I noticed lack of one general thread regarding Warhammer Fantasy, so I decided to create a one. :)
Not only Warhammer Fantasy Battle discussions welcomed, but also all things related to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (regardless of edition).
If anyone has questions regarding Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay's second edition, feel free to ask since I own most of its sourcebooks.
Warhammer 40,000 has its own thread here

Speaking of Slaanesh here is his/her latest official art◊ from the Hosts of Slaanesh Faction Focus.
Oh wooooow. So that's how they imprison it, waystones and magic chains.
And an army of wizards keeping watch, if the little white elements on the base that seem to be moving are what many people claim to be (wizards).
This weeks pre-orders are all the Shadespire warbands without their cards for those who just like the models, want to add them to their Age of Sigmar army or to paint as Inspired versions of the characters.
Or if you're like me, use Magore's Fiends as World Eaters for 40k
Nighthaunt named character: Kurdoss Valentian, the Craven King◊
They are releasing an official base size chart. Nice, that saves up discussions on people trying to cheese out base sizes.
There goes my plan to build an army where each individual model has a 150x100mm rectangular base.

The 2nd Edition Boxed Set, Soul Wars, will be on pre-order from 16th June for a 30th June release. It will contain the Stormcast Wizards◊ vs. the new Nighthaunt◊.
Those new models do look sweet.
Age of Sigmar may never truly replace Warhammer Fantasy in my grognard heart, but I am pleased to see Gee-Dubs actually giving the line a good go.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.Well, Creative Assembly's done at least one thing for GW: given them plenty of good music to use in their trailers.
Here is next weekend's pre-order list for 2nd Edition AoS
- Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soul Wars Boxed Game
- Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Core Book
- Malign Sorcery
- General’s Handbook 2018
- Combat Gauge
- Scenery Dice
- Command and Status Dice
- Objective Markers
- Wound Counters
- Stormcast Eternals Castigators with Gryph-hound
- Stormcast Eternals Sequitors
- Nighthaunt Glaivewraith Stalkers
- Nighthaunt Myrmourn Banshees
- New Technical paints: Nighthaunt Gloom and Hexwraith Flame
I will probably be getting the dice (I like to collect dice in general) and the objective markers as they look cool. I will probably get the books, the Soul Wars set and the gorgeous Myrmourn Banshees◊ when I have a bit more cash.
Double post because I just saw this and had to post it before I went to bed: The Mortarch of Grief, Lady Olynder◊. That is a truly stunning model.
In life, Olynder was a plotter and schemer who showed false remorse to improve her standing – now, in death, she is the possessor of a misery so deep and black it projects from her in vast, deadly waves. For most, to face her in battle is to lose hope and accept the inevitability of death – while those few with the will to stand before her are quickly obliterated by her deathly magics, or torn apart by spectral attendants.
We’ll be seeing more of Lady Olynder – and her Nighthaunt armies – soon, with Soul Wars being the tip of the (terrifying, definitely haunted) iceberg…
Triple post because I thought I would share something funny I came across while reading the Blood Bowl Spike! Journal: Issue 01 about the Chaos Chosen teams.
From the Famous Chaos Chosen Teams section:
This Chaos Chosen team has been coached to mixed success by a pompous upstart warlord from the north, who claims at every opportunity that he is far superior to Lord Borak and should be at least as well known, if not more so. The Everchosen have enjoyed several successful seasons, won numerous trophies and no doubt have plenty more glory ahead of them. Their detractors claim that any success they enjoy is wholly due to the mystical artefact their patron possesses, the Eye of Shearer, which grants him the power to see future opposition plays.
Hmmm. I wonder who that Chaos Lord could be.
Quad post unfortunately.
This week's pre-orders continue the Nighthaunt and Stormcast releases with the new characters and units (the Dreadblade Harrows look particually nice◊).
There will also be a new load of Made to Order stuff, namely: Settra◊, Queen Khalida◊, Zacharius the Everliving◊, Grom the Paunch◊, Greasus Goldtooth◊ and Gorbad Ironclaw◊. I am not going to have much money next week again

Just finished the first of the Gotrek and Felix books. It was pretty good, but do they always stick to all these little short stories?
No-the first is just a collection of the original short stories, which were basically expanded footnotes for the setting plus a few Inferno stories. Starting with the second book, it follows a full length format, with a nominal storyline up to Zombieslayer. The 3 printed after are basically interquels for the storyline, while the last 2 tie up loose ends and bring the story to a close at the end of WHFB.
Fair warning-only the William King stories are worth reading, apart from The Serpent Queen. The rest are pretty bleh, and starting with Orcslayer the series takes a significant nosedive in quality, with Felix becoming a pathetic sad sack dragging Gotrek down rather than holding his own-it seems every writer besides King hated Felix and tried to make him as pathetic as possible without actually killing him.
Forge World & Specialist Games Open Day Info
Blood Bowl: Human Booster Pack◊; Cheerleaders for Orcs◊ (Proving they aren't a single gender race in this setting), Humans◊, Chaos◊ and Dark Elf◊; Dark Elf Assassins◊.
Also, as we don't have a thread for Games Workshop's Tolkien Games I shall post it here: New Box Game, the Battle of Pelennor Fields◊; Théoden◊; Ingold◊; Huron the Tall◊; Knights of Dol Amroth◊.

Really? I never got that feeling from Felix and can't really understand why they might hate him. Yes, he complains a lot, is gullible, and often has a mouth that runs faster than his brain, but his complaining is completely justified considering his circumstances; he's stuck with a psychotic dwarf who's hellbent on killing himself, which often gets him into trouble. Not to mention he can still hold his own.

That is my point-Felix is a fine character with a defined arc and character growth through the first seven books (all William King). Starting with book 8 and an author switch, all of a sudden Felix has regressed to where he was at the start of the series and is now an active detriment to Gotrek, rather than holding his own and improving over the series. Judge for yourself when you get that far.
As an aside, blind reactions are something of a hobby for me, so feel free to dump your thoughts here and on the 40k thread as you finish books-always nice to talk about these things without the tankie brigade on most other Warhammer sites.
This is actually the second WFB book I've read. The first one is that Legend of Sigmar trilogy that I've put my thoughts on a number of pages back, like my disdain for the Norscans and Viking raiding culture in general.
In fairness, the Norscans have always been the Bad Guys-they are not always at war with the Empire and Kislev, but that is mostly because they need time to replenish their numbers and resources between wars, not to mention all their own internecine conflicts. I do not think any work has ever portrayed them in a positive light without thereafter revealing that viewpoint character to be sorely mistaken, usually right before the Norscans enslave/kill them.
I know, but you don't really scream "Badass" to me when you say "Oh ho ho all of these women and children are so pathetic by allowing us to kill them so easily". You say coward and weakling in my opinion.

Like...they are followers of Chaos? They may pay lip service to other savage deities, but pretty much all Norse are dyed-in-the-wool worshipers of the Ruinous Powers under a variety of names, and functionally no different than the Kurgan, Hung and Tong. They are the villains of the setting; in fact, since the Norscans form most of the Hordes attacking Kislev, the Empire and Bretonnia, they are the single most visible and prevalent Bad Guy faction after the Greenskins.

Nyeh, the flavor is now on the new idoneth and the upcoming new edition. Also, slaanesh may or may not end up breaking free by the end of the year depending on the rumours' veracity.
