Psyco: In an in-RP singles Trainer battle that'd be cheating, but for this test sure why not.

Psyco's Test

-The Emboar is hit hard by the Shadow Ball and seems to vanish in a cloud of dust, only to pop out of a nearby patch of grass and attempt to hit Haunter with a Fire Punch-

Emboar: <MY TACTICS ARE TOO SUBTLE FOR YOU>

Haunter turns around, Emboar's yelling having alerted him, and he dodges the Fire Punch.

Haunter: "And our tactics are too confusing for you!"

Landon throws a Poké Ball, and a Shiny Aerodactyl comes out.

Landon: "Aeryl! Use Giga Impact!"

Aeryl flies high into the air before rushing down to the ground, where he turns to fly over it at great speed, headed right for Emboar. Haunter doesn't attack, out of fear of hitting Aeryl instead.

Bacon: They do, yeah. Enough for some of them to become important characters in their own right.

And honestly, though you don't need to, it could be helpful. Though if you want to get caught up, just the last 10, 25, 50 pages or so would probably be good to get you some sort of understanding. (I think I read the last fifty when I joined after failing at an Archive Binge.)

If not, don't worry, I don't think most people do and we could probably get you caught up in the chat or something.

And how do most players have their pokemon?

Did they catch them or were they given to them or do the pokemon want to join the party?

So are we only allowed six pokemon?

I mean, I assume we're only allowed six pokemon at first, but what about later on?

And can the pokemon learn more than four moves? I always thought that was a rather odd limit.

At least one of your questions can be answered by reading the OP.

@ Bacon: You can get more than six mons once you join, yes.

And Pokemon can learn as many moves in their in-game movepools as they like. They're just limited to using four at a time in "official" battles.

Sorry, I'm kind of out of it today, so I'm sorry I keep asking dumb questions.

@Bacon: You're totally fine! We like it when newbies ask questions instead of assuming, it helps them adjust better.

I have two characters I'm willing to use, but one of them has a secret I'm not sure is acceptable by the rp canon. Is there someone whom I can pm about that? I read the essay, and I know there are similar types of characters but I want to be sure...

You could PM Umbra or me. Or both. Or some other player who's been here long enough.

Alright this is my character signup sheet. I'm trying to base my character off of myself and how I would react if I was actually in the WAAPT Universe. Sly Sharpedo and Contemplative Camerupt

Name: Fletcha

Age: 18-19

Gender: Male

Ethnicity: Caucasian

Brief description of his/her appearance: Tall (6'3"), lean, and lanky. Average length blonde hair, definitely not muscular and/or strong. Likes wearing t-shirts, shorts, and sneakers, but will change into other casual clothes depending on the temperature. Has a backpack in which he keeps all of his items and pokeballs. He has a smartphone (I guess in-universe version of an iPhone) with which he occasionally uses to surf the web, play games, or use as a psudeo-pokedex (maybe there's a pokedex app or something). Here's a depiction with of what Fletcha looks like◊

Ties to any organizations: None

Personality: Fletcha is friendly, has a good sense of humor, likes to crack jokes, and tries to see the best in people/pokemon. He is also fairly introverted, can sometimes be a bit lacking in self confidence,and be a bit socially awkward around strangers. In part because of this he is mostly un-confrontational and has a habit of apologizing for trivial mistakes. However, he is much more outgoing and confident among close friends He is more of a follower than a leader, except with things he is passionate about. He generally tries to talk things out before battling in dangerous, but isn't afraid to defend himself and/or his friends once a battle starts. Can be a bit naive at times. In arguments he tries to state his viewpoint, but he respects other people/pokemon's points of view. Also has somewhat of a hard time explaining things quickly. He can be very competitive, and during battles he tries to think and act strategically most of the time, but he occasionally tries to be spontaneous and unpredictable. A little bit afraid of heights. (I know this is way too long but whatever)

Region of origin: Hoenn, lived with his parents in Oldale Town before setting off on his journey.

Backstory: Both of Fletcha's parents are pokemon trainers who already went on their own journeys when they were Fletcha's age, but have since settled down and have average jobs. They have taught Fletcha what they know about being a pokemon trainer and battes while he was growing up, so that he would be well prepared when he starts his own journey Also, They each acquired a fair amount of pokemon on their respective journeys, which in turn means that Fletcha has had a lot of exposure to pokemon while growing up. Fletcha has a few close friends as he has grown up, but otherwise isn't that social. Fletcha himself has recently begun his journey to collect badges, and looks forward to the upcoming adventures that his journey will bring. His parents as trainers both were able to get as far as facing the elite 4.

