Hello! if you are here you've probably gotten interested by the name, well, keep on reading and I hope I still have your interest! ^_^


Now onto about the setting! The current year is 2576 AD and humanity has spread amongst the stars under the banner of the Sol Republic but we are not alone.

  • The Races: There are lots of intelligent aliens in the galaxy and you are free to come up with your own (just run them with me first!) but the most prominent ones are

    • The Thygaren: A big and tough, strong, long lived with a life span of up to 300 years and carnivourus race the amphibious Thygaren is a powerful spieces and rulers of their own large empire albiet their numbers are limited by a Code of Honour that sends many of their young to seek honour and glory as mercenaries and big game hunters
      • Appearence: They are big, most often reaching up to 2.4 meters tall when fully grown and weighting up to 520 kg
      • Short history: Almost immediately when they had managed to acheive interstellar flight the Thygaren went on a mass exodus from their home planet to colonize the nearby star systems and they continued to grow, destoying or subjugating most other spieces that came in their way, then they met humanity who too was very agressive in their expansion and conflict was inevitable, causing a conflict that lasted for 25 years before other races stepped in and brokered peace, a peace that with the exception of some smaller conflicts of interests have now laster for 90 years.
      • Homeworld: The deathworld of Gulash. Pop: 6,000,000,000 Thygaren + unkown number of other species.
      • Other notes: Thygarens have really powerful jaws and can with ease break bones with their teeth.

    • Aquids: An aquatic spiecies that while they can survive some periods on dry land they feel so much more comfortable in the ocean or with just a helmet filled with water on their head. They are a civilization of traders and have their own small but influential dominion
      • Appearence: like reptiles with 8 limbs, 4 arms, 2 legs and 2 tails that act like fins. Their scales vary widely in colour. they usually stand about 2 meters in lenght excluding the 1,5 meter long tails
      • Short history: The Aquids have had an unassuming story, they are quite new to the galactic scene, only achiveving FTL technology about 60 years ago but they are quickly solidifying their place as an equal to the older species, a large part thanks to their economic and mathematical prowess.
      • Homeworld: The waterworld of Nommon. Pop: 12.000.000.000 Aquids.
    • Other Notes:

    • Silvous: A strange spiecies with shapeshifting abilities that grows smarter the more mass they have. They value information and knowledge above most ther things and reproduce by splitting at the cost of some intelligence and memories that is transferred to their child.
      • Appearence: While a Silvous can make use of almost any form they like that is withing the constraints of their mass (No transforming into a T-rex if you only weights 70 kg!) their true form is that of a silvery pile of slime.
      • Short history: One of the oldest known races the Silvous have been part of galactic civilization for a very long time, according to their records over 800 years. The the Human-Thygaren war erupted the Silvous watched, hoping that it would just end soon but when it was clear that it would not they stepped in and helped to broker a peace agreement, afterwards they suggested the formation of an organization that would help avoid such huge conflicts in the future as well as encourage trade.
      • Homeworld: Belusia. Pop: Unkown
      • Other notes: The Silvous grow smarter as they grow larger and accumulate more mass and achive human-like intelligence when around 70-100 kg

    • Humans: We are humans.
      • Short history: When Humanity discovered practical FTL drives 150 years ago the Sol Republic, the governing body that was formed once humanity had started to colonize their solar system began an aggressive expansion towards the surrounding stars, absorbing any world that wanted to join them and conqured those that saw humanity as a threat. Then the Thygarian-Human war happened and humanity has calmed down in their expansionism.
      • Homeworld: Earth. Est Population: 15.000.000.000

  • The Tech:
    • Lasers:
Lasers is rather common, both in civilian use and in weaponry, Regarding weapon technology, Laser guns uses the so called "blaster princible", that is many short pulses for each shot.They are very powerful (the standard issue Assault Laser in the armed forces of the Sol Republic fires a shot that contains 4.8 kJ of energy, compared to the mordern day assault rifles 1 kJ) However, the big problem is overheating and energy requirements which limits their rate of fire and them being rather bulky (abovementioned assault laser only has a fire rate of 300 shots per minute (albiet it is capable of a maximum of 840 Shots per minute before overheating, but this requires a larger power source, the above restriction is due to the battery) compared to the M 16 A 3 800 rounds per minute and the laser weights 4.5 kg when unloaded compared to the M 16 A 4's 3.26 kg when unloaded). Despite this laser weapons is still heavily used by various armed forces but like any other high technology they get more and more rare the closer you get to the frontier and borders of known space. Also worthy of note is that the laser shot itself most often is invisible but many lasers have visible targeting lasers to help aiming. The sound they make is not "pew pew pew" but rather a snap and a crack, the snap from the laser firing and the crack from when it hits.

  • Robots:
Robotic technology are heavily used almost anywhere, from astroid mining to fighter drones to personal servants, however A.I is limited due to fear of uprising and as such the robots are usually just programmed with the intelligence required for them to perform their duties. Nanobots are also heavily used in medicine.

  • Medicine: In general galactic medicine is highly advanced, nanobots can be injected into someones body to over time destroy bacteria and viruses as well as repair damaged tissue, the most common form of nano-treatment is the so called nano-bath where the patient is completely submerged in water that is bristeling with nanobots. More used in the field is nano-shots, injectors containing nanobots that are inserted directly into the blood stream but classic first aid is also needed in such occasions. If you lose a limb it's possible to replace it with a lab-grown replacement, but if your prefer the more cyberpunky solutions thre is also a wide variety of cybernetic replacements to be had. Genetic engineering is also a highly active thing and has largely eliminated genetic diseases but it's heavily limited by various laws (No, it's not legal to be able to turn invisible through engineering). These advanced has also effectively doubeled the average human lifespan

  • Entertainment: Most entertainment is to be had through virtual reality games and holovids, but the ever popular board-and-cardgames still remains!

