Yarn Yoshi is most likely to be a Yoshi game, rather than a Yoshi's Island game. This may make the next YI game take a while to be developed, but rest assured that we will eventually get Yoshi's Island 3/Yoshi's Island U.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI'm sure we'll get one eventually.
Yoshi's Island DS is a good example of what to try and do, just not one that was pulled off that well. It's an adequate game nonetheless.
I think, to help avoid recycling the "lol Browser gets bigger" final boss, they should make Kamek step up more as the Big Bad. Recent games have shown he's more than capable of fighting on his own even in what I presume is old age (Wizards Live Longer?), and we've never really gotten to see him use magic on himself, either for size enhancement or just some sorta super form.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! He makes himself giant in Super Princess Peach.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Ah.
You know what would be a funny boss? Have the usual pipe maze with the expected Piranha Plant boss at the end, then instead of the Piranha Plant becoming supersized, the pipe it's living in becomes giant and sapient.
And you could damage it by getting on top and "using" it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMYeah, like that, but more mobile (Angled pipes for legs?) and without all those Piranha Plant-themed attacks.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! My God, that's brilliant.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. That's where I got the general idea from, yeah, but I want to see them take that idea and expand on it.
Incidentally, Toad Strikes Back is a really good fangame, though that's a little off-topic aside from the bosses being Kamek-enhanced enemies. I recommend playing it, if you liked that video.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! That video did intrigue me. Is it a romhack or a separate game with its own engine and everything?
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. The latter.
It's entirely made from scratch. Most of the sprites are even from scratch, though the maker also did use several imported sprites or tilesets.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Neat. Maybe PM me a link to it if you have it on hand, and I'll definitely check it out when I have time.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I'll just post it here real quick, it's not like there's much else being discussed here.
Though to ask a question, what was your favorite boss from the original Yoshi's Island? And if you played it, from YI DS? Mine are Navel Piranha and Moltz the Very Goonie, respectively.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Honestly, I'd have to go with Prince Froggy due to just how completely unexpected that fight's twist is. Roger the Potted Ghost is another one I found interesting, if not executed as well as it could've been, but still nice. (I really like unconventional boss fights.)
As for the DS game...honestly, I played a little bit of it, but I don't quite remember what I played from it. I do know that I didn't like it as much as the original, but, like I said, I didn't play it very far. I should go back to it someday when I've got the time, but for now, I dunno. I hear really mixed things about its later levels, especially about the difficulty ramping up to insane, unreasonable levels at some points.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Raphael is also fun. Navel Piranha is also a favorite. But my all time favorite has to be the final boss. That is a fun battle. DS didn't have too many fun fights. Moltz was like the only really enjoyable fight.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Yeah, Moltz was about it. Big Guy the Stilted was fun too though. The final boss was just lame.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I really enjoyed Roger the Potted Ghost's boss fight, as well as Raphael's and Tap-Tap's.
Eh.I haven't played Yoshis Island properly for a while, and it was at my cousin's, so I've only properly cleared the first world.
Favourite Boss in DS? I never really thought about it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMRaphael I've never really been as into as most people. It's not bad, and it's very creative, yeah, but if you're not fast enough or accurate enough, that fight can draaaaaaag. This run of the fight by Josh Jepson pretty much demonstrates my main problem with it (though, granted, I do think he's a bit harsh on it).
As for the final boss, I would've mentioned that one too, though I mostly just like the first phase of it. The second phase is pretty awesome (and has awesome music to boot), but the aiming is so wonky and hard to align that there seems to be an unnecessary learning curve for it.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Slightly off-topic, but what does it mean on his page how he played it "Blind"?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMIt means he plays it without using guides or asking for help.
Or attempted to.
Also, hi.
I would love to see a sequel to YI and Story, personally.(as in one each)
A blind playthrough means they never played that game before, they're going through the game for the first time.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more! This exactly.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Oh, so what I do all the time.
Island did get a sequel. Heck, Yoshi's Island DS was originally called Yoshi's Island 2.◊

Should be an interesting game. Was personally hoping for one more like Yoshi's Island, like how we got DKCR, but this could be neat as a little diversion. And if it's sufficiently popular it could finally respark interest in the series as a whole, too.
I just hope it isn't pathetically easy. The Kirby series may be an easy enough series to warrant an uber-easy yarn game, but Yoshi games are often deceptively difficult. The Island series, anyway, not so much Story.
