"A pleasure to meet you, Mary." Wylfing scratched his chin thoughtfully. "Hm, I wouldn't much like eating in the dining hall if she is present. I'm sure these machines are perfectly capable of delivering food elsewhere in the house if we let them know where we're going beforehand. Speaking of this place, do you happen to know who lives here? What is it doing in the middle of a swamp?"

Something was itching him. He put one hand on the hilt of his sword and looked around. As someone with Sight, he could see through illusions and sense magic, but first, he had to know where to look...

Wylfing is referring to invisible!Friedich.

[Dining hall]

Mai shrugged. "He can usually handle it. He might even be better at it than me. Xavier usually tries to get along with people unless they really piss him off."

She glanced off after Nara. "Though you'd think that, given her nature, she'd have a slightly different personality programmed in. But then I don't know anything about computers, so I don't know how easy or hard that would be."

[Roof —> entry hall]

His work finished, Xavier dropped off the roof and entered back in through the door just in time to hear Nara's assessment of the lack of armor. "But if he was that enamored with high tech," said Xavier, walking up to her, "he'd have the place designed with a high-tech aesthetic. Lots of chrome and all that. The fact that he has high tech but chooses it to look like clockwork implies that he prefers old-style stuff but doesn't want to sacrifice practicality." What's a Fourteen, anyway? Maybe some kind of powered armor.

"But even then, Gothic armor — and ordinary plate armor in general — is too standard as a decoration. You'd think that one day, someone would get the idea of using mirror armor, plated mail, or gendarme armor just for something different, but, no, they always choose plate armor for some reason." He flared his wings. "Everyone likes patterns, I guess."

He inclined his head slightly and extended his hand. "Xavier Sunyo."

"Uh..." Sven looks over at Samira, "I think I'll go with them, Aseyu told you to watch Tammy but I'm sure she'll be fine with us. Unless you're going?"

Friedrich notices Wylfing's fiddling with the sword and realises he must have been detected somehow. He comes back into the light, "Hi Mary," he smiles nervously and looks over at Wylfing, "It's Freidrich."

I'm going to be gone for a few hours which I just found out a few minutes ago. So. Yeah.

Samira rubbed her head. It was hard to recall, and made her skull ache slightly, but she pulled the memories out from the fog. "Yes, now I... Matthias Cline," she said. "We meet again, in more pleasant circumstances." She stood, groaning slightly. "My new friends here were getting bored of sitting in the library, so we were heading to see this theater our enigmatic host has in his basement."

To Sven, she said, "no, I said I'd watch Tammy, and so I will. Can't go back on my word now." She was a bit uncomfortable with how large their group had gotten, though...

[Wine Cellar]

"...huh," Alice said, looking at Franklin incredulously. Silence. And then, "you, uh, mentioned you were around in the 60s or 70s or some era like that, where people were doing a fuckton of drugs, right?"

Wylfing blinked. "What reason would you have for concealing yourself? No, wait a moment. You heard that queen, didn't you? If you didn't, it's not important." There was a wolfish grin on his face that didn't seem consistent with his behavior up to that point. "Mind helping me play a little game?"

"Truth be told," Alice replied, "I'm kinda imagining you've been through some serious Hunter S Thompson shit here." She hadn't touched her glass of mead yet, instead thoughtfully examining the way it and its glass refracted the light. Then she shrugged. "Or maybe your world's just that crazy, in which case, where can I buy a ticket?"

Alice actually suspected both were true.

Ozzy rolled from his backside onto his front, arms laid limply at his sides. He yawned, scratched the side of his muzzle for a brief moment, then resumed his rest. His recovery was moving swiftly, but the hours Ozzy had spent wandering in the marsh without food or shelter still left their mark, painted in the gloom beneath his eyes and the strain that lay within the simple action of rolling over.

Mary was surprised that Fredrich never left, but considering that he was a mage, she should've seen it coming.

"Hi Fredrich." she said.

[Outside-Entry Hall] Bringing in another character.