  • Kinetic/projectile Weaponry: Yes, they do still exist and are the choice for those that really wants more dakka, the handheld boomsticks of the 26th millenuim is not much different from modern day firearms but have a lot of improvements and an even greater variety, from heavy man-portable railguns to the two-step gyrojet to the massive ship Rail and Gauss Cannons, they are cheap, reliable and general ease of maintenence makes it's doubtful that kinetic weapons will ever truy go away.

  • Particle Beams: Almost no matter the form these guns are illegal to own privately due to the very reason that can make them something other than just another beam weapon: Irradiation, whatever is around the beam gets irratiadiated, eventually even the wielder. Not to mention that they pass through most types of body armour.

  • Plasma equipment: heavily used in industry but rarely used in any form of weapons, as a gun it's just a glorfied flamethrower without the advantage of covering your foe in a sticky fluid thats on fire and in sword form it's impracticality outweights the benefits.

  • FTL or Faster-Than-Light: There are two primary methods for FTL: The shipdrives which is based on the Alcubierre drive, drives meant for travel between nearby stars (The Nightengale's drive is capable of traveling 8 lightyears in 1-3 days, depending on how much of a hurry it is in) and the Gates, a grid of massive portals floating in space large enough to transport several capital ships at once, built by ancient Voidborne eons ago that works by forming artifical wormholes that connects with another Gate, allowing for instantanious travel between them, the gates are quite rare tough an far between so they are mostly used for very long jumps.

  • Melee: melee is and will always be something that exist regarding combat between two persons and albiet rare it is still customary to equip your soldiers with a form of melee weaponm, from the Thygarian's personal Kalashi longknife (usually you can think of an oversized bowieknife) to the Sol Marine's standard issue combat knife blades never seem to go out of style and as such there has also been advances in this area. most blades intended for combat now has so called monoedges, which means that their edges has been sharpened to an extremely small number of molecules. There are also fun things such as eletrified clubs for law enforcement.

  • Armor: And along with the advances in weapon technology of course there has been advances in armour. Nowadays most armour is reinforced by various forms of carbon or made from some kind of ceramics, from the composite plates and carbon weave cloth of the standard infantry soldier to the enviromental space armors of the space marines to the powered ceramic Juggernaught armor.

  • Major Political Bodies
    • The Sol Republic: The largest human faction, it has become much more peaceful compared to it's former expansionist ways but are still rather militarized

      • Government: Senate led republic

    • The Thygarian Empire:
      • Estimates Population: 67.680.000.000
      • Capital: Gulash moon Vanorith. Population: 3.000.000
      • Government: Meritochracy. If you can prove yourself worthy of a position you get it This is an extension of the belif that the strong and cunning shall rule the weak and dull.

    • The Insterstellar Union: An organization formed after the Human-Thygarian war mean't to foster trade and peace between the various empires. Formed initially by the Silvous
      • Capital: The space station Horizon. Est population: 15.000

    • The Silvous Dominion: One of the currently oldest civilizations around. While they are not all that large they are influential in politics, if nothing else because of a very extensive spy network.
      • Estimated Population: 80.000.000.000 (This includes non-sentiend speciemen)
      • Capital: Belusia
      • Government: Monarchy. Their current king, The Great One, or Tgo as it is also called has a mass of 1,3 metric tonnes.

  • Appearence: "Oh, the eyepatch?a long story."

  • Skills and Abilities: Natasha is a very skilled fencer as it has been a lifelong interest and passion for her. She is athletically fit and intelligent (albiet it might not appear that way sometimes). She is an experienced marksman too and knows how to lead.
  • Equipment:
    • Eyepatch: This unassuming piece of cloth covering her missing eye and the burnt out area around it but the fabric is more than just that, it is connected directly into her brain and allows her to acsess information about the ship directly and small cameras allows her to use it to see as well.
    • Modified Varoni Industries BPM 65 (Beam Pistol Model 65): This high powered laser pistol is a reliable weapon with excellent performance with a beam energy of 5 kJ, This pistol of a model called The Dragon is very expensive and very rare. With a changed lens to increase the range from 115 to 125 meters and an increased firing rate from 2 shots per second to 3. It's power is still unchanged.
    • Ancient Alien blade: A long sword whose edge and centers consists of a strange sort of crystal that makes the blade incredibly sharp even for monoedge standards, but that is not all, when channelling electric power through the blade the crystals start vibrating at super sonic speeds, enhancing it's cutting power, not to mention the incredible heat it generates as well. The metal keeping the blade togheter is also very durable and capable of taking a laster blast.
  • Personality: Ze Kaptain is a fun-loving, laid back Bottle Fairy, always enjoying a sip of rum, or whisky, or whater strong beverage that is at hands whenever she can. She also sometimes exxagrigate her accent inorder to amuse herself. However, when seriousness is need she will get serious and direct the crewmembers

