I never watch preview clips. Maybe if the episode was several months away and I was really desperate, but for the most part I want to be able to experience the episode in full.

Math stinks.

On the topic of blogs we like.

It's not really my thing.

my feelings on the blog's sense of humor is mixed (sometimes it's funny, sometime it isn't) but that last part was hilarious

This show.

This is the only show that can make me cry so consistently.

Except for Gurren Lagann.

But... GL hurts me, in the same way that SU heals me. GL is, like, the Amethyst of shows. It takes a whole lot of pain and self-deprecation and buries it under a mountain of bravado, bluster, and bombast. Though come to think of it, the Gems indulge in a fair bit of that as well, with some frequency.

Both share the thesis that strength (in the real way) comes from emotional clarity, self-esteem, and love/support.

But Gurren Lagann is still bound by Compulsory Masculinity. Simon's trouble in expressing himself is reduced to merely a matter of self-confidence.

And...

I'd think about this for longer (and some other GAINAX/TRIGGER shows besides), but it's a lot of mental work and I'm not in the mood.

Plus, after reading so many brilliant blogs, not to mention other posters here, I'm beginning to lose my confidence in my insight and articulation abilities. I feel so dull next to them.

Still, all of this stems from one simple, empirical, subjective observation: both Gurren Lagann and Steven U can make me cry, consistently. But Gurren Lagann leaves me feeling empty and impotent and hopeless, while Steven makes me feel cleansed and validated and hopeful.

Just express yourself, and try tand see what comes of it. Most people when asked don't consider themselves to be all that great.

Any episode in particular of SU you had in mind?

So for those who we're worried that the Extended Opening would be part of an episode. The Title screen before it confirms it's a short so lol.

I smile every time I watch and/or listen to that extended opening.

Also Yellow Diamond really is yellow confirmed.

p.s. In my dream this morning I had to teach Pearl how to eat asparagus. It was interesting. She tried to swallow a whole bunch of it raw and I had to cook it and demonstrate chewing.
