug guy was hanging with? She had this- odd, glowing pendant. That hussy in black seemed afraid of it, for some reason."

"Better check it out too. Go, I'll be OK."

She gave him a reluctant look, but then turned around and flew off.

Amazingly Kara stood up after being hit by a car (as in crash), but the problems of the heroes were far from over as she became a threat to them as well... Her headaches and dizziness were increased as she could only hear a lot of voices on her ear as if a crowd was trying to talk to her at the same.

"Stay away from me! she said as she began to run away from "skeleton monsters" around her. She couldn't see obstacles in front of her and when she tried to run away she began to push cars and destroy walls around her as she caused destruction whenever she "bumped" into something.

Kara knelt to the ground trying to calm down, but the sight of destruction only made her more scared as everything she saw began to burn...

"You can patch yourself to the open net," Donald said as he walked out of the building, touching the staff, paying attention to where the battle was happening, "Just think about talking to everyone.

Perhaps one the things Donal would notice burning would be a exploding car as one the things Kara saw was a vehicle.

"I've- been worse" Pulsate answered, remembering when he got shot a while back. Which didn't mean he wasn't in pain right now, but he didn't want to worry the others too much, they had better things to do. "OK, let's see if this berry thing works. Hey Starfire! Do you copy? Sunbird said you know what these people are, is that true?"

Meanwhile elsewhere, Copper Sunbird flew above the street and soon located Kara. To her shock, the girl was now tearing the place apart just as the Kryptonians were! Wait, could she be one of them? But if so, why was she wearing the blue bracelet (which Sunbird was still holding on to btw.) She decided to find out.

She landed next to her and wrapped the bracelet on her arm again. Then she asked, "Okay, who are you, and why do you have the same powers as those people??"

Ambush Bug appeared outside of a small room in an apartment. He unlocked the door and collapsed on the sofa. A television stood across the room, hooked up to a generator. Sighing, Ambush Bug picked up the remote. "Hi, Mom. Sorry for being gone. I got into a bit of trouble. Don't worry, everything's fine. So, any messages for me today?"

Flipping through the channels, he came across Scrubs. "Ah, man! I love this show!" Lying down, Ambush Bug sighed and let the theme song wash over him, interspersed with the past few days.

"Out the door, just in time..."

Ambush Bug teleported into the crowd, looking to enjoy a nice press conference. Maybe he would even get an autograph!

"Gotta meet the new boss by eight am..."

Maybe he would even be able to submit an application! Just think, he could finally get a worthwhile job! Mom isn’t doing the best. The generator needs to be patched up or replaced, anyway. It could help.

"The wife is working hard..."

Maybe he could even ask for help with finding out about technology and computers. No longer being fearful of being called an idiot for not catching up to the modern world...It’s like he was mentally stuck in the nineteen-eighties.

"I know what I’ve been told..."

Star Sapphire’s words swirled around in Ambush Bug’s mind. “Nemesis? Don’t flatter yourself, you’re just a bug to me. I have the power of love, but with you I feel nothing, nobody loves you. You are so simple minded, you are probably thinking about a rubber duck right now. You can consider this a mercy." As soon as they were gone, Deadpool’s words replaced them. “Jerk! Nerd!” Deadpool beating him up. Star Sapphire trying to kill him. Being stuck in a sewer... “You know what? I don’t see the point of helping anyone. I’ve made no useful impact on anything. I really am an insignificant bug. Sapphire was right.”

"But I can’t do this all on my own..."

"Wait...but, Kara tried to help me. She appreciated me. One of those twin superheroes tried to help me. Even Wolverine tried to get me to the hospital, after I accidentally stabbed him. They’re going to have a hard time stopping those space guys. It’s just like the song..."

"No, I know, I’m no-" “THAT’S IT!” Ambush Bug switched off the tv, quickly kissed it, and teleported back to the park, ready to help stop the invaders.

"Agreed," Starfire turned towards Flash with a very serious look on her face. "I shall not hold back, understand."

Starfire allowed the Flash to carry her as she threw the strongest Starbolts she could muster at the three Kryptonians choosing to attack which one was the closest. However, Pulsate contacted her about the identities of the Kryptonians.

"Not specifically, but they claim to be from the planet Krypton..." Starfire began to explain to Pulsate who might note Starfire's disbelief in what they say and her use of past tense. "Kryptonians were xenophobic isolationists... Enough that they as a race never left their home planet and refused to contact other races despite having the technology to do both... However, their planet exploded on itself, the core of the planet having collapsed into a radioactive material. Chunks of the planet flew as far as your solar system, actually. However, Kryptonians should have went extinct with Krypton's explosion."

