Interest in an Urban Fantasy RP?

I have a vague idea for an anime-inspired Urban Fantasy RP. Expect the Fantasy Kitchen Sink to be in full use, and I have a partial Masquerade in effect (some creatures are accepted and acknowleged, others are hidden).

The setting would be either an American or Japanese city, possibly a fictional city too.

I'd like to do a character stat system, but I'm not sure about that. I may also do a character class system.

Ditto. I vote American, simply because I am one and am therefore more familiar with the culture but I can work with anything. Isn't a stat system a bit difficult for this type of RPG? Again not trying to control you just offering what I hope is constructive criticism.

Would like to know about the setting, but I'd vote American as well. Being cosmopolitan as it is, it would allow for all sorts of fantasy things rather than Japan might.

I'm going to have to agree here. But only as long as it's still in a major population center. And by a partial masquerade, do you mean humans know magic and are on friendly terms with some magical races while others stay hidden, or do you just mean humans know magic (like the Nasuverse)?

It's been a while since I last joined a similar RP... I was a new troper back then, so I had little to no idea how it played out.

Here's an idea, how about if it is a large sprawling fantastic city? with districts on floating islands and clusters of buildings built upon each other

Why does it even have to be obviously in any country? It just could be The City.

It might even be big enough to be a country all on its own...

A small country at that though... but yeah

EDIT: Ok new ideas, based on my previous concept of course. First about the clusters of buildings, how about if there are three in the city; first there's the Alpha Complex which is designed beautifully as a citadel, this one would be in the center of the city and serves as the main building for the government and part of the military. Then there's the Beta Complex, the iron heart of the industrial sector, a mountain of labs, warehouses and factories. Finally there's the Zero Complex, a mound made of slums, commissioned to alleviate a housing crisis a few decades ago.

The other part is regarding the floating islands. What if there was one, rather small that served as a high-end district for the wealthy and other high-class types. Paradoxically there's another island that is the home of the least accepted races. There's also a prison in that island, giving The City its own Alcatraz.

We could call it Tropetown as a name. I'm interested, and all for just making up a new city altogether. Perhaps one where Tropes are in full swing?

I might choose a darker character I've been itching to reuse somehow here though.

Nothing firm yet. At the moment, they're just ideas. I need to work them out before I say anything concrete.

Anyone else has ideas?
