Gameland

This is Gameland, a sort of hub-world where all games at some point intersect. Every character imaginable comes through here to visit friends, go shopping, celebrate special occasions, and even travel to other games.

Things are peaceful in Gameland as a whole, until suddenly, all players simply vanish. No game is turned on or played for an entire day, something previously unheard of. Panic erupts across multiple multiiverses, and characters and entire game worlds alike begin to vanish. A very few characters manage to make it through their barriers and into Gameland, away from their game which may or may not be there for much longer.

And that's where you come in. To join, you must first choose a video game character to bring to the table, preferably one from a preexisting series or standalone game. Though OC's are allowed, already existent characters are encouraged, and all players wishing to bring in OC's will have to supply ample information about them before they are approved.

For the sake of keeping this RP simple, moving, and alive, there will be a maximum of 20 active players for the time being. This cap is a precaution, and whether or not that many players will even be joining is unknown as of now.

This RP is meant to be extremely freestyle, with a strong focus on individually driven storylines, as well as an intersecting main story that will be weaved into the RP at various times. Most anything goes, but things like combat and extremely difficult actions may have to go through a GM first to determine the outcome.

To join in, simply post the character you wish to join as, as well as the game he/she is from. Linking to their character page, a wiki for their game, or simply giving sufficient information is also appreciated.

If you wish to join as an OC, make sure to post plenty of information, and PM any and all information you wish to be canon, but secret.

And finally, this RP is about having a good time, so above all, make sure you're maintaining an environment where everyone can enjoy the experience just as much as you.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason you made a new thread rather than edit your old one?

Is it okay if my character is from an Expy of Grand Theft Auto?

I'm not sure if it's okay to post based on a video game as a different adaptation though.

So, a character from Team Fortress 2 would be accepted? What if I gave him some personality traits from a fanfiction? It would be a semi-OC.

Name: Twystar

Age: Unknown?

Game: Splore (Spore/SBURB expy)

Appearance: CLICK HERE◊

An alien starship captain from the "massively single player" galaxy of Splore, Twystar is a Gabywr, a race of technologically proficient small fuzzy humanoids. As such, he has some degree of Gadgeteer Genius and Mad Scientist abilities. Twystar cannot natively speak or understand the commonly spoken English or Japanese seen in most games, but that is made up for by a universal translator. (The translator is either non-corporeal due to Gameplay Story Segregation or implanted in his skull, depending on what is more acceptable/interesting/funny/etc.) He has a pair of holo-watches on his wrists which allow him to communicate with "mission control" on his home planet, and a pair of atmospheric filters (connected to a mask tucked away in a slot) to breathe on other worlds.

(The expy part was just because I wanted to introduce some The Sims and Dark Cloud elements, and I figured SBURB did it right once so why not vaguely imitate SBURB. I wouldn't even reference Homestuck in doing so, and I can easily make my character a Spore creation instead of from an expy game if required.)

So, being unable to make up my mind about which of these to submit, I'll leave it up to the GM to decide which would be a better fit.

For a canon character, I could play Kohran from Sakura Taisen.

I also have had a Sakura Taisen OC written up for a while, and this would seem an opportunity to perhaps use her. Here's a quick write-up:

Name: Kirie "Nani" Hato

Age: 18

Game: Sakura Taisen VI: Stronger Than Love

Appearance: Here

Kirie Hato is the token Japanese girl on the newly formed Berlin STAR division, originally working as the theater's gift shop girl. It was later discovered that she had more than sufficient reiryoku (spirit energy) to pilot a mech, and was invited to join the team officially. While being of Japanese origin she was orphaned as an infant and adopted into a Prussian Junker family, though she always felt like a bit of an outsider. Despite developing Improbable Aiming Skills with her oversized pistol, she is much more of an optimistic nice girl bordering on Genki Girl status than her Tokyo counterpart, Maria Tachibana. In a departure from the typical main girls of the series, she bats for both teams and has a secret crush on Ratchet Altair, who was sent to help organize the Berlin unit ahead of the inevitable harem guy (presumably Shinjiro Taiga from the New York STAR Division). Has some impressive acting skills though she's a bit clumsy and an unrepentant tom boy outside of stage roles. Also carries around a Camertron, which somehow is a watch-camera-cell phone combination from a steampunk 1920s setting.

Name: Pvt. Green337

Age: Physically 22 but for reasons explained later mentally identical to a 15 year old at best.

Game: An expy of classic PC Doom named RUIN 3D. Instead of the fps in Wreck it ralph populated by disciplined soldier characters, this is populated by the equivalent of bickering X Box live users, with a dash of youtube comments and 4chan.

Appearance: A minigun wielding man who should be wearing Space Marine armor but was modded into a half done shirtless rambo. Even he admits "this is the f***in' gayz."

Pvt. Green is technically an NPC in one of the most brutal underground PC games ever, technically. Green is built with a cleverbot type speech function which learns off other users and was infamously broken in the first week of play. Having been exposed to the hive of scum and villainy playing him, his speech is broken to the level of Doom: repercussions of evil and has spawned many memes only adding to the problem. He randomly switches between personality types, and resultantly is half troll or a troll half of the time. Other common personalities are little kid, internet tough guy, basement dweller and the occasional meta commenter who remarks how crappy this is.

• Age: 25

• Game: Street Quest: Verona Beach (Expy of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas)

• Appearance: Eddie Montague is a young and thin man in his mid-twenties, with black hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. He wears a blue Hawaiian shirt, a light gray undershirt, black track pants, sunglasses, a platinum dollar chain, and black sneakers. He often carries a Beretta 9mm pistol, a pump-action shotgun, an Uzi, and a katana.

• Personality: Eddie Montague is a dashing criminal and a rogue, known for his comedic sociopathy and his love of parties, fast cars, and wild women. He'll often be cruising around the streets of Verona Beach (an Expy of Los Angeles) in his custom-made 1947 Cadillac Series 62 convertible, either raising hell or picking up chicks. His players tend to be either fans of crime fiction like The Sopranos and The Godfather, or hyperactive fratboys who play too much Playstation Network and Xbox Live.

• History: Eddie Montague was born and raised on the mean streets of Verona Beach and is a battle-hardened Comedic Sociopath as a result. Upon graduating high school, he became caught up in the underworld of Verona Beach, making money as a hitman for hire and freelance pimp, and doing favors for the various gangs and mob bosses of Verona Beach (and the occasional Ambulance and Pizza Delivery side-missions as well). Now he's 25 and one of Verona Beach's most feared freelance gangsters. But with the new chaos and cataclysm, this rogue criminal finds himself in a situation that actually scares him for once. With only his old-school convertible car and a few weapons stashed away in the trunk, he must find his way through Gameland.

Guess that could work, though the equipment in question is somewhat unique to her setting. However it could be that her game was in the final testing stages and so it wasn't available when the great shut-off happened. Or likelier it was just too bulky to try and take with her initially.
