Ah; the hell with it—I'll give it a try.

  • Name: Jon Keisari.
  • Age: 20.
  • Gender: Male.
  • Ethnicity: Half-Arab, half-Caucasian White.
  • Appearance: Jon stands at 5'10", weighing in at 155 pounds. He has black hair, ruddy dark brown irises, pallid skin, and a decent physique. His upper body is especially well-built. Most of the time, his face, legs, and arms are inundated in scabs and scars. His face often carries a faint red tint/discoloration that turns redder the more frustration/distress he feels. He has a widow's peak, well-trimmed (above-forehead) hair, a disfigured nose (with a dent in the flesh in front of his left nostril that shows up whenever he flexes it), and bright red lips. He usually dons gray, black, and plain white t-shirts, khakis, and silver running shoes. He also carries around a red backpack, in which he keeps his team's Poké Balls and any other items he deems worth carrying.
  • Ties: Jon used to be a member of Team Plasma. He fled after N's desertion.
  • Region of Origin: Unova.
  • Background: Jon was born and raised in Aspertia. He had a few siblings, but never cared to share his history with them. His family (his father in particular) always claimed to value him and his well-being, though he knew better. He knew he didn't have any right to criticize them, considering the expenses he'd cost, but he judged them (and everyone) anyways. At the age of 1, one of his family members—an older brother—kicked him out of his bed while making room for himself. Whether because of this or the subsequent fall—or both—his back muscles were permanently misshapen from that day forth. His brother, as the firstborn of the offspring, received the greatest affection—and the most material resources—of all of them. Naturally, he spent his childhood seething in rage, despair, and envy. His envy was subtle, considering how his parents always advised against it, but it was there. He saw most Pokémon in a similar situation to his own. He used to hate others for the injustices they'd wreak, but, after finding himself guilty of committing similar misdeeds (either for social approval or out of cowardice), he arrived at the conclusion that no one should have to suffer, whether they deserve it or not—although he himself should be willing to suffer. He was always interested in others' motives—and finding out how to twist them against reality until they were broken and useless. He learned to capitalize on the recklessness of the greedy and the overconfidence of the proud. His father frequently punished and berated him for any defiance he thought he perceived. He felt death seeker tendencies and perhaps-inordinate guilt for having been what he considered a problem child; he'd always prefer—when his family members wronged each other (and him)—to ruin everything, rather than let the culprit(s) go unpunished. He eagerly fled from home when Team Plasma began their movement—and quickly proved himself a useful asset. He went back home when he found out that Ghetsis had been manipulating N from the start in the hopes of becoming an autocrat—only to find that his parents had gotten divorced. Although his abusive brother had already moved out a few years prior, he took a reconciliatory approach every time they encountered each other since then (as if to try to make up for his dismal childhood—but not contrite; he never considered that he was usually the one who gave him reason to be envious and dissatisfied—often deliberately, at that).
  • Team:
    • Species: Eevee
      • Name: Eve
      • Gender: Female
      • Ability: Anticipation
      • Bio: Eve used to wander the forest around Jon's house. She was a random, wild Eevee until Jon started interacting with her. He began by leaving scrambled eggs from his breakfast on the edge of his family's driveway to give her a quick and easy meal. He eventually adopted her—and gave her the nickname "Eve" (primarily because it was quicker). He never made up his mind on which Eeveelution he wanted her to become, and, thus, tied an Everstone to her right foreleg. He still calls her "Eevee" from time to time (whenever he's concerned about her safety)—but never Grinning Golem or Fabulous Furfrou.
    • Species: Blaziken
      • Name: Torch
      • Gender: Male
      • Ability: Speed Boost
      • Bio: Torch was Jon's first Pokémon. His father gave him Torch after a trip to a faraway region. Jon—and his entire team—counted on him when no one else could finish the job for them—he was the team's crutch member.
    • Species: Bisharp
      • Name: Sharpie
      • Gender: Female
      • Ability: Defiant
      • Bio: Jon caught Sharpie on Route 9 shortly before joining Team Plasma, and started training her shortly thereafter. She evolved by the time N was deposed as Unova's Champion—which is a testament to her and her Trainer's selflessness and dedication.
    • Species: Froakie
      • Name: Frost
      • Gender: Male
      • Ability: Protean
      • Bio: Frost is one of two Pokémon Jon's brother bred for him in Kalos. Having just been hatched recently, Frost shies away from fighting difficult opponents. That said, he has no shortage of potential or battle prowess—as proven when Jon had him train against Emolga and Swoobat. He immediately impressed Jon with his knowledge of Ice Beam the day his Trainer received him (which, naturally, earned him his name).
    • Species: Honedge
      • Name: Telemachus
      • Gender: Male
      • Ability: No Guard
      • Bio: Telemachus is a Shiny Honedge, and one of two Pokémon Jon's brother bred for him in Kalos. He's easily the most quiet of the bunch. He is, however, a firm believer in his Trainer's ideals, and always tries to prove his conviction and sympathy by fighting with maximum effort.

