You play the Bearer.

The weapon does not choose the bearer, though the challenges to be found in the hiding places of the weapons are meant to be overcome with the qualities the Deity in particular which created the weapon wants on a Hero. There are also a certain amount of magical wards and such to try and prevent the agents of the Dark Lord to get their hands on these weapons, though these are not infallible.

So, um, Sorcerers.

They've existed at least as long as the Dragons, correct?

I'm assuming since they are magic given solid form, not all of them will look all-together human.

They entered the world at around the same time, yes. Around twenty five to thirty years ago. Can be less. And they can take on any humanoid form.

I'm definitely interested in this, and I already have a couple of ideas. Just to sort of clarify something for one of them, though - if I went with a Divine Arms bearer, would it be okay for me to have them get their weapon throughout the course of the RP, rather than start out with it? Because that could be a really interesting character arc.

Anyway here's Blackwall

So is it entirely possible for one to get multiple sacred arms by various means?

Random thought of the day: What this RP really needs is a 5-dragon Sentai team.

I put the joking pothole because it's supposed to be a relatively serious RP, IIRC. But you're right - we'll see how it goes.

Eh, if you can play it straight (keeping it consistent with the universe) and not make it an overly-obvious Expy or parody, it could work. (Also, welcome back.)

Alright then! The moment that was being awaited for. Here, I shall submit the sheet plus an example.

  • Name: What are you known as, including all titles and nicknames.
  • Age: How long since you were born into the world?
  • Gender: Male, female, none, both, other?
  • Species / Class: Specify your species and playing class. For dragons, say your color and race of your humanoid form. For sorcerers, say you're a sorcerer, which species did you incarnate as and the color of your magic. For Sacred Arm users, say you're a sacred arm user and your species. For Heroes, just your race.
  • Appearance: Please describe all relevant appearances your character might possess.
  • Personality: Please describe your character's way of thinking, emotions, motivations and how they are in general.
  • Skills: Describe your skills over here. What can you do, how do you fight, what do you know, what magic you have access to, what are your specialties, etc.
  • Assets: What do you own? What do you fight with? What do you carry with you? Where do you live?
    • Sacred Arm: Write the name of your sacred arm, how does it look like and what does it do.
  • Bio: What has your character done with their life so far?

  • Name: Sophia Zoe Caerias - The Red Paladin of Caerias
  • Age: 24
  • Gender: Female
  • Species / Class: Sacred Arm Bearer - Human
  • Appearance: For all that is good!
  • Personality: Sophia is a kind hearted and selfless woman, who cannot bear to see suffering and pain without taking action. She is passionate, naive and a hopeless idealist, who dreams of a world where everyone can be happy and peace can reign undisputed. She is also a bit of a scholar, with a deep love of all things religious, be it temples, saints, gods and artifacts. Her own faith is with Lerian, the prime benevolent deity of humankind.
  • Skills: Before Sophia became a Bearer, she was already a pilgrim adventurer. She underwent an spiritual journey through the land, depending on her wits, her agility and her skill with a spear to survive both the wilds and the influence of Karnas. She is quick, agile and surefooted, a good climber and has rather good reflexes. She also knows how to tend to wounds, a little weaving and a certain deal of Divine Magic. However, since getting her hands on the Divine Arm, her abilities have been amplified. She has stopped aging, doesn't need to eat or drink as often, require little sleep, now heals from her wounds a lot faster than before and even the scars she bore in the past have vanished from her form. She can move faster and can use the magic of her blade to hit harder than her shape would indicate. Her skill divine magic has also shot up, allowing her to heal the wounds of her allies, cure afflictions, use the light of her God offensively and more.
  • Assets: Sophia carries little on her person. She has her travel clothes, armor, a travelers pack, flasks of Holy Water, travel rations, a few books, a cloak, her holy symbol and her Sacred Arm.
    • Sacred Arm:
      • Name: Holy Blade Erinthia
      • Shape: Erinthia appears a two handed blade with a pure white metal so clear as to work as a perfect mirror. When bid, it seems to glow with a white aura of light. It's crossguard is rather ornate and made of silver, with the handle being covered in smooth blue tinted leather.
      • Abilities: Erinthias as a Sacred Blade is nearly indestructible and possesess a mighty edge that never dulls. It also has a powerful effect as a defender of humanoids, thus dealing more damage against beast and specially unholy demons. It's main ability lies in the manipulation of sacred light be it to bolster the energies of allies or to be released as powerful blasts against enemies of its wielder.
      • Enhancements to the Wielder: As mentioned before, Erinthias prevents Sophia from growing older, gives her a healing factor and improves her physical skills since the moment she laid hands on it. For as long as it remains in her possession, it improves the Paladin's skill to use Divine Magic and allows her to go on longer without being bothered to eat, sleep or drink.
  • Bio: Sophia is one of the growing number of people orphaned by the current state of the world. Her parents where killed by a demon raid when she was but a babe and thus she ended up being given to one of the few remaining temples of Lerian, in the outskirts of the Empire. There she was raised with love, learning from a young age the tenets of her faith and fully immersing herself within. Never knowing her family, she made Lerian and his angels, his Saints and his servants on Aldaris her own family. She read of the scriptures, becoming an expert on the story of her religion and people. However, as Sophia grew, she became restless with her lot in life. More and more refugees came to the Caerias Temple, looking for safe haven and telling the stories of all the pain going on in the world. Thus, Sophia prepared for her eventual journey into the world, working harder at her classes with the Paladins of her Order until finally feeling fit to go out into the world. She got to see with her own eyes the horrors of Karnas' rule, helped out as much as she could the people she found... but eventually desired to do even more. Even with her own God absent, Sophia steered her journey into the old temples, trying to find guidance until one day she stumbled into the vault of Erinthia. By the end of her challenges, which tested her readiness and her own Faith, a half dying Sophia touched the magnificent blade and was reborn. A few months have passed since that discovery and now Sophia fights as the Red Paladin of Caerias, doing all in her power to stop the spreading of the darkness into the world.