Man, I wished I didn't come here so late.

Nathan walked in, his shoes partly muddy from the swamp. He was glad that he could managed to get away from work for a while, although he wished he could've caught up with Thomas and his family. Damn schedule.

Although he wondered who on earth would build a mansion in the middle of a swamp.

Fixing his tuexdo, he decided to see what the rest of the place looked liked.

To John's relief, Ozzy yawned, a sign that he was still alive. Though the left him with question what happened to him to get in that state.

Irilemi turned as she heard Ozzy stir. "Our injured comrade awakens."

She took a seat near John and Ozzy. To John, she said, "how has he been faring? I hope that mage's healing spell did him no injury. From what little I saw of her, I can imagine the twisted woman who restored you leaving something behind with her vile magics to get vengeance upon us through him. But perhaps the healing spell was genuine and she intends to deceive us another way." She paused, and realized she didn't even know the name of the man she was speaking to. "And my apologies for not greeting you earlier. Busy times, and intellectual discussions." After scanning him for magic and finding none, she bowed and said, "Irilemi vashon'Suela."

Gonna wait on Wine Cellar, let Darkblood catch up.

Irilemi smirked strangely at being called "madam." When John had introduced himself, she said, "likewise." She studied him for a few moments. "You're... Earthborn, yes? And an American, if I'm not mistaken." She paused. "Sorry, just trying to figure out where exactly you're from. It helps to know these sorts of things. Most of the Americans I've encountered worked for Western Amalgamated, so I don't have a good perspective on what your people are like. I'm a bit curious, truth be told, given all I've heard..."

"It sounds like you come from a harsh world." Remarked Claire, quietly. "Although, even without the whole 'proud warrior' concept, I suspect many people would still drink too much and cry to prostitutes." She smiled faintly for a moment. "How did you end up as an assassin, anyway? It's not exactly a typical job... At least, not where I'm from."

[Library]

"Let's goooo." Urged Tamara, lightly tugging on Samira's sleeve and glancing between her and Anne. She was obviously eager to see the cinema, and probably the garden as well. "Please?" Briefly, she wondered if anyone was going to tell Claire where they had gone...

Aseyu nodded thoughtfully. "Hey," she said, "you hear that?" The door was thick, but the sound of water running in the bathroom, thanks to Bianca's shower, was just barely audible. "Ah. Just someone washing up. Never mind."

"Anyhow," Aseyu said, keeping her voice lower in case the shower's occupant was listening, "a lot of people end up in my job because a mage did this or that to them or their loved ones. Revenge, basically. Like I said, proud warriors. But me?" To buy herself a bit of time to get her thoughts in order, she sat up and moved to sit cross-legged across from Claire, within easy reach of the tea she'd order. She took a sip, then finally said, "I paid better attention to the world than most. I saw how the beggars vanished from the streets. How the rules and laws of society did not seem to apply to the mages. How when one was wronged by magic, none dared speak of it, even though our culture usually answers wrongs in feuds that can swallow decades." She shook her head. "But what could I do? I put such grim thoughts to the back of my head, as many of my people do. Pretending not to see the evils of magic. Well... at first." Another sip, while she waited to see if Claire had any comment.

[Parlor]

Irilemi smirked and said, "ah, Earthborn guns. I am quite familiar with them. AK-47s, TEC-9s, and those damn NRK-2s, mostly." She tapped her chin. "A gunstore, hmm? Why that? Any particular feeling that the world would be a better place if more people had guns? Did you see a market and exploit it? Or something else?"

Note that the NRK-2 is fictitious.

Anne noticed the older man glancing at her, and felt relieved that he didn't look all that bothered (or at least had the courtesy to not show it if he was). The cat on his shoulders apparently felt otherwise, but she didn't particularly care about winning over an animal. She really didn't have that much experience with them apart from her father's horses, anyway.

