[up][up]Brave had a Troubled Production which resulted in the original director getting released after trying to turn the movie into her soapbox. Not exactly comparable.

[up] Oh, you didn't kill it. No harm done. smile

I'm glad that they didn't stick any dumb comedy into the teaser. They know what we liked about the first one, and they're giving it to us right off the bat.

I'm really glad they're not doing the "the characters have aged over the time skip, but are basically where they were when we last saw them" bit. Hiccup doesn't just look older, he feels like he's grown a lot - even from that little trailer. He's got his own armor, he's working on advanced tricks, and he exudes confidence.

Djimon Hounsou and Cate Blanchett are joining the cast, the former as villain Drago Bloodfist and the latter as good guy Volca. It's also been revealed that Harington will play a dragon trapper who's very full of himself. It sounds like he'll be a somewhat comic character.

You know, if we ever get a glimpse into the far future of Berk, it'd be awesome/hilarious to see Hiccup as a thin, wiry adult yet with a beard as monstrously huge as Stoick's.

The first poster is here.

I'm glad they're keeping the Disney Renaissance-esque simplistic yet cool style from last time. Looking at it again, I'm even getting some Princess Mononoke vibes. Anyone else?

I'm very put off by how the marketing department seems to only be aiming for the teen girl crowd, since the teaser trailer and all the posters focus only on the Time Skip Hiccup. He doesn't even LOOK like an aged-up Hiccup! He looks like a new actor fashioned to look like Edward from Twilight! Ugh.

[up] Keep in mind that we're still early in the advertising process. At this point, the goal is simply to let people know that this is happening.

Fun fact: at one point, Pattinson was apparently being considered for a role (I'm guessing the one that eventually went to Harington).

I dunno, I can totally see older!Hiccup as being Hiccup but older.

And they didn't recast him; he's been Jay Baruchel since the first movie.

[up][up][up] I don't see what you mean. Hiccup looks like he did, just older and more mature. Pardon the filmmakers for making their sequel with - shock and gasp! - development instead of everything being the same as in the first movie. I mean, we don't get enough sequels that are exactly like their predecessors, do we?

[up][up][up].... but Hiccup was cast with a voice for the first film a few years ago! You mean Pattinson was considered for that film too?

[up][up]Jokes go over your head.