  • Bio/Background: Born on a luxurous planet named Arcadia Natasha had it all good, but she was bored and repeatedly snuck away from her family's estate to go on adventures on the countryside. When she was 15 she was sent to a military academy inorder to get some dicipline beaten into her. She cleared the academy with exellent scores and was integrated into the Space fleet as a ship officer and rose through the ranks, becoming the captain of her own ship, a frigate going by the name of The Red Dove at the young age of 25. But she still thirsted for adventure and during one anti-pirate mission she personally led her marines in an attack on the pirate stronghold. However, during the attack, a blast from an explosive round that missed her head just barely and instead her the wall she was taking cover against burnt part of her face and ruined her right eye beyond repair, when she recovered she was met with a proposal: As she and her ship was not very known she could become a privateer in the service of the Sol Republic, in secret of course. She accepted as this meant that she were free to do almost anything she wanted. For 4 years she acted as a pirate against the enemies of the republic... But eventually she got tired of it all, renamed the ship to The Knightengale and decided to create a courier company which is now seeking for crewmates, both old and new are accepted!

I'm liking the Mass Effect feel, but can't help but notice you haven't really given a purpose for the ship. I know it is a Courier Ship but is there a specific mission that's going to go on?

  • Name: Jared Herringten
  • Age: 30
  • Species: Silvous
  • Appearance: When not in his default form, Jared prefers an appropriately buff and threatening guise. He is much larger than a normal Silvous, weighing in at 150 kg.
  • Sex (or lack of): M
  • Skills and Abilities: Jared is very, very good at killing people in as expeditious a way as possible. He has a degree in Law Enforcement from Petabax University, and has memorized a massive compendium of varyingly deadly forms to use. Many of them scaled-up versions of creatures from Australia. He can also shoot a gun pretty well when the situation calls for it, though he prefers a stealthy approach when possible.
  • Equipment: A large collection of weapons and armor; he has had various craftsmen make him a suit of armor for a human, a bear, and a velociraptor. While he prefers wading into melee with a broadsword he won from a Thygaren warlord or as a goddamn bear or velociraptor, Jared wields automatic kinetic weaponry such as SM Gs when melee isn't an option; he typically carries a stun baton and a taser on him when there isn't authorization for lethal force.
  • Personality: Jared is your friend. He is dedicated to letting everyone know that it's his job to make everyone's life easier, and that sometimes you have to bring the hammer down to do that. He might take a little too much pleasure in tearing apart boarders after they realize the puddle of piss on the floor is, in fact, a massive velociraptor.
  • Crew position: Security Officer
  • Bio/Background: Jared, for a long time, was a bully. He beat up the other Silvouses, he found the most intimidating and attractive forms, and was basically a tremendous douchebag. This was fine up through High School, but he crashed hard once he hit the real world. Jared got mixed in with the wrong crowd, got in trouble with drugs, and would've really gotten fucked up if it weren't for that one Policeman. He got picked up one night after a deal gone bad, bleeding out in an alley and running out of biomass. The cops dragged him to Juvie, and from there Jared went straight, doing everything he could to get his life on track. Got into Law Enforcement, served a few years in the police, then went private when this new job on a delivery ship opened up.

  • Name: Xabobria "Bob" Zolter

  • Species: Lignarian
  • Appearance: In the eyes of other species, he looks like any other Lignarian. His metal torso plates have a painted-on tuxedo. He also has a wireless headset in his right ear.
  • Sex: Male
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Military training:
      • Knows which end of the gun to point, and that the pointy part of a sword goes in the other man.
      • Can fix/maintain weaponry.
    • Communication: He can competently operate communications devices and equipment, as well as talk... good.
  • Equipment: While Bob laments that he cannot carry his trusty anti-armor gyrojet, nor his Gatling laser, he accepts that he is supposed to be in a more civil job. As such, he only equips the non-lethal weaponry befitting of a lowest-ranking officer of a merchant vessel.
    • Wireless headset: It can also call up the holo-interface for his computer terminal.
    • Lignarian Automatic Laser Pistol: A light repeating laser pistol that is customary for Lignarians of his rank, its beam has a maximum effective range of 50 meters, 1 kJ per shot, and six shots per second. It is purposefully underpowered in order to show respect to one's superior officer, showing that they are not planning a mutiny. It's on his right hip.
    • Lignarian Plasma Sword: A mostly-symbolic weapon worn to indicate his status as an officer. Many may joke that the plasma sword is an ineffective weapon, what with its massive oxygen intake, loud operating noise level, tendency to burn the user, and lower performance than molecular blades - but that's okay. What matters is that in sword form, the produced four-foot beam of crudely shaped plasma is scary as all hell. Additionally, its adjustable length lets it turn into a nifty tool. He has it on his left hip.
  • Personality: Somewhat upbeat and positive (for a Lignarian), Bob is a direct and to-the-point sort of man. He might sometimes come off as a bit rough, but he means well, and usually wouldn't try to insult people or make them feel terrible.
  • Crew position: Communications Officer
  • Bio/Background: After being born and serving until adulthood, Bob decided that the best way to increase the honor of his people was to go out into the galaxy and do the best job he could at whatever position he could find. However, military training had mainly revolved around ground and space combat - it definitely would not be constructive to just hire himself out as a mercenary. He started out just taking a few regular jobs, such as being as a barista, a dishwasher, and a few other entry-level jobs while he searched for more meaningful employment. He sometimes had trouble with comparing the ways humans and the other races do business and the way his race does business, which has led to some... incidents. He got fired from his last gig due to one of these incidents, but managed to get hired on the Knightengale. But as luck just so had it, when he had served aboard a space vessel in the military, part of his job was very similar to what a the humans classified as a "Communications Officer", so he applied for the job.
  • Other: Nothing.