She smiled and bobbed her head at him in turn, but said nothing. Given that they were due to be heading down to the theater soon, she really didn't want to hold the group up further, especially considering that Tamara was getting rather impatient. Frankly, she herself was getting impatient, but out of a sense of politeness didn't vocalize it.

Instead, there was another concern she had - Tamara's caretaker had no way of knowing that they were down in the theater, considering she walked out with Aseyu a while before the idea was even put forth. Anne figured that the two of them were done with...that thing Anne figured they were going to do by now.

"So, how do we let Tamara's caretaker know that we're not going to be here by the time she gets back?" she asked Samira.

NRK-2s? Must've been one of those other worlds (or other timeline) things. He haven't heard of anything like that.

"My father," he explained, "Owned a gunshop. Had it ever since me and my brother were kids. After he died, I took over." He smiled, "He was one my inspirations, and I wanted to preserve his memory."

[Basement-Sparring Room]

The first thing Nathan decided to do was to check downstairs. To his surprise, he found a rack with a variety of weapons-including a paintball gun. Of course, the question is, why would anyone want to fight in a large Mansion.

Still, he couldn't help but take a peak. He decided to look at the weapons on the rack.

"Interesting," Irilemi said. She considered John — unlike Agustin, he struck her as a man without particularly strong beliefs in the system he was a part of. "So, this America of yours. What is it like, really? All I hear is Western Amalgamated and ADAM chatter, which paints quite the mixed picture. But you, you are..." she looked for an inoffensive phrase, "well, as a man who owns his own business, you must have some level of favor fro society. Although I understand from Dr. Rose that your appearance might be a hindrance in the 'upward mobility' you Americans all seem to value."

[Library]

Samira frowned and said, "hmm. That could be a problem. And, well, I'm not really sure where they went, exactly. Or if it would be wise to barge in..." she tapped her forehead. "Any ideas? Anyone willing to knock on some doors and see if Aseyu or Claire answer? Or have a better idea?"

Kind of an asshole, but he's honest and keeps his word, which is more than I can say for a lot of people. ADAM is..." she paused as she tried to recall what it stood for. "Agricultural Development Alternatives Mobile. A really well-disguised mercenary company, basically. Supposedly their job is to protect farms in developing nations from terrorists and stuff, but really, they're just fancy corporate thugs."

She tilted her head. "What year is it where you're from? That might help."

"Looks like we're not alone up here anymore." She murmured. Claire looked over at Aseyu and smiled for a moment before standing up and fetching her underwear off the floor. "It's a bit breezy in here anyway." She said, idly, as she slipped her bra on.

"Large groups of people motivated by revenge and a warrior culture to fight and kill their magic-possessing, power-abusing oppressors..." She said, thoughtfully, as she quickly put on her rather conservative-looking panties. "Sounds like a rough life, to say the least. Not to mention what that kind of pervasive animosity must do to your society's overall stability." Dressed in her undergarments, she sat down on the side of the bed and looked over at Aseyu. "I come from a very different environment, to say the least..."

She paused briefly, and then asked. "You said you were immune to spells, earlier? Is this by way of technology, or..? And on a broader note, how would you define 'magic', exactly? I'm curious to know if we have different understandings of the subject." A small, guilty smile appeared on her face. "I hope I'm not boring you... Exploring things scientifically isn't always as interesting for other people as it is for me."

[Library]

"I guess we could leave a note or something?" Suggested Tamara, fidgeting idly. While she certainly didn't want disappear and leave Claire in the dark, she also really, really wanted to see what was downstairs. She hoped that finding a way to inform Claire of where they were going wouldn't take long; her imagination was running wild and the theatre was getting better and better with every minute.

Wylfing rolled his eyes. "No, nothing like that. Our dear queen is in the dining area. She doesn't seem to like it when people pay her no heed, but sadly, that is exactly what she deserves. Could you turn invisible, sneak inside, and tell anyone else in there that unless threatened with violence, the queen is to be utterly and completely ignored? And if you could tell everyone else in the mansion, that might be helpful. Invisibility is optional in other areas. What do you say?"
