I discussed this issue with some posters from another forum and it really just boils down to the Chairman turning Honor Before Reason Up To Eleven; he is so engrossed with keeping the system and its ideals intact that it boils down to it being a false dichotomy with how to treat Takebayashi. Either he keeps Takebayashi in class A (laughably stupid) or he sends the guy back to Class E as "punsihment"(which is what Takebayashi wanted of course but I don't think the Chairman ever knows for the life of himself why people would want to that).

Expelling him would be admitting to some flaws in the system (as if sending him back to Class E didn't seem like sufficient punsihment; I don't think the rest of the school is aware of Koro-Sensei?) and given how we've seen him trying to desperately preserve the status quo, expelling would thus be the last thing the Chairman would want to do.

Of course, I could be missing something else here.

I think you're right about that, Asano is being an idiot, but I don't want people to think of that as bad writing. There's a reason for his idiocy. He's The Sociopath. He doesn't care about the good of the world, or the good of the students. All he cares about his his system, his sovereignty, his glory. Kunugigaoka is his domain, and he won't let anyone usurp it. All that stuff about rationality and order is just an excuse. Also, people say that he's endangering the world by possibly hurting class E's morale or interfering with their work. Well, one of the traits of sociopathy is that you can't properly understand the consequences of your actions. Asano is a high-function sociopath, but it just doesn't register to him that the world might end, and he might be partially responsible for it. So there's that too.

Chapter 81 is out.

Jesus, Karasuma, can you at least pretend to be human? And huh, I really find myself wanting him and Irina to get together. Nice chapter, overall. The action is good, as always.

This looks like an excellent opportunity to assassinate Korosensei since he's confined to that little circle on the ground. He could probably still dodge all the "prisoners" despite these conditions, but it's worth a shot.

The training looks more like parkour than freerunning, but I think both are similar enough that either term could be used.

[up][up] Karasuma could have a harem by the end of this. He's dense enough.

Even with just a minute, Can't Koro still just search the entire mountain? And find pretty much anyone by smell? Hardly seems fair.

Hmm, chapter 82 is out in Spanish.

Korocop is way too corrupt and easily led astray evil grin. The trick the kids pulled to avoid getting tagged by him and Karasuma was pretty good, too.

Out in English as well! [up][up] Not an issue, thanks to Korosensei's weaknesses and some very clever planning on Class E's part. I wonder who came up with that plan?

Korocop turns out to be the worst cop ever.

I translated most of the extras from volume 6, covering the pool arc and the beginning of the first term finals (c44-52). It seemed like there was less of it than in previous volumes. I didn't do the SCRAP puzzle, because I want to keep those to myself until I solve them. Here's the full text, with descriptions of some of the accompanying images.

http://pastebin.com/L8CP4LwR

Some highlights: The names of those two guys from the main school who show up now and then have been revealed. The pimply one is named Tanaka Nobuta (田中 信太), and the one with a face like a flattened horse is Takada Chousuke (高田 長助). I don't know what connection they have to the 47 ronin, if any. More jokes about Isogai's hair. The only thing they could come up with to describe Kayano is that she named Koro-sensei, and she sits next to Nagisa. And, the mangaka is apparently perfectly aware of how it came across when Terasaka declared Karma his puppetmaster.

Nice! Thanks for the translations. I wouldn't mind some Isogai hair jokes in the story proper...

I'm tempted to scour the internet for the corresponding raws, but I don't want to risk running into spoilers from the latest untranslated chapters.

What is that SCRAP puzzle anyways? All I know about SCRAP is that they're a company that hosts real life escape games.

[up] I think it also might have been intended to make the students dislike Koro a bit so they wouldn't help him like they did before. It does seem like Shiro is the only guy seriously trying however.

I liked Karma's reaction.