  • Race: Lignarian
  • History: Many millennia ago, the Eternal Empire of the Mutirri spanned across many planets and their culture blossomed, until they were all eventually killed off by a calamity of an unknown nature. Nowadays, all that's left are the Lignarians. Originally a species of animals that were the closest genetically to the Mutirri, when the Lignarians finally developed enough mental capacity and had their bronze age, they began to discover long-buried cities, citadels, shipyards, and other remnants of the lost civilization, and were catapulted through their development due to finding and using the apparently magical technology left behind by the Mutirri. Fast-forwarding through their tech trees, this elevated the socially-primitive Lignarians from a bunch of sword-swinging savages barely one millennium ago to one of the major races in the galaxy, having cracked FTL technology about 200 years ago.
  • Physical Details: A human looking at a Lignarian might mistake them for the hunchbacked offspring of a human and a rhinoceros. They are a hardy species built for strength and survival, and have very little dimorphism, with the average member being 2.2 meters tall feet tall and 400 kilograms. Their head looks much like a rhinoceros’s, with a pair of large horns jutting out from their protruding face. Their feet are hoof-like with no toes, and their hands are similar to their feet, but have eight double-jointed fingers equally spaced around the circumference, which, if need be, allows them to pull back their fingers and walk on all fours. Their skin is a light-gray color, and incredibly durable. Lignarians are comfortable between 0 and 60 degrees C, so they tend to not wear any clothing aside from a set of horizontal metal armor plates on their front that goes from the bottom of their groin to just below their neck. The metal is tinted differently and has patterns inscribed upon it corresponding to that individual's job and/or rank. Both genders have a single cloaca in their groin region, and as such have no "butt" in the way many other species do. Instead, their hindquarters simply converge into a very short, stubby, tail, no more than five inches long. The theoretical life expectancy of a Lignarian is around 260 solar years, but in practice, the majority are killed before they reach 150.
  • Culture: Lignarian culture revolves around military structure, with government officials being high-ranking military officers. Military conscription is mandatory for all Lignarians, regardless of gender, when they are born. Most of what the other races would consider "schooling" is done by the military in parallel with their service. When a Lignarian reaches adulthood at approximately 34 solar years old , their military service is considered completed, unless they wish to become a True Soldier of the military, and they then go on to whatever profession they were trained in during their service. Despite being viewed as one of the most primitive space-faring races, their discipline and refusal to let down a commanding officer leads them to tend to be less deceitful than most other species. Most of their philosophy revolves around a mentality that focuses on enduring through struggles as a way to make oneself stronger, while the majority of their religions focus on gaining honor in service to their military or species.
    While their sturdiness and medical technology lets them survive brutal injuries that would turn other races into paste, like many other species they cannot regrow limbs. Artificial limbs are viewed negatively, perceived as inferior to the original Lignarian arm. The socially-acceptable replacement for a Lignarian body part is an artificial limb that has a weapon of some sort incorporated into it.
    What Lignarians consider an "inside voice" is closer to what other species consider shouting. When they whisper, they can lower their voice down to conversational decibel levels. This has caused many other species to assume Lignarians are deaf, but they can hear perfectly fine; rather, their vocal chords are just incapable of going any lower, and their ears are used to the noise level.
    They tend to not be very good with money, with most leaning towards the extremes of either refusing to ever spend what they have, or spending whatever they make. And that doesn't even take into account the fact that they keep counting in base 16 instead of base 10.
    Lignarian names are broken up into four components, with the first three tending to be merged into one in order to give them a two-part names like humans. Normally, the name is written as [CLAN]'[PERSONAL NAME]'[YEAR] [TRUTH]. The "Truth" is actually something that has no direct translation into English, but it encompasses a sort of emotion regarding the truth of what the head of the clan thinks is appropriate for each newly-hatched Lignarian, as well as what fate he thinks the young one might have.

This sounds weird, but I had an idea. What if the crew starts off by transporting a prisoner Pitch Black style and after the inevitable high-jinks ensue, the criminal joins the team? It'd make for a good first mission, no?

Personality: A smug kind of guy, who can be a little cocky, mostly due to his good looks and skill at…well just about anything he tries. Although he is more deadpan and serious when it gets down to business, but most of the time he plays the loveable rogue.

Crew position: Gunnery Chief

Bio/Background: Kal was the second son of a Sol Republic governor and politician, as such he was afforded much comfort and spent most of his youth adventuring with his brothers on space stations and various planets and going on interstellar holidays due to his Father’s line of work. This gave Kal a restless spirit and a need for adventure. As such he joined the military academy at 15, much to his father chagrin. It was here he was trained and was an excellent student, coming first in all his unarmed combat and weapons training classes. Upon graduation he was assigned as a marine corporal to a Republic Cruiser, Integrity II. After various deployments and glowing reviews of his ability, Kal was soon promoted to Master Sergeant and commanded his own marine platoon. On a Republic coordinated attack on a criminal hive, Kal and his own marines flanked the enemy and were met with heavy resistance. Hearing it was critical that the blast doors were opened, lest the main Republic force be trapped, he charged a heavy turret nest and took it out with two well placed grenades. Almost at the stronghold controls he met with heavy assault droids and Lignarian shock troopers. Once again urgency forced him into action and he lead his platoon head on, during the engagement he came face to face with a Lignarian, they fought hand to hand. While Kal was clearly the more skilful of the two, he could not beat the Lignarian’s brute strength and tenacity. A lapse of judgement caused Kal to overextend and the brute shoved its horn into Kal’s shoulder and tore his left arm off with a flick. Kal shoved his combat blade into the Lignarian’s brain in response and collapsed.

