Imagine the C Gs get into a fight with a Watermelon Tourmaline and Steven sends out his Watermelon Stevens..."Ha! Your watermelons have no effect on me!" and then she uses them against the C Gs but her watermelon powers makes them into extra ferocious mega-melons...
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.I wonder if names ending in "-ite" are only for fusions? That seems to be the convention so far. Not that our sample size is huge...
3DS Friend Code: 0018-0767-4231We should help them come up with nicknames. I propose "Wat".
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayGiven that Emily Walus is a crew member (she and steven sugar are the main background designs) maybe that means double pompadour hair style confirmed?
my blogIf people call Amethyst "Amy" (like Amelia), I don't see why we can't call Watermelon Tourmaline "Tor" (like Victoria).

My name is Victoria. Only family members call me "Tor," and I hate it.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Wait, so is that the real Steven in the video? Aaaawwwww...
So, Frybo would be like the equivalent of Shedinja for that evolutionary family?
Re: Nicknames- "Mel" might work for Watermelon... but you can see why they'll probably never have Gems named Specular Hematite or Red Rutilated Quartz.

3DS Friend Code: 0018-0767-4231I would normally think that if her gem didn't look really similar to a Pink Diamond.
This doesn't look like a hug but ok◊
Third time trying to hug: FAIL◊
On that matter, what are fans opinions on Gemsona? The creators seems to like them.
If Peridot was actually made five years ago.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.The fandom characterisation of Peridot seems very different from the in-show one- a lot more Moe... Not that it's a bad thing, just... interesting.
Gemsonae? I like 'em. The Gem race is set up as extremely versatile, and there's no way they can explore all of the possibilities in the show, so I think it's fun to see it being expanded upon by other people. Male gemsonae of course bring up the question of how Gems actually percieve gender, but there's no reason a Gem couldn't or wouldn't present in that way.
3DS Friend Code: 0018-0767-4231I'm iffy on gemsonas since we still don't know whether there are more than one kind of gem, or, if there are, if they're similar to each other.
Especially for gems I'm expecting to be in the show.
I'm really waiting for an Emerald.
Dance to the star◊ or seeing stars rather.◊

It's okay for gemsonas to look more masculine, but giving them male pronouns when Gems just don't use those in their society is a little ehh.
I'm sure there's more than one of each gemstone though, they can't all be unique, that wouldn't make much sense.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.My headcanon is that Homeworld Gems wouldn't even speak English- why would they? But they must have some sort of translator tech/power in place. Their language would have no need for more than one set of personal pronouns, but it gets translated as "she" for humans because that's how humans perceive Gems. If a Gem looked male, humans would interpret the word as "he". Gems don't have genders, but we perceive them through a gendered lens.
Is having multiple Pearls, Amethysts, etc really all that different to having multiple people called Andrew, or Rebecca, or any other name? Yes, they'd probably look similar in terms of their gem and their construct's colouring, but beyond that they can make their construct look unique as a personal identifier. They may even have an equivalent of a surname for ID purposes, but it just doesn't come up due to the One-Steve Limit.

3DS Friend Code: 0018-0767-4231That's kind of out the window by Peridot, Jasper, and Lapis speaking English. And Garnet, Pearl, and Rose too, really.

Gems invented English.
There's a lot of gemstone names just on Earth. Homeworld could have thousands of unique names.
But yeah, they shouldn't be male. They can look male, like Jasper maybe, but they're all feminine.
If we're going that route they're not feminine either. I think you mean female, which they also aren't.
And I never thought Jasper looked male.

Jasper doesn't look male, not with those hips.

With a name like Watermelon Tourmaline how dangerous could she be...