In a way, yes. They adjust to the trainer's skill level, not necessarily connected to how many badges they have but often times that just so happens to be the case anyway, and it is an easy indicator of a trainer's abilities.

Also, we just call them "gym leaders" :P

I got a Furfrou of the Fabulous type and a Golem of the Grinning type

  • Name : Nathan
Time zone : Paris or CEST
  • Age :Young man (16)
  • Gender : Male
  • Ethnicity : White
  • Appearance : A young man approaching 1m80 and 65 kg with brown long hair that fall to the neck, no beard and greenish eyes. He has a rather slender face with a particularly prominent nose with what appears to be a relatively minor burn-scar. He is generally rather slender and does not appear to be very muscular. He does have a lot of body hair at all the places you expect to find some. He generally wears a polo or a parka depending if the weather is sunny or not. He loves to wear white.
  • Ties : His mom is capable of baking delicious cookies.
  • Region of origin : Sinnoh, Snowpoint City
  • Backstory : He is a young trainer who was born in Snowpoint and has loving parents and no sibling He used to play a lot at Lake Acuity where he met the Snorunt which would become his second Mon years later. His dream began to be achieved when he started his adventure by getting his starter Shinx. It was given by a passing trainer when he was 14. He then met for a second time his second Pokemon Snorunt at Lake Acuity when he went to play there for a last time, meeting in which he got the little scar he has now on his nose. With those Pokemons and a Swinub caught near the lake, he then challenged the Gym leader of Snowpoint and won his first Badge. He then proceeded to go to Eterna city where he got a Bidoof and then managed to get his second Badge he is now going where the plot ask him to. His goal is to beat the Sinnoh League and travel to see the whole region.
  • He possesses 4 Pokemons at the actual time:
    • His Starter's a Luxio evolved from his Shinx
      Nickname : Asgeir
      Gender : Male
      Ability : Rivalery
Bio: The Starter of Nathan which was given to him by a passing trainer. He is rather wild and very territorial when it come to his "possessions" (which are limited to his team and trainer but that's another story) consider himself the leader of the Team and try (albeit very unsuccessfully) to be the one giving the orders (the task is arduous because his trainer can't really comprehend him and a certain Snorunt refuse categorically to obey him) Also he learned Magnet rise from the tutor guy in Snowpoint.
    • Species : Snorunt
      Nickname : Angeline
      Gender : Female
      Ability : Ice Body
Bio : A little Snorunt who learned how to launch Hail a bit too early and got cocky because of it. So when Snorunt first tried it out, a certain human trainer-wannabe got stuck in it and suffered some sever frost-bite to the nose leaving him with a little scar. Since them Snorunt try to help him and at the same time still stay convinced that he is some "special Snorunt while all he did was to find a lost Hail TM on the ground and managed to use it. Thinks he has some great destiny and will surpass the gods one day.
    • Species : Swinub
      Nickname Ingvar
      Gender : Male
      Ability : Snow Cloak
Bio : He is literally Arceus personified and can and will destroy the universe if you anger him. Or so he say. Ingvar is, well, a compulsory liar who is afraid of telling the truth over his origins. He will never tell the same story twice tho as he knows no one believe him but at least he can put his past far behind him and go to the future with his mind calm. Or so he said to Angeline an other day while looking more thrust-full than at ordinary.Apart from that he is a relativly cheerfull Pokemon who really like to mess around.
    • Species : Bibarel
      Nicknam : James
      Gender : Male
      Ability : Unaware
Bio : James is an outgoing and cheerful guy, he like to crack jokes and care for his team and friends . He is the youngest member of the team and is not fully mature. He will still do all he can to be liked and to be helpful. With him around problems and dispute are generally quickly solved. He is a pillar member of the team, always stopping the three others when they fight .