Awaking in intensive care Kal found out, due to his actions, the criminal hive was easily subjugated. However, due to the severity of his injuries, Kal was honourably discharged with a full pension. Angry that the military wouldn’t take him back, even if he got a new arm, Kal decided to go in a different direction. Pooling all his money and pension, Kal refused a surrogate arm and purchased a state of the art cybernetic arm. Equipped with a state of the art arm and military training Kal became a bounty hunter, occasionally dabbling in the slightly illegal (weapons trade, trafficking, bodyguards for criminal elite). After three years Kal got tired and had caught wind of something, one Natasha Emeraldas, youngest to achieve captain in the republic, was hiring a crew. Kal joined as soon as possible.

Capable of finding the shortest, fastest distance or the safest with unerring speed Penelope is a great timesaver when routes get complicated or need to be come up with quick. She also just happens to be a Solar Navy reservist.

  • Personality: Penelope strives to bethoroughly professional officer, but suffers from bouts of instability. She tries not to worry too much about the multitude of ways to die in space. Work tends to bore her fairly quickly leading to most of her time actually being spent finding some way to amuse herself. That does include being willing to 'help out' her crew mates if they ask..
  • Crew position: Astrogator
  • Bio/Background: Penelope didn't know what she wanted to do after high school, but with a vague idea that travel might be fun she decided studying to be a starship officer was a pretty good idea. Never having all that much difficulty with classes she graduated on the low end of average for the class . With as many ships that travel the stars as there are it wasn't difficult to find work on a series of a Solar flagged freighters for several years. At one point she also spent time aboard a Silvousian spaceliner that was in need of another watch officer. Her longest single job was as a surveyor for the SRAS which she managed to hold for about five years before returning to civilian life again. Her only brush with military service has been a couple three month refresher periods of active duty aboard Navy gunboats.

So far I say all posted characters accepted. However I would like to make some notes: There are no energy shields here, I tried to find a good way of implementing them but I couldn't and this is a rather hard sci-fi RP (trying to keep it around 4 on Mohs Scale Of Sci Fi Hardness). Also Icarus, if you intend for your characters Assault blaster to be high power I would suggest putting the energy value around 6-10 kJ. Rightnow it's weaker than the standard issue assault laser/rifle

  • Personality: Like most Atomians, Nyra thinks fast and talks fast. She is constantly planning and thinking and she can often sound like she is stammering or nervous, mostly because she usually is. She can be cunning and can usually think quickly on her feet. Her favorite color is pink.

She was separated from her family and people when she was fooling around with a FTL relay that she did not understand the effects of. She was teleported to Earth and was found by the captain Natasha. She would admit to no one in a thousand years how smitten she is with the Captain. She loved the free-life and dedicated herself to exploring the far reaches of the galaxy.

  • History: Many millennia ago, when the first sentient species were thriving in the universe, the Voidborne had created some of the most advanced technology in existence, and had home on a giant of a planet. There were two factions of people on the planet. Those that valued the science and power that came with examining the universe, and those that lived in fear of it. These groups were in constant war. Those that were smart, and there families, built a huge colony ship and left their homeworld to escape the war. With them, they took the planets entire reserve of powerful nuclear energy. Once in the tight space of the ship with the energy, they discovered that their bodies reacted to it. It was a powerful stimulant to them, supercharging their intelligence. They had finally discovered the source of their great knowledge. Just as the celebrating was beginning, the energy reacted poorly with the ship, and it exploded. But, the bizarre combination of nuclear energy and cosmic ray had a strange effect on the people. Instead of dying, their cells were quickly blasted with reactive energy, and they quickly gained an adaption to their environment, which happened to be the cold depths of space. This cut-of of evolution became the Atomians, and they have since become apart of galactic civilization, and are considered one of the most invaluable races in the galaxy.
  • Physical Details: The original explosion that gave the Atomians their reactive biology, known to them as The Alpha Event, changed their entire bodies. Their skin became soft and smooth, taking on the color and appearance of the beautiful scenery of space that were in effect during the explosion. They lost the facial dimorphism that most species have, as they did not have a use for it. They see through faint traces of bioluminescence and light. They see by picking up color and heat. They have an extremely robust cellular regenerative system. They heal faster than many other races, and can reach thousands of years in age. Another effect of the Alpha Event is that the Atomians gained the ability to reproduce with every and all races and species of any gender. For this reason, they are considered very important in the galaxy. They speak with a slightly metallic or robotic sounding voice.
  • Culture:
    • Atomians are known for their observational capability and non-linear thinking. This manifests as an aptitude for research and espionage. They are constantly experimenting and inventing, and it is generally accepted that they always know more than they are letting on.
    • Atomians have no concept of government, so certain kinds of structure and organization are very strange to them. They consider their family to be those born in the same galaxy as them. They value knowledge and experience as signs of maturity. When an Atomian reaches a certain age, it is their responsibility to build their first invention, and it is considered a very important rite of passage. Nyra built her own personal Omni-Pen.
    • Because they do not have unique facial structure, they often refer to themselves by name whenever they enter a room.
    • Because they seen through light and color, their social interaction is based around this. Every living creature has their own special colors, shades and hues and to describe it would be impossible for an Atomian. Just like most people, everyone has their favorite colors, but warm colors are generally considered beautiful and attractive. Pinks and other shades of light red are considered sexy. Rain is a very special event to Atomians because it causes color to mix and meld and they consider a time of celebration and debauchery.

