Turns out this SMT x FE thing is more of an original thing taking concepts from both titles. Interesting...though not what I expected at all.

Also seen enough bubbly, gaudy character designs, moe characters and over the top anime action in a trailer to know that those kind of games typically aren't for me.

They're very, very different things, in tone, design, and target audience.

Honestly, I'm more interested in the game knowing it's completely original than if it had been a mash of characters from both series.
I just hope the difficulty takes more from Fire Emblem than SMT.

the original cast is a +, though its not necessarily ONLY going to be an original cast.
most crossover rpgs i see revolve around an original cast and include a ton of cameos in varying degrees of roles.
and yeah, this is significantly more anime than the main smt games have ever been.

its not the anime for me so much (i keep using it but even im not entirely sure what it means) but the tone, designs and complete subversion of my expectations, including any significant sign of actual SMT influence.

Why would Nintendo/Atlus spend a shitton of money making fancy new graphics and movies and gameplay for a prank? Seems like a waste of money.
Also, I think Nintendo explicitly said before the Direct that they aren't joking, and I think the Direct was just bad timing (it's no longer April 1st in Japan, I think?)

I think Pandora's Tower is. The credits say the copyright is owned by Ganbarion and Nintendo which sounds like the two jointly own the IP. The Last Story might say something similar but I haven't beaten it yet.