And there we go! Now for some closing words before you all start making your characters...

This will be a Reserved RP, which means that I will be reserving the right to deny characters on purely subjective basis in order to try and preserve the feel and tone of the RP. Even an incredibly well made character might be denied if I don't feel like they match the tone or I don't think they will work well on this quest. This might be the most nitpicky I have ever been when accepting characters so don't feel bad if your character is not accepted, as that most likely just means that while well made, I don't think they fit the RP. Then again, don't be too afraid. I might also accept your character without a single issue coming up.

And with that comment out of the way, I declare these Signup open!

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

Ah, daltar. Just when I was getting a little bit too stressed... you give me a reason to keep calm and stay.

I'll be working on a sheet. By the way, I am so using this for my Green Dragon's human form. What? It's a nice picture. I like it. Plus, it fits the personality of the character. And the color. Or is it too much, daltar?

Would the dissonance of a player and character sharing the same name be too much?

  • Name: Gerrard Eiding
  • Age: 20
  • Gender: Male
  • Species / Class: Human
  • Appearance: I am desperately, hopelessly out of my depth. Why should I care?
  • Personality: Gerrard is confident in himself. He thinks that everything's gonna eventually turn out alright, that the good guys will win and the bad guys will lose. Death does not scare him, because he does not bother to factor that into any sort of possibility in his life. He misses home, and anyone who can listen probably will end up listening to him talk about it.
  • Skills:
    • 15 years of hard training and work. Gerrard is strong, fast, and capable. He is at the peak of human physical performance.
    • Skill with Pluck and Tenacity. Having defended his town from bandits for two solid years, Gerrard is an extremely skilled melee fighter.
    • He's a handyman. Gerrard worked all over town to train himself to his physical peak, and as a result can chop wood, build buildings, and basically do anything necessary to maintain a small town.
  • Assets:
    • A longsword, Pluck. The blade was smithed by Old Man MacRagge, out in his forge. During the winter Gerrard and his family would sometimes visit him on old nights, the rhythmic clanging of the forge lulling young Gerrard to sleep. The hilt's leather straps, and the leather straps of his armor and shield, were made by Stillman the Hunter, who lived in a shack outside town but would come into town every day to give freely the hides and meat he did not use himself.
    • A kite shield, Tenacity. Again smithed and strapped by townsfolk. The crest, Gerrard's family crest, was painted by Louisa, Gerrard's fiancee; she has stars in her eyes, a little pudge on her—a common target of the bullies Gerrard defended her from—and a shock of red hair on her head.
    • A suit of armor, Grit. Each sheaf of mail on is inscribed with a wish of 'good luck' or 'you're in our hearts' from another villager.
    • The collective hopes, dreams, and belief of an entire village are riding on him. Hundreds of people believe in him. That has to count for something, right?
    • A pack of delicious baked goods from Louisa's father, Harvard the Baker. The man likes Gerrard, but also threatened to kill him if he died in battle and broke his daughter's heart. He also mentioned that he'd rescind it if Gerrard came back from the dead, laughed, and sent the young man down the road with his food.
  • Bio: It truly took a village to raise Gerrard. Since his childhood, Gerrard was raised with the support of his entire village, a small hamlet known as Stalwart. It was founded by a knight errant and his family, and expanded slowly as a bastion against the wilderness of the south. Seventeen years before Gerrard's birth, it also became a bastion against the Dark Lord. The people who lived in Stalwart lived by the motto Not One Step Back, and prided themselves on the fact that they knew their enemy. Gerrard was raised on such tales of chivalry and valor. When he said he wanted to be an adventurer and defeat The Dark Lord, his family saw the hard glint and determination in his eyes, and knew he was serious. The whole village knew. Gerrard applied himself viciously, using every aspect of the village, any means of hard work, as a way of training his mind and body. On his eighteenth birthday the strong, strapping young bruiser of a man received Pluck, Tenacity, and Grit, and two years of hard training and fighting later he is ready to begin his true quest to vanquish the Dark Lord.

Well, Firock seems like the best choice on my end for the moment. Because it's either make a new character or adapt an old character, and I usually prefer the second option.

But out of the characters I've made for medieval settings/can be easily adapted to medieval settings, there's...

My Human paladin guy, which I don't think we need too many of running around.

My Human wizard guy with half of his right arm replaced by a magical gauntlet-hand. Though, that might work as a Sacred Arm I suppose... I did not intend for that to be any kind of pun, I swear. Anyway, he's only a half-serious character though, given that his biggest personality shtick is being terribly afraid of women.

My half-Human, half-Neko obscenely rich guy, who would probably horribly clash with this RP's tone. Plus I'm playing him in another already so I don't feel the need to play him here too.

My womanizing martial artist pirate Human guy, who like the above probably wouldn't mesh well with the RP's tone.

And finally, the namesake character I mentioned before, Firock Finion. Specifically, he's a Lizardfolk archer.