  • Appearance: He constantly wears thick black armour that obscures his face, which I will describe in detail in his equipment list. Under the suit, he is a man of average height, with cropped black hair and short well kept stubble. He is not very muscular, but can handle himself in a fight if need be.
  • Sex (or lack of): Male.
  • Skills and Abilities: Nothing special. Just an average joe.
  • Equipment: A Large, black, mechanical suit of armour. It has a large cockpit, with a monitor coming down from the scanner, allowing Screech to see outside the suit. his arms reach to mid elbow, and the soace from the elbow to the wrist hold the mechanism for the retractable arms and a bullet clip for the wrist cannons. His legs reach to just below the suits knee, and the rest of the leg holds the hydraulics. The suit has many functions:
    • Hydraulic Legs: These allow him to jump great heights and deliver devastating kicks.
    • Retractable and Extendable Hands: These allow him to reach great distances.
    • Sonic Core: The main power source of the suit. It can also fire off sonic blasts, which can be used to cause structural damage to metal, concrete, plastic, glass and bone. It really eats the suits power, and can only be used once or twice per charge.
    • Camera System: A small disc that protrudes above the cockpit, it can see in 180 degrees, and can scan in UV, Infa-Red, Radiation, Heat, and Night Vision.
    • Shoulder Mounted Cannons: Two, capable of delivering a 6 KJ power shot.
    • Wrist Cannons: They can fire 50 bullets per second, with a capacity to hold up to 1500 bullets in each arm at any given time.
    • Bio Lock: This prevents anyone but Screech from using the armour. Apon foreign entry, the system will give a short, simultaneous shock to all of the intruders cells, knocking them out for up to 24 hours.
    • Turbo Drive: Situated on the back, it functions like a jet-pack, allowing him to blast upwards and charge horizantily.
    • The Black Pulse: Screech also has a small knife, that, at the push of a button, vibrates extremely quickly, causing massive organ damage when turned on inside a life form. This knife is for use outside the Suit, in case he is unable to use/ can't access the suit.
  • Personality: He's a warm person, and generally tries to be friendly. He does creep people out when he takes a bit too much pleasure in killing people.
  • Crew Position: Screech is a bounty hunter who has hired to protect the ships freight.
  • Background: Screech joined a band of theives when he was eighteen. On his first heist with them, they were killed in an asteroid storm on the way back to there base. He was left as the sole survivor, and with the money they stole, bought the Black Screech armour, and wiped himself out of almost every database in the universe, making him near impossible to find unless you know what to look for. He squandered the rest of the money on girls and alcohol, and was left penniless.He became a bounty hunter to try to regain his fortune, and eventually heard about the Knigtengale from one of his contacts. He headed out to the ship in search of a job, and was recruited. He know serves under Jared Herringten as a security officer aboard the ship.

  • Appearance: He's above average height for his species (2.1m), his color is more gray-brown and his shell is dark brown/black. He wears a old work jacket, work pants, steel plated boots and work cap with a scarf around his neck, all seems to have had a company mark removed. His upper-right arm is bionically replaced.

  • Skills and Abilities:
    • His exoskeleton is quite durable, enabling him to take hits very well, The shell on his back is by far the strongest, rivaling steel in it's strength.
    • He can fly using wings on his back.
    • He's and old engineer from a Asteroid Mining Company, so he's skilled in creating and maintaining robots and general systems.
  • Equipment: He owns a lot of tools and weapons he "borrowed" from his old job.
    • Laser Cutter - A cutting tool using a laser, modded to increase the length and strength of the laser, to make use of it as a close combat weapon as well as a cutting tool.
    • Handheld Ore Cutter - A laser tool used by mining droids to cut large and heavy ore from asteroids. This one's been modded to be used as a ranged weapon, held by two hands, it fires a strong, concentrated laser beam that can cut through many things with ease.
    • Heavy Collider Beam - A custom-modded version of a mining tool, it's powers been lowered to minimize kickback and make it powered by smaller, exchangeable batteries. The weapon charges and fires a small sphere of speed up electrons, that once they hit, releases their kinetic energy for a powerful burst of strong force.
    • Hydro-methane Torch - This mining tool is a large blowtorch created to melt ice on asteroids to ease mining, but it has been changed to be able to be held by a person. It fires a spray of flames that can be set to fire at temperatures between 500 - 2000 degrees Celsius.
  • Personality: Diego is a fun loving though lazy guy. He enjoys parties and spending time together with others, though when it comes to work, he always finds the easiest solution he can and makes it work.
  • Crew position: Quartermaster
  • Bio/Background: Diego was born on a Human world, where he grew up rather sheltered, as human's didn't want much to do with them and the Kokra keeping to themselves. He spent his days growing up partying whit friends while a was taught robot engineering by his father. Once grown up, he left the planet and joined an Asteroid Mining Corporation that needed those who could maintain and control the robots. He spent a few years here, gathering a good amount of tools and things he "borrowed". But when the message came there would be inspection on the station, he took a chance and left before he could be found out. Wanted by his old management, wanting their stuff back and without job, he's now found Knightingales courier service as a great option for him to get work and to stay low for a while.