Species: Torkoal

Nickname: George

Gender: Male

Ability: White Smoke

Egg Moves: Yawn and Clear Smog

Personality/Bio: Torkoal was originally caught by Fletcha's father when he was on his journey. As such, Torkoal and Fletcha have known each other for a long time. Torkoal has a longing for adventure and decided that coming along with Fletcha would be much more fun and fulfilling than just hanging out at home (To clarify, Torkoal is officially Fletcha's pokemon now). Torkoal also tries to look out for Fletcha whenever he can. While Torkoal is an older mon and past his prime, he has a lot of experience under his shell knows quite a few moves. He is also a physical tank. As for personality, Torkoal isn't afraid of much and has Nerves of Steel (Partly due to the white smoke ability, since stuff like intimidate doesn't work on him). Act's as the Team Dad, and rarely acts like a Grumpy Old Man when upset. Occasionally imparts advice and anecdotes from when he was with Fletcha's dad, which may or may not be interesting and/or helpful. Likes to taunt (not the move, with words) the opposition during a battle.

Species: Goomy (Starter)

Nickname: Brandon

Gender: Male

Ability: Sap Sipper

Personality/Bio: Met Fletcha the summer before Fletcha started his journey when he and his family were vacationing in Kalos. Met Fletcha and became good friends with him, and was caught by his parents at the time to become Fletcha's starter Pokemon when he started his journey (How this happened is not explained and might be a future plot point whenever we go back to Kalos... AKA: I haven't thought of it yet) His personality is similar to Fletcha's, but he is definitely more outgoing headstrong than Fletcha.

Posting my sheet for posterity.

• Your Trainer's Name: Camryn Yarrow.
• Age: 17.
• Gender: Female.
• Ethnicity: Pacific Islander.
• Brief description of his/her appearance: Tall (around 5' 10"), with tanned skin and black hair to her mid-back, usually kept in a simple ponytail. She generally wears jeans and various t-shirts. There is a small but noticeable slant to her eyes as a result of her ancestry. She also wears glasses.
• Any ties to an organization: Her dad is the former Dewford Gym Leader, and she befriended Brawly, so that's something. Otherwise, none.
• Region of origin: Hoenn.
• Backstory: Camryn was born in Dewford Town to the then-Gym Leader and his wife (her dad retired when she was about 6, leaving the position open for Brawly), and lived a generally happy life, exploring Granite Cave and Dewford Island's small forest, playing with other children, and basically having a grand old time. None of that really changed when she grew older, though she took to reading books and playing video games after exploring the forest and Granite Cave thoroughly, and because none of it changed, Camryn began to grow massively, incurably bored. Sure, Dewford was nice, her life was nice, and her parents were awesome, but good God, did it get boring. To that end, she and her Pokemon set out on a journey. With her parent's permission, of course. She's been on her journey for a few years, and in lieu of a regular starter, uses her first Pokemon, a Sableye she caught in Granite Cave. Camryn's attitude to most anything she hasn't seen before is "OHMYGOD THAT'S SO COOOOOOL~".

• Nickname: Taonga.
• Gender: Male.
• Ability: Prankster.
• Personality/Bio: Taonga was Camryn's first Pokemon, and as such, is her best friend while out on the road, though she's been with all of her Pokemon for a while. He's pretty much incapable of taking anything seriously, so if he stops smiling or cracking jokes, you know something's gone horribly wrong. He also has Sucker Punch as an Egg Move and Toxic as a TM move.

• Species: Lairon.
• Nickname: Tīra. (Pronounced with a short i, as in the word it)
• Gender: Female.
• Ability: Heavy Metal.
• Personality/Bio: Tīra was found as an Aron by Camryn when she decided to climb to the top of the small mountain that Granite Cave's entrance is in the base of. When Camryn reached the top, Tīra was already sitting there, and after the two started talking, they became friends. Tīra has always liked heights, which is a strange juxtaposition with her typing and ability. In fact, it's because of her type and ability. Her biggest dream is to fly, even though she likely never will. She's the most level-headed of the group. She also knows Heavy Slam, which is unusual for a Lairon of her level.

• Species: Jumpluff.
• Nickname: Uri.
• Gender: Male.
• Ability: Leaf Guard.
• Personality/Bio: Camryn met Uri as a Hoppip when she was exploring the forest. She had found a small clearing that opened out to the ocean when Uri blew in and narrowly missed her head. Uri is kind of like the baby of the group, always being doted on by the others. He is also hyperactive and loves seeing new things, which is part of why him and Camryn are friends. If either of them notice something new, you can count on them to squee over it together.

Just one thing, since Brawly's been active at least since 2004 in this universe, she would've been at the oldest 5 or 6 when he became Gym Leader.