  • Name: Donatus. Usually introduces himself as Donatus, the Wise and Great. But people just call him Donatus.
  • Age: 27
  • Gender: Male
  • Species / Class: Green Dragon, with the race of his humanoid form being human.
  • Appearance: As a human, Donatus is a very showy man. He walks around in garbs which seem to come out of a more rustic era, smiling and waving to any who come near him. However, if the need appears, he shifts into a form that's the halfway between his human form and his dragon form: green wings sprout from his back, his feet and hands are replaced by claws, his entire skin is replaced by green scales, his teeth grow considerably sharper, two jewel-like horns appear at the top of his head and his muscles grow to show just how strong this form is. However, nothing compares to Donatus' dragon form: a majestic green dragon whose scales look more like jewels than actual scales.
  • Personality: Donatus is, like said before, a very showy man. He displays his physical traits to everyone around, is quite boisterous (often shouting tales of his great courage and wisdom) and enjoys to spend a night in the local inn with the women of the city. But when a more serious situation appears, Donatus' seems to change completely: he turns into a focused, intelligent man, ready to defend his companions (and even to take charge of his group) against any threat, often being able to use the boisterous side of his persona to deliver inspiring and charismatic speeches. One trait that does not change between the two sides of Donatus is his hospitality: he treats everyone like they were family, being very friendly to everyone- from a random stranger asking for some bread to a fellow Dragon- and always ready to help those in need, no matter the problem, because in the end, the smile of a friend is one of the best things for him.
  • Skills:
    • Being a Green Dragon and having a breath of magical force, Donatus chose to adapt this magical force to his favorite element: the earth. As a human, his magic can only go as far as moving chunks of rock and manipulating a couple of trees, but in his draconian form, he can manipulate larger chunks of rock, being able to effortlessly create a system of caves inside a mountain. He often uses these powers to create jewels and other shiny wonders. However, using too much of his magic will eventually drain him, leading to long rest times.
    • Another vantage of being a Dragon is that Donatus is very strong. But instead of using a different form every month like other Green Dragons, Donatus decided to use only one humanoid form and hone that form to perfection, improving every ability he could have- from strength to intelligence. This doesn't mean his humanoid form is a strong as a bodybuilder or as smart as the greatest scientists in the world, but it does make him the kind of person that starts those little rumors that eventually lead to legends.
    • And to support his status as a "great host", Donatus has also honed his cooking skills, having paid for great cooks from other cities to visit him and teach him the ways. The result?... well, Donatus isn't the greatest cook in the world, but he can make a satisfying meal for everyone if they ever find themselves lost in the desert with only a couple of mushrooms and water.
  • Assets: Due to his natural affinity with magic (and his improved affinity with the element of Earth), Donatus possesses a large amount of jewels and diamonds that he created as he slowly learned more and more about magic. Even with the riches those diamonds could bring him, he has a fairly humble house, and deep under that house lies the safe he created for his jewels. He also uses them to help others in his city and to invest in new, up-and-coming businesses.
  • Bio: Donatus was raised by a small couple in a medium-sized village, and thankfully, once the couple realized what they had in their hands, they decided to treat the dragon like the child they never had (and unfortunately, never could have, due to an unknown illness). The small dragon was hidden inside a cave not too far away from the village, and the couple would often spend weeks in the cavern, feeding the dragon and teaching it about the outside world. The couple later got what they wanted when, after years of book-reading and "homeschooling", the dragon finally achieved its human form and took the name of Donatus, vowing to help the couple live the life they never got. Donatus remained in the cavern, improving his magical skills and learning how to manipulate the earth around him, until after more years of hard work, he rewarded the couple with priceless jewels, so they could finally live the good life. The couple didn't want to leave Donatus, but he said that now he was going to venture and live in the outside world, their lives would be in danger if his identity as a dragon was discovered. The couple left to a far away town, saying they would visit their son one day, while Donatus entered the village with a sack full of jewels and began a life of helping the community and others to achieve their dreams and goals.

Daltar, I took some liberties with the character: mostly using the idea that dragons are well-known outside, so he kept his identity as one a secret, and that as a Green Dragon, he could hone his skills to use one type of elemental magic the other dragons do not cover. But I fear he may be too overpowered?

[up] He can manipulate the earth, not just move rocks around. So he could easily pull some gems buried deep inside a rock, if you want to go the "he doesn't make them" route. There won't be the need for making more, since he has a small stash hidden under his house he hasn't touched in a long long time.

Moooooo~!

Ahh... I should be working on other things, but I couldn't help myself from writing a sign-up here! >.<

Oh well, here goes!