I was going to try to bring out the first two SCRAP puzzles together, but uh... While the first one is really easy, the rest are a LOT more difficult. The second involves a goddamn crossword puzzle. That's going to take a little thought. So, here's the first one. Shouldn't take more than a couple minutes to solve. All you need is a raw of the class seating chart, which can be found in chapter 24 at any site that uploads the raws for Assassination Classroom.

Please spoiler tag your answers.

1. Tragedy Begins
At 5:30 pm when everyone had left school, I wanted to finish an assignment, so I stayed behind.
Koro-sensei was in Greece eating Mediterranean cuisine around now.
I turned in the assignment to the desk in the staff room and prepared to go home.
At the shoe rack, there was a sign that someone was there.
It was a soundless voice, one phrase, like a whisper. I was startled, but when I looked to check in a fluster, the owner of the voice was no longer there.
What shocked me was what that phrase consisted of. The owner of the voice undoubtedly said, “(I’ll) kill that guy.”
Then early the next morning… One student was discovered in a horrific state.
Based on the report that Nagisa gave, let’s try to deduce the victim and the first discoverer!
The correct answer will be published in the next volume!!

1: The victim is male, the first discoverer is female.
2: The victim sits further to the left than the first discoverer.
3: The victim sits further to the front than the first discoverer.
4: The victim and the first discoverer both have four kanji in their names.
5: Counting from the front, the first discoverer sits in an odd-numbered row.

I think Maehara was the victim and Hayami discovered him first.

So Nagisa's the Super Middle School Level Assassin/Detective now? Sounds epic.

Chapter 85: I thought that anti-sensei smoke bombs would be really effective, but apparently they're just slightly better than anti-sensei henna tattoos. What is that stuff even made of? Moon rocks?

I think these kids have another one of those plans up their sleeves. My favorite chapters of the manga tend to be the ones where the members of Class-E use their different talents to carry out insane, hilarious, and epic schemes (the laxative prank, the beach assassination, and the battle against Guns are Delicious are a few that come to mind).

Okay, so here's the next part of the SCRAP puzzle, from volume 6. The text gives away the answer from the previous one, so I've spoiler tagged the names. Originally, this was a crossword puzzle where you had to unscramble certain squares to find a hint that led to the answer in another extra. In order to make this puzzle solvable without having the volumes in your hand, and also without knowledge of Japanese, I changed it into a quiz of sorts. You may have to utilize your google fu to find some of the answers, though. I don't expect this one to be solved anywhere near as easily as the last one. Also, if you want to spread this around to other forums, please feel free to do so.

Hitman Detective Nagisa

2. The Early-Morning Assailant

Maehara-kun was unconscious on the path in front of class E's building.

I took his pulse straight away. Thankfully, his life was not in danger.

Hayami-san told me, “He was already like this when I arrived at school... For someone with reflexes like his, I don't think he could have fallen or fainted.”

There were no obvious external wounds either, nor any objects he could have tripped over.

In other words, someone snuck up behind him and struck him with a blunt object...?

I immediately remembered that suspicious person from the shoe rack.

That person definitely said “kill.”

If this was done by someone trained in class E, surely that killing intent was serious...

In which case, next time they'll kill for sure.

I'll start to investigate this to the best of my abilities.

First I'll have to inspect the crime scene, particularly for any dangerous weapons.

This quiz alone won't reveal the weapon! It will direct you to the scrambled letters that spell out the thing Nagisa is looking for! The answers will be in volumes 1-6, that is chapters 1-52, as well as some that come from the English-translated tankobon extras! Find them all, and they will lead you to the answer as easily as 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3! But just as a hint, ignore spaces and punctuation in your search! Questions in quote marks are references to specific lines in the Utopia translation, though they may be paraphrased! Some are given additional hints in parentheses having to do with the letters you need to find!

The answer: ?????? ??? (6 letters, 3 letters)

1. Initial number of students in class E.

2. Chapter 8 is _____ Time. (Euphemism)

4. He is surprisingly quick to panic.

5. Nagisa's best subject. (First paragraph)

6. Number of students weak in math.

7. “If they were not locals, and, moreover were wearing school uniforms, turn to page 12__.”