Warmy: Same on your end, though, You've got a few grammar issues. One I want to be sure on...

So when he first tried it out, a certain human trainer-wannabe got stuck in it and suffered some sever frost-bite to the nose leaving him scared.

Is the 'he' referring to the Snorunt? Is sever supposed to be severe? And is that scared or scarred?

warmy

Aside from the grammar stuff Crow mentioned, you look good.

Truly Deceptive

Three things;

  • Your Trainer's backstory comes off as rather melodramatic and his motivations tough to glean - could you clean that up a little? That said, we could use some more ex-Plasma representation, so feel free to leave that in.

  • Could you go into a bit more detail on your mon's personalities?

  • The Honedge's unusual coloing seems out of the blue - it might make more sense for it to just be Shiny.

The Silence That Speaks Volumes
#3145: Oct 24th 2016 at 6:47:37 PM

  • Well, now, he wanders the earth in pursuit of power, but I was going to get to that in media res during the RP. After the dissolution of Team Plasma, he decided to scour any region inhabited by powerful Pokémon that he could find in the hopes of reshaping the world as he deems fit. Pokémon—and Trainers—grow stronger through conflict—as he learned both before and while he was under N's command; to this end, he travels to regions where he hears of emergences of conflict. He doesn't even try to justify his life (he never had the right to)—but he refuses to let the self-serving and unjust triumph. Thus, he resolved to acquire more power until, someday, he's the winning side (of everything life has to offer). To sum it up, he is reclusive and Machiavellian and does want to change the world (which, where he comes from, he only knows how to accomplish by tearing everything apart and ruining any reason people might have to be "civil"), but, fundamentally, he does desire others' well-being. He's destructive and difficult to relate to, but at least he gives a damn.
  • Okay...
    • Eve: A young, adorable kitten with the capacity to evolve into something greater. I'm pretty sure I elaborated on her history well enough. Naturally, she's childish and has to be cared for (but Jon also has to ensure he doesn't exhibit any favoritism).
    • Torch: A strong-willed masochist who loves proving he can endure more anguish than anyone else. He believes in self-sacrifice, whether for vengeance or the sake of the innocent. He puts up with fighting on Jon's behalf for much the same reason Jon joined Team Plasma (and seeks power currently).
    • Sharpie: An unfettered Action Girl. She also believes that there's a difference between the way things are and the way things should be. She shares her combat stratagems, wisdom, and knowledge with the rest of the team in the hopes that they might become unbeatable and judge and dominate everything. She also hopes Jon'll close the gap between her and Torch (preferably someday soon).
    • Frost: A fresh new 'mon that was given to Jon. There isn't much to write about him (or Telemachus—yet). He's shy, ashamed of how weak he is compared to everyone else (even though he hasn't gotten much of an opportunity to train yet—unlike the 'mons that fought beside Jon and whatever other Pokémon Team Plasma stole and put under his charge). He blames himself for anything that goes awry in Trainer battles that he can even remotely consider his fault.
    • Telemachus: He ardently believes that actions speak louder than words. Eager to prove his worth (and willpower). He's a bit arrogant, but he will try to fix his Tragic Flaw—as soon as he finds out about it. He doesn't notify Jon of any problem (he figures) he can deal with unless it just isn't worth the risk. He'll later personify the adage "beware the fury of a patient man."
  • It is; I didn't know how better to explain that in the signup (since I didn't know whether or not it'd fit in the bio, and, since that's where it was, I figured I ought to give it a description that'd make sense in-universe).

The truth can oft be more misleading... I'm driven by greed, guilt, rage, and despair, but I'll never try to justify haughtiness.

  • OK, I think that clears the motivations up, but it seems you're still trying to cram too much suffering in one go into his backstory, so that can likely be trimmed down to the vitals of what made his life hell. If you wanna re-fuck things up for your character a little, the RP's darker moments and his motivations will provide ample opportunity, but still be wary of Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy.

  • Nice work on extended mon personalities, those are good to go by me.

  • What is the explanation, anyway? Remember at this stage we want as much as possible to be up front.

From what I can glean, the backstory can be summed up laconically as "dad and brother were utter pricks, Jon became cold and nihilistic because of the toxic effect their abuse had on his psyche"note . It only looks like there's oodles of overexaggerated suffering due to a mild case of Purple Prose.

(And yeah, out-and-out saying Telmachus is Shiny would be the better option. Shiny's an in-universe term anyway. :P)