  • Name: Lann, The Dark Crest Knight of Colhen
  • Age: 25
  • Gender: Male
  • Species / Class: Sacred Arms Bearer- Human
  • Appearance: “You misunderstand... I am simply taking a stroll.”
  • Personality: Lann is a very noble and kind-hearted knight. Brave, courageous, and swift with his thinking, Lann is often considered by those of Colhen the pinnacle of knightly virtues. However, he places the lives of his companions over anything else, and will gladly sacrifice himself for their sakes if it meant that they would survive. He seeks to create a world there is no longer suffering, and a place where no one shall be left alone. Contrary to his personality, he follows the Goddess Morrighan, but only in order to access her powers in order to defend everyone.
  • Skills: In his previous life as a normal mortal, Lann was an extremely skilled dual-wielder of the sword; almost unmatched as he was able to place his full strength into just one arm. Despite being a wielder of heavy armor, he was incredibly fast and agile upon his feet, able to both dodge and strike his foes with quick precision. His cooking skills are also top-notch and knows basic herbs and medicine. He also has access to a sole skill that Morrighan has blessed him with. After obtaining his Divine Arms, however... his abilities have been improved drastically.
    • Lann also has access to Morrighan's gift which was left inside her temple along with Asmodeus; Dark Knight, which covers his entire body in pure dark unholy energy, and granting him two long swords made entirely of unholy black flames. This ability increases Lann's damage output greatly, and the more damage he deals to his opponent, the more his damage output is increased. However, the ability only lasts two minutes, and once the two minutes have passed, Lann falls into a temporary comatose state (usually lasts for ten minutes or so). There's also a second phase of Dark Knight which further increases Lann's damage output, and prevents him from feeling pain or getting tired for its duration. However, the cost of utilizing the second phase of Dark Knight is Lann's life.
  • Assets: Lann usually wears his casual clothes ever since obtaining his Divine Arms. He has a fair sum of money, an above-average traveling pack filled with various things, a black traveling cloak outlined in red in order to hide his identity, two extremely durable and white blades crafted from the bones of a mighty cyclops capable of withstanding heavy blows, and his Sacred Arm.
    • Sacred Arm:
      • Name: The Dark Crest Suit, Asmodeus
      • Shape: When in it's unreleased form Asmodeus takes the form of a simple golden bracelet around Lann's wrist. However, it is capable at once to take its true shape which is a set of golden armor outlined in black with a red feather-plume coming from his helmet. Lann only has to think it, and Asmodeus will instantly convert itself into its true form around Lann.
      • Abilities: Asmodeus is a nearly-indestructible suit of armor that offers Lann fair protection. While it wont directly protect him from the force of the damage, it will protect him from being pierced or cut. While it heavily increases Lanns resistance to dark magic, the elements, the climate, and curses, it makes him much weaker to holy-based magic. However, its true ability is that while it is equipped it greatly boosts the user's agility, precision, and movements.
      • Enhancements to the Wielder: Lann, like other Arms Users, no longer ages nor does he require the normal necessaries that most humans need to survive such as drinking, eating, or sleeping. It also improves his dark magic greatly, and gave him a small boost to his strength.