  • Race: Kokra
  • History: The Kokra were once a much more grander species, who lived on their planet where they liked it a mostly kept to themselves, but would happily trade and try to scam out as much as they could. But as it turned out, their planet was at it's end, the core began to collapse and the planet tore itself apart. Many of the Kokra died that day, but their leaders and much of the population managed to evacuate the planet and took refuge among the Sol Republic, where their people then spread and moved around the galaxy, finding work and settling down where they could.
  • Physical Details: The Kokra are insectoid creatures, they stand bipedal with 4 arms, though they can bend their legs enough to go down on all 6 and move around. Their body's covered in a powerful Exoskeleton that can withstand much force, the shell on their back is as strong as steel. Underneath the shell on the back are 4 wings, 2 on each side that allows them to fly. But their great weakness comes with handling damage, their body has trouble healing any damage inflicted to it. Their body's doesn't have blood that can clog wounds, making bleeding out a high risk for them. This race is known alot for having to replace limbs and heal wounds by replacing it with robotic parts.
  • Culture: The Kokra are known for being hoarders and thieves, giving them a rather bad reputations. They see themselves as survivors and just do what they can to survive. During their life, a Kokra will have anywhere from 100-300 offspring, making other species fear their numbers grow to large. Kokra otherwise usually are rather connected in their societies, sharing with their friends and neighbors. They value their companions, friends and those close to them over all, making them great allies once you get to know them and can keep them from stealing from you.

  • Appearance: They laugh in your general direction.

    • Basic Military Training - The duo have been through Basic and Advanced Individual Training. Neither have seen actual combat.
    • Mimicry - In addition to being able to perfectly stand in for each other, the twins can do an extremely good impression of the people around them.
    • Piloting - Both are certified star pilots and have spent most of their careers doing just that with ships of various size.
  • Equipment:
    • 1 Clarke-2 flechette gun each
    • 1 Palcom each, a holo-display personal computer that fits in the palm.
    • 1 Innercom each, a communication piece fitted in their teeth that allows talking and listening through other communication devices without the need of an external mic receiver or transmitter.
  • Personality: Upbeat, energertic and lively. Solaris and Polaris had not problem living up to their genetic design when it came to the playing part. When off duty, the duo enjoy playing games or playing pranks on others. While much older then they look, they haven't fully shed that teenage stubborness and display a childlike insensitivty at times.
  • Crew position: Co-Pilots
  • Bio/Background: Solaris and Polaris are from the planet Pergamos, of the Seven Stars Union, a tiny breakaway nation formed from mass produced, synthetic clone laborers who revolted due to mistreatment. Clones are engineered to be sterile, incapable of producing children of their own. This, coupled with the SSU’s aversion towards messing with genetics in light of their own creation, has led to continued cloning to sustain their population. Solaris and Polaris are oddities in this process – they are twins. Not simply sharing a common genetic parent like thousands of others, but genuinely being born from the same egg. The two are classified as CT-001B; Caretaker Models, First Generation, Version B. Their originals were designed as cheerful and energetic, playmates, and caretakers for younger children. Despite being genetically predisposed towards this domestic role, the twins set out on a different path not only from their models but from the isolationist SSU as a whole. After a mandatory yearlong service in the military (they served in the space fleet), the two served briefly on an SSU scientific study ship before taking jobs with Knightingale for the chance to better explore the galaxy.

    • Combat: In-built, automated targeting system. Ammunition count interface. Expensive bio-medical library documenting vital organs, pressure points, and critical first-aid application. Wireless encryption programs, allowing him to crack and possibly reprogram enemy electronics (ranging from sentries, to security cameras, to less advanced combat units, even an enemy gunship, given sufficient time.) A tungsten alloy micro-weave reinforces his muscular and skeletal system, granting him a tactical strength thrice that of an average human. This does not necessarily translate into striking power, nor does it account for sufficient martial training, of which Victor has little to none.
    • Utility: Can filter in breathable air from otherwise hostile environments, if possible.     • External Automated Resolution Sentries: Strapped onto his back and torso, the E.A.R.S. are nothing to laugh at despite giving Victor an almost cartoonishly top heavy appearance . When detached from his body, they can hover at speeds up to forty miles per hour, capable of invaluable reconnaissance data even in the darkest conditions. It's palladium power core will function up to five hours Their armor is formed out of a special carbon-alloy weave known only to his commune, capable of glancing blows from anti-air ordinance and short bouts of sustained automatic gunfire. It has teeth, as well: It's magnetic accelerators can trow out minuscule particles of tungsten at incredible speeds, and at a rate similar to your average assault rifle. These shots impact at 4 kJ. There are seven in-built micro-missiles in each sentry, delivering a lethal explosive payload up to six meters, and mild to moderate injures for another four meters. Their last weapon is a three-use anti-ballistic laser.
    • Secondary Sentries: Composed of varying sections covering Victor's legs, shins, and arms, these miniature sentries aren't nearly as autonomous as the E.A.R.S., but can be attached to the walls, floors and ceiling. They're only good for twenty 'shots', and two micro-missles. Unlike the E.A.R.S, there are three, as opposed to the E.A.R.S. two, but these can remain function for eight hours, instead of five.
    • Custom Handgun: Prioritizing powerful, accurate shots before hall else, this hand held rail-gun is only capable of firing five shots before needing to cool down. These five shots however, deliver an impact rivaling low-end anti-material weaponry.
    • Blade: A carbon-steel blade is mounted into Victor's forearm, though he'll avoid melee combat whenever possible.
  • Personality: Distant, first and foremost. Not distant in the sense that one would question if anything was their, but rather the kind that connotes a person in heavy thought. When he's not in his own little world, however, he's an utterly pragmatic and goal driven person, and that isn't necessarily exclusive to himself. When it's not in the way of something he perceives to be critically important, he'll go out of his way to assist others in what they're doing. That is if they accept his help. On his free time, he'll pursue some odd thing with an almost child-like curiosity, taking whatever data he can on it and transmitting it to his commune.
  • Position on Ship: Will provide any service needed.
  • Bio: Having pursued a career in military engineering, Victor's life took a sudden downward turn when an accident on site had left him with several critical injuries. He survived, but the extensive cybernetic models all over his body made him something frightening to look at , by any means. His marriage quickly declined as most of society faced him with unjust anxiety and discrimination. He simply couldn't preform to the standards he had before, and had dropped out of the service. Soon enough, he was all alone. All alone, that is until someone with similar impairments to himself came with an offer. In no less than a week, Victor had joined a commune composed of transhumance, cyborgs, and persons of extensive prosthetic parts, all with the aspiration to transcend biological and technical limits. With his background in engineering, he fit in well, and the leadership showed him their favor. Over the years, his replacement became more than that; they became upgrades, better than anything nature could have provided. Better than anything that had been taken away from him. At the moment, he's traveling to create some income for the commune, as all it's members to from time to time.