"Come and get your love ... come and get your love."

Impulse sang lightly as he made his way over to Peter, removing one of the headphones from his ear as he walked. Scenes of devastated cities and neighbourhoods torn apart as the Justice Avengers fought played through his head.

"Yeah, we should probably go. Mass destruction, it's sorta mode."

He made his way for the door.

"So, what kinda food we talking about here?"

"Okay, we have another thing happening," Donald said into the open net, presumably heard by Wolverine, Starfire, the Wonder Twins, Flash and Flash Jr, "Um, yeah, I think, on top of everything else, we have a bang baby emergence happening not to far from your positions. Some girl just melted a car with her eyebeams and she's freaking out."

Kara took a deep breath trying to calm herself but instead ,unintentionally, she blew so hard it would feel like a minor blizzard to Donal Blake.

Then Copper Sunbird used the blue kryptonite gem to calm her and Kara felt weaker but calmer as her powers suddenly stopped working. Kara knelt to the ground while looking down, while her long blond hair covered her face.

"I don't know what happened ,at first I felt I could do anything as if nothing could hold me back , like I could fly, but then.. I couldn't control myself." She said as she seemed to be more relaxed.

"My names is Kara and I..I just came for for answers, trust me when there is danger I usually don't come near the closest psycho of the week, but when they talked about krypton I had to come her and investigate. " se said while looking at Suzie in the eyes.

"I just wanted to know who I am, to know If had any relatives , I had hope my real family was somewhere out there . I guess I just discovered I am related to the supervillian of the week" Kara concluded as she sighed whith slight sadness on her words

"I guess it was a bad idea to run away from "home" after all" she concluded, with regret on her words.

A runaway. Figures, Sunbird thought. "It's going to be OK" she told Kara. "Just keep the bracelet on for now, and stay away from this battle. We'll find the answers for you."

Then, using her comm-berry: "Did everyone get all that? Looks like we are indeed dealing with Kryptonians, and this girl is one of them, though she seemed unaware of it. The good news is that she has a device that can inhibit their powers. The bad is that there's just one of it. Any ideas?"

Majestic had never gotten such a berry, though his superhuman senses allowed him to hear Sunbird just fine. Since he couldn't say a plan out loud with Zod on top of him, he needed to verbalize it. He cinched his arms around Zod in a bearhug and flew him out of the city, both to limit property damage, and hoping to weaken the group by separating them.

A body now between herself and the harmful blue rays, Ursa decided to take her revenge by grabbing Sunbird's head in both hands...and squeezing.

Nom did shut his eyes, thankfully stopping his heat vision, and he was too afraid to open them again. This blindness left Nom completely defenseless to the other butterflies' psychological barrage, which quickly left him dazed and staggered, flailing in the dark.

"Yeah , I guess you are right. I would've want to blow up up something " Kara said as she stood up.

"I might not remember everything, but if there is one thing you never forget is the ones you love." Kara said as she turned around to see Majestic while she "face palmed" herself as she felt she had finally realized the obvious.

Kara touched her left arm and looked up as she saw Majestic flying Zod outside the city. "I think I finally understand. Majestic must be Kryptonian too. He must be Kal-el, my lost cousin" she said to herself. "He must be" she muttered in a hopeful tone. That love of someone missing was the one that had attracted Star sapphire earlier.

"You know being an alien and having superpowers might not be so bad, after all Majestic is doing great." Kara said to try to understand all the revelations as she still could't believe she wasn't human.

Everything seemed to be getting better until she noticed Ursa attacking Suzie. Kara put her hand on her blue kryptonite bracelet as she hesitated to use her powers, again ,to try to help Sunbird after all ,with the little control se had so far, she could be making things worse.

Ambush Bug ran toward the heroes. "I am back! Anything I can do to help?"

"Sunbird!!" Pulsate shouted, upon seeing his teammate in danger.

Right then, Ambush Bug teleported in. "I am back! Anything I can do to help?"

As much as he still distrusted the Bug, Pulsate felt he needed his help. "Distract that woman, anyway you can, so I can rescue my friend!"

Meanwhile, he used his kinetic energy-absorbing powers to try and prevent Ursa from crushing Sunbird's head.