  • Bio: Lann was born and raised in a fair city far away from the Capital city of Verthnix, named Colhen. Living a happy life with his family in this seaport city was a simple one where Lann was raised as a mercenary by his folks, and ended up taking on freelance jobs that benefited the people of his town. Through these jobs, he gained the attention of the oracle of his village and fell in love with her, and eventually became known as the Knight of Colhen. One day, he received a task from a strange man to obtain a set of armor that would bring great peace to Colhen, and would prevent them from being corrupted by the Emperor. Doubting this, yet unwilling to let such an artifact pass by, Lann proceeded to accept this quest and eventually came across the temple of Morrighan deep within the ruins of old Colhen. Here, Lann fought tooth and nail against creatures that he had never faced before... and that he had wished he would never have had to face. With a broken arm, shattered ribs, and battered armor, he eventually came to the chamber that held the armor Asmodeus. Placing his hand upon Asmodeus, he felt great dark powers emittig from the armor as feelings of... hatred and rage assaulted him. Hesitant... he placed his hand once more upon Asmodeus, and it immediately turned into a golden bracelet upon his hand... which completely baffled him. It healed his wounds instantly, and granted him new life. Exiting the ruins, Lann looked over towards Colhen... only to see that it was burning. Rushing to the town, he saw the armies of the Emperor ravishing and destroying his town. Looking desperately, and fighting any enemy he could find, he eventually came to his beloved oracle... whose body was mangled, and whose head was decapitated. A fury and rage unlike any other assaulted Lann as he begged to the gods to grant him power to protect those who were still alive, and to avenge his lover... and suddenly... his prayers were answered. The dark feeling he felt when he touched Asmodeus in Morrighan's temple assaulted him once again... and he immediately knew how to use Asmodeus... and the dark blessing of immense power that came with it. Without hesitation, he accepted the dark feelings, placed his lover's body onto the ground, and stared at the horde of soldiers who had laid their eyes on him, and were taunting him of what they had done to the innocent and pure oracle. Immediately, he activated his Divine Arm, and the dark gift left by Morrighan... before annihilating all of the Emperor's soldiers in Colhen with an undying rage with such brutality that he one would think he was a demon himself. Soon after passing out from exerting himself... Lann woke up hoping for it all to be a nightmare... only to face the harsh truth that it was indeed reality. Standing up, and glancing over the destruction of his city... and the once beautiful body of the oracle, he promptly set the whole entire city ablaze... burning everything to ashes in order to erase the dreadful memory... and so that he wouldn't be tempted to back-down and return home instead of chasing his goal of defeating the Emperor. As he left the burning city of Colhen, Lann was saw by a group of traveling merchants... who had previously seen his actions earlier. They decided to dub him “The Dark Crest Knight of Colhen”, to which he accepted. A year has passed since that day, and Lann is now working as a traveling free-lance 'Knight' who would take any job that involved helping the people, or going against the Emperor.