Alright, so I have two characters for you to look at. The second one's bio isn't finished, but I'll fill the rest out in the morning. Everyone pick out which one you like better and I'll play as that one.

  • Name: N3-PH 1 L 1 M (the crew members can feel free to give her whatever name they please, although if I may suggest, how about "Neffy"?)
  • Age: 1 month
  • Species: Modified Human/Experimental Superweapon/Cyborg/Artificial Human
  • Appearance: The N3-PH1L1M
  • Sex: Female
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Cooking: N3-PH 1 L 1 M seems to derive some joy from cooking, but only with others or for others, and is very good at it as well, despite possessing no formal training.
    • Resistance: Greatly enhanced resistance to infection and disease as well as poisons. Moderately enhanced resistance to cold and extreme heat.
    • Modified Human: Most of what this covers will be covered under equipment, but her ability to calculate using internal memory alone is unmatched by supercomputers, and she has extremely good reflexes and reaction times. She is also greatly resistant to physical damage compared to normal humans, and can repair damage at a much faster rate.
  • Equipment (just a forewarning? This is where the fun begins):
    • Rodsgun: The Rodsgun is a very ingenious little piece of machinery. Loaded with a belt of small tungsten rods, it's basically a hand-mounted rapid fire railgun. Each projectile is equivocable to a small mortar, and can be fired off at high speeds in quick succession. This is N3-PH 1 L 1 M's main form of offense.
    • Razor wings: Her wings are capable of proactively shielding her from projectile weaponry, possessing an advanced energy absorption system that renders blasters ineffective and absorbs the kinetic energy of solid projectiles.
    • Vanquish System: A special functionality powered by the energy absorption of her wings. N3-PH 1 L 1 M seems to possess the ability to generate anti-matter. However, the cost is exorbitant, so she can't do it often unless she has had time to charge, or has sampled sustained fire for an extended period of time. She can generate tiny amounts with little effort though, enough to function as a psuedo anti-matter drive which greatly increases her speed.
  • Personality: Kind and sweet deep down, but a little confused and impressionable on account of just being born. She doesn't really get people, or when she's doing something inappropriate. In stark contrast to this seems to be the AI who seems to be hijacking her body whenever she's in danger. This AI personality is cold, calculating, and will not hesitate to pull the trigger on anything. It only goes away once she ceases to be in danger.
  • Crew Position: Cook/Moral Support
  • Bio/Background: Originally a sentient techno-organic superweapon built for a galactic crime boss, N3-PH 1 L 1 M's design reflects the one who ordered it made in many ways. Overtly destructive, obedient and submissive, and rather unfortunately dressed for nefarious purposes we care not to contemplate. She herself is practically an infant, having finished being "home grown" only months ago. The man who had her designed was hoping she would imprint on him like a newborn, and that he'd be able to mold her into an obedient superweapon. As it stands, the crew of the Knightengale kind of ruined that plan.

  • Age: 14
  • Species: Human Psyker/Clone
  • Appearance: Don't try and make his hair stand on end. Just don't.
  • Sex: Male
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Intelligence: Isaac is hyperintelligent, possessing the natural genius and intellect of antiquity's greatest minds, as well as a top-notch education and a spark of curiosity that never dies.
    • Mechanical Expertise: Isaac is a machine mastermind, and has been building and fixing since he's had the coordination to do so. His hands are well-trained to the task at hand, and he is capable of working extremely swiftly, even under pressure.
    • Psyker: Isaac is what is known amongst humans as a Psyker, a rare genetic offshoot that is slowly being cultivated by humans. Psykers possess supernatural powers, Isaac's in this case being the ability to "talk" to machines, and sense the components of a machine or tool without having to take it apart.
  • Equipment:
    • The gloves: Self-invented, all-purpose, downright miraculous safety gloves complete with a swiss army knife like collection of engineering tools. Everything you can imagine is miniaturized, and it's in there.
    • Safety goggles: Safety first!
  • Personality: A vain, prideful recluse, Isaac often comes off as thinking that only machines understand him, as he spends most of his time around them. Who knows. Cramped quarters with a bunch of new people might do him some good. Is endlessly curious, and affectionate to machines.
