And irrational words/actions get laughed at, so there's that.

It seriously took you this long to see Fury Road Handle? tongue

And yes, it is a truly amazing film, and my favorite of 2015. That said, it is only my third favorite action film of The New '10s.

[up][up]Among other things. Isn't that, after all, the whole conceit of the film? A display of glorious irrationality, madness, and insanity? Sometimes it's funny. Sometimes it's awesome. Sometimes it's heartbreaking. Sometimes it's horrifying. Every time, it makes you feel.

Little people deride what they cannot understand. I do not begrudge them that. They need to protect their puny souls from too much passion. It could destroy them, otherwise. They are whom sanity is for: the weak.cool

[up]The last film that made me scream "THIS IS THE GREATEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE" was Pacific Rim. But never before has a movie made me say "This is the greatest film I will ever see in my life. I might as well end it now."tongue

If Wasteland has a lot of connection to Fury Road, I kinda want to see some civil war among remnants of Joe's army.

[up][up] Personally, I rank Captain America Civil War and Edge Of Tomorrow over Fury Road. But FR still remains above all my other favorite action films of the 2010s so far.

Edge Of Tomorrow would have been great if not for the fucking ending, which ruined the whole point.

The only thing wrong with the ending to Edge of Tomorrow was that horrible fucking John Newman song that started to play at the cut to black. Everything else was perfect. I've seen the arguments against it before so there's no need to rehearse them - I disagree and always will.

Cage and Rita EARNED their happy ending, and that's all there is to it.

Yeah, I was much more satisfied with the ending to the movie than I was with the LN/manga ending.

Back to Fury Road, I put it ahead of Pacific Rim, Dredd, John Wick, The Raid films, and Kingsman Secret Service in terms of my favorite action films of the decade, although PR is only a millimeter away from FR in terms of my rankings. And while I do think that the fist fight between Cap and WS and the montage of Cage and Rita's fighting scenes, not to mention the final action climax, are still cool to me, I can't deny the superb stunt and action seen in FR. Seriously, the last chase scene is pretty much worth watching the entire film for.

Atm I think i'd probably put fury road at the top where action films are concerned, just because it was such a different movie with unique sensibilities and a great vision. Everything about it was very elegantly put together, from the characterization, the action setpieces, etc. It's a simple concept but damn if it's artful about how it goes about it.

Pacific Rim was entertaining but is far from being my favorite film directed by Del Toro.

Indeed, Fury Road is just such a well made film. I just like the story and characters of Winter Soldier and EOT better. Even though I absolutely adore FR, I do feel that the characters and plot are really simplistic. However, it is executed in such a masterful manner that that doesn't bother me.

I think because the story is very simpler it work, as honest trailer point out this is pretty much "Mario kart in hell" since the premise is just "Inmortal want his rape-brides,furiosa said fuck him, they race" and the movie dosent pretent is nothing else, but instead of being pretention about it or making fun of it like other film, they just remain silent and let the action speak....and ohhh boy it does, there is a reason the trope page consider this the most orky film ever made, the movie is just pure insanity and we love it that way.

Yes, for Pacific Rim, the mere existence of Pans Labyrinth makes me realize that I can't consider a movie to be "the greatest ever" if it is not the best from its own creator.

Also, MMFR & PR had two different approaches to action movie tropes. PR was laughing with us by lampshading them all over the place (like the equally epic Kingsman), but MMFR decided to defy them and to show that you could create a great action movie without being either dumb as a brick or completely tongue-in-cheek - a good, serious action movie.

Yeah, personally I found FR incredibly fresh because it has little to no quips, with most jokes being visual rather than verbal. I appreciate that sort of things.

I don't think it was necessarily that with Pacific Rim. There's only one moment I recall that came close to a lampshade hanging (Stacker summing up Chuck as "an egotistical jerk with daddy issues".) It's more like it plays many of its tropes deliberately straight than ironically straight. I wish I could find the Brows Held High video about this; Kyle describes Pacific Rim better in his "Favorite Films of 2013" video, but it seems to have been lost in the Blip shutdown.

You know where the most salt in that movie was? In Immortan Joe. The man is so salty.

I wouldn't say that FR wasn't serious, moreso that it had some goofy, comic-book-y elements that nevertheless didn't detract from the plot or emotional stakes in the film.

Kind of like the Wachowsky's Speed Racer, except more sincere and passionate.

Seriously, though, why are the Wachoswsky siblings so obsessed with neon bling in their futuristic settings? It's borderline painful.

Speaking of Wacky Racing movies, it's kind of sad that, after six titles, The Fast And The Furious hasn't managed to get even close to the one single Fury Road.

And when will we get a Wacky Races film?