Preeetty sure I over did it a bit, especially with the Goddesses' ability and the Bio... soo... do tell me what may need adjusting.

Sometimes, you just gotta do the unexpected to catch the expected unexpected individual who you are expecting.

Decided not to go with a Sacred Arm, because I'm not sure if one would really fit the character. And... Not entirely sure if the character fits the setting all that well, but we'll see how things turn out.

  • Name: Loren of the Wood's Embrace
  • Age: 110
  • Gender: Female
  • Species/Class: Wood Elf Hero
  • Appearance: "I'm not stupid. If I was, I wouldn't be able to look beyond the ugliness of this world and see how truly beautiful it is."
  • Personality: A free spirited young elf filled with curiousity about the world that lies outside the forest, brimming with youthful energy and exuberance. Her strongest trait, however, is her optimism and her staunch belief that good exists in the hearts of all beings, no matter how deeply buried it may be. However, although she tries to hold this belief in her heart at all times, finding out the state of the outside world has led to a barely noticable doubt in her idealism starting to surface. Loren's greatest desire is for everyone around her to be happy; however, she is somewhat too willing to sacrifice her own happiness for the happiness of others. As a Wood Elf, she has a strong connection to nature, and a love of the forest, flowers, wild animals and all the other wonders of the natural world. Despite what some would see as blind optimism, Loren isn't stupid by any measure; whilst she can be a bit simple minded and stubborn at times, she is still intelligent, especially when it comes to the natural world and combat. Whilst she is willing to fight for her beliefs, she is far less willing to kill, although she will take a life if she has no other option. She will take no pleasure in the act, and will take issue with those who do.
  • Skills: Not only are her physical capabilities in top shape, but Loren is a practitioner of an elven martial art known as "Cadaith Lathain", which combines swift, flowing movements with magic meant to enhance the physical capabilties of the user. Whilst this is the only magic she really knows, it is powerful enough to completely dispel any preconceptions of elves being "frail"; with a single punch she can split boulders in half, and she can run as swift as a horse. On the less combat-orientated side, having grown up in the forest Loren is able to identify most plants and animals that dwell within. Not only that, but woodland animals are generally calmed by her presence, and all but the most ferocious will gladly aid her to the best of their ability.
  • Assets: Wood Elves are not known as materialists, and thus Loren does not have many possessions. Aside from the clothes on her back, she carries a weapon she calls "Quyl-Isha", a cross between a thrusting dagger and a wrist-mounted shortbow that can act as both.
  • Bio: A Wood Elf from an isolated forest community who, due to being cut off from the outside world, were generally unaware of the coming of the Dark Lord. Whilst they had heard rumours of something going on outside their forest, they generally agreed that it was Outsider business that did not concern them, and them continued to lead their peaceful lives uncaring of how things were for the Outsiders. Loren, however, had always been struck with what was seen as an unnatural curiousity for the outside world, and one night when her curiousity had reached its peak she left the forest, hoping to find out more about what lay outside her home. Unable to go back due to breaking the laws of the forest simply by stepping outside, she continued heedlessly on, expecting to be enamoured by everything she came across. However... The more time she spent outside, the more she began to saw of what the Dark Lord had done to the world. Whilst initially horrified, she quickly came to the conclusion that no matter what, the world still had to be a beautiful place, even if there were people like this in it. Even more, she decided that the Dark Lord himself must have a good side, and that there must be a reasonable explanation for all the destruction he has caused. And thus, the young elf set out on her quest to find an answer for the state of the world straight from the source, the Dark Lord himself.
