Interest in an Avatar RP?

Alright, this is just me, seeing if there's interest for this: an RP based around Avatar The Last Airbender (no smurf cats around here).

There have been a few in this forums in the past, one based around an alternate reality that didn't really go nowhere and one based on Legend of Korra that eventually died down. I wanna know if there's interest for one based on this setting, either taking place before, during, after the original show or Korra, I don't know.

I just want to see if there's an actual interest for this, and, I don't know, develop an RP people will enjoy and that won't die down.

When should the RP take place, by the way?

I say sometime before the 100 years war or whatever it was called.

I'm interested in it, but will be able to join only after February ends. Any time period except during the first season.

There isn't a lot of info about that time period, tho... apart from one or two episodes that flash back. But I suppose that allows us to be more free.

What about some time before Aang wakes up? Some odd number of years or months?

I am interested. I had a lot of fun with the last one.

Questions.

Are non-benders allowed? Are any unusual elements allowed, like sand-benders or that guy who exploded things with his mind? I suppose advanced-element benders, like plasma or metal, are out?

What about limits? What would be too weak, or too strong?

What kind of a plot do you have in mind? Action-combat, strategic-combat, stealth-and-social adventure?

Non-benders: yes. Unusual elements: yes, but not in the level of Combustion Man. Advanced-element: well, metal is pretty impossible, but plasma... well... it really depends.

It all depends on the group, really.

Well, I have several ideas, mostly for when it's taking place, then I'll work on the plot from there:

• 3 months before Aang wakes up.
• 10 years before Aang wakes up.
• 40-50 years into the Hundred Year War. (I need to check on the wiki when was Iroh's attack on Ba Sing Se, since that's the time period I'm aiming for with this one.)
• Right before the War starts.

The only ideas in my mind is the last one, with a group of people travelling to the other side of the world towards Ba Sing Se, in order to escape the War.

Meeting Iroh while he was besieging Ba Sing Se would be awesome.

It does, but I kinda want the RP to have the Walking the Earth feeling from the show. It's... fun.

I would like to express firm interest in this, though I'll hold off on throwing any sort of character ideas around until we've narrowed down when/what the agenda'll be. Though I must add, I do rather like the "walking the earth" theme, and could see it being developed into a very important trait that defines the game.

When the story takes place, I think, is significantly more important than where it begins. If we're casting votes for these sorts of things, I'd like to mention that I'd personally prefer the campaign to take place either sometime just prior to Aang's return (Hey, we could train him!), or in the actual midst of the war (fifty-ish years or so) with a more down-to-earth level of character "power" — appropriate show level prowess, if you will; leaving clear cut room for both far superior foes, allies and personal improvement whilst still being competent enough to handle most situations.

There's a reason why I only put one option which would have Aang play an important role in the RP: having the RP set fifty years or so into the war gives me more opportunities, more things to explore, instead of being tied down to the "damn it wasn't on the show" problem.

So we've got the time period, I'm still trying to work out what the characters will be doing. Is there an official or unofficial timeline of the universe of the show?

I would like to give it a shot as well.

...Although, actually, that might be pre-university-semester boredom talking. I should probably wait a few weeks and see what my workload's going to be like before I go jumping into R Ps. So I'm, like, maybe down for this, depending on just how many books I need to bury myself underneath this semester.

Don't worry, my R Ps aren't that fast. I'm pretty sure you could handle them even with school/university- heck, I can.

Anyway, here's an idea I have: the characters are in the Fire Nation (for their own reasons), and they find out the Fire Nation is planning another attack on Ba Sing Se, and this one might just work. So their plan is to travel to Ba Sing Se, in order to warn the Earth King and his authorities of what was going to happen. But they are going to face many dangers in their journey, both coming from outside of the group and from inside the group.

I've been reading the timeline, and if this takes place 50 years into the war, then Iroh should be only 15 or something like that. The actual siege he was behind takes place just five years before Aang awakens.

So, yeah. You guys still want to go for 50 years before Aang awakens or just five?