8. Air guitar boy. (Line)

9. He can only draw simple pictures.

10. “Irina Jelavic-sensei has a proven track record of _____ jobs in countries all over the world.”

11. Ranked 2nd overall on the midterm exams. (Line)

12. Kimura's place in the batting order during the baseball game.

13. Class E and class A make a bet on the outcome of the _____ exams.

18. Chapter of the first of May. (In panel)

19. Koro-sensei made _____ tenths of the moon disappear.

20. Sakikibara Ren has won fine arts competitions with his _____. (On top)

21. Number of points Maehara has for knife hits at the end of June.

22. Number of points Kataoka missed on the midterm exams. (Minus 100)

23. Karma imagined his former teacher turning into a _____. (Page)

24. Sugino's roll call number.

26. “The span between drawing your gun and firing is much too slow. I had time to spare, so I gave you some _____.” (Panel)

27. The tiger on the girls' basketball team is number ____.

Major hints: Each set of three questions on the quiz points to one of the letters you need to find, and the first, second, and third questions in each set always have the same purpose. The third question in each set will tell you how many letters to count to find the letter you're looking for.

Quiz answers: 1. 25, 2. Breast, 3. 3, 4. 2, 5. English, 6. 8, 7. 44, 8. Mimura, 9. 20, 10. 11, 11. Araki, 12. First, 13. Term final, 14. End, 15. 6, 16. 28, 17. Secret, 18. 8, 19. 7, 20. Poetry, 21. 5, 22. 36, 23. Skeleton, 24. 13, 25. Iruma, 26. Nail Art, 27. 4.

This wouldn't happen to be the original crossword puzzle, would it? You could theoretically figure out the answer by only solving the questions with the double squares. Too bad I don't know Japanese...[lol]

Brief comments on this arc up to Chapter 87: I'm really liking how the series consistently manages to maintain a bit of comedy where it's appropriate during the serious developments; special mention goes to the part where the kids tried to make Itona feel better while his life was at risk. Nice to see some character backstory/development for Itona, Terasaka, and his crew.

It it safe to assume that Itona "brotherly" relationship with Korosensei was just a hoax?

They're brothers in the sense that both of them are biological weapons that were human once. Itona was just not changed as much as Koro.

Perhaps Shiro made that up to make Korosensei uncomfortable for the fight? Seems like it was a lie all along. Btw, at the end Itona says something like "I'm sick of this power and our sibling setting" I wonder if that was a 4th wall moment from Matsui.

[up][up][up]That would be it, yes. However, you won't be able to get the answer with just that. There's another two steps in the puzzle after the crossword. And in my puzzle, you will need every answer correct to be able to solve it.

Chapter 88 just came out, and I have a few interesting notes about it. The animal that destroys their tank isn't a weasel. That's not a mistranslation. The students themselves made the mistake. It's actually a Japanese river otter, which looks pretty close to a Japanese weasel. They were declared extinct in 2012. Of course, lots of people claim to have seen them since then. It isn't the first time one of these otters has appeared. There was one on the last page of chapter 56 as well, and the tankobon extras confirm that that is what it was supposed to be. Also, when Shiro is talking about one of the students (obviously but not explicitly Nagisa), describing him as a greater monster than Itona, he uses the word "kaibutsu." The more common term for "monster" would be "bakemono." "Kaibutsu" is a more intense word, more along the lines of "abomination," and up until now that term has only been used to refer to Koro-sensei. Nagisa's somehow built up quite a reputation, hasn't he?

"The unsociable Itona-kun is fitting in with the rest of the class. There was no need to worry. Perversion, Assassination, and Craftsmanship. He took a firm hold of the guys' tastes and drew a crowd." evil grin

It was pretty funny to see everyone united for the sake of perversion.

What Shiro said makes me think that between him, Shinigami and the principal, we won't be lacking for interesting developments as far as conflicts goes.
