Wow this last one was pretty nasty. There's some speculation that this was a direct response to FANS bad mouthing Riley to Rowan Blanchard's face and verbally attacking HER over it.
Wow, just wow. I already feel at times like a misanthrope, just... Jesus! No one deserves that.
Troper Wall — DeviantArtIt's bad but my personal feelings are meh. This is old hat. Will Wheaton absolutely HATES Wesley Crusher for the very same reason. And while Jake Lloyd doesn't hate Star Wars, he sure as hell got his own share of it over Anakin. As I'm sure Hayden Christiansen does.
Girl Meets Rah Rah was alright, but did anyone else find it a tad off-putting how much that cheerleader coach looks like Michael Shannon?
I didn't even know who that was before now. Had to IMDB him. So for me it's a no. I do find it silly that they keep pitting Riley against current adversity when it's already established that outside of violence, her major issues are with her future. Since it's already established that all but one or two people on-show seem to like her, it was a foregone conclusion she would make the team by the end of the episode. My only hope is that they don't waste this episode by never showing her cheer lead again.

Shit got pretty dang serious in this latest one. Riley told Lucas she saw him as a brother and then cornered Maya about her feelings right in front of him. Won't spoil the main action of the episode. It was pretty awesome.
I was super worried, but the "Texas" trilogy ended up being as good as I was hoping it would be. The acting for all of the main characters (yes, even Zay) was top-notch. I am thoroughly impressed by all of them for being able to handle the subtlety that this show was lacking for a long while. I hope the writers continue with this pattern.
I'm now worried that this won't carry over to the next few episodes (supposedly the next three or four are also filler... the timeline is about as ambiguous as BMW was).
After letting it all register for about a week or so, while the "Girl Meets Texas" trilogy was good, I was annoyed with once again, things are trying to make things good for Maya no matter what the cost. Prime_of_Perfection brought up the "People getting pressured into stuff for Maya" theme and now even Riley is affected. She basically lied about seeing Lucas as a brother so Maya can have her chance with him. But at least Farkle called her out on it.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the idea of Lucas and Maya hooking up. Maybe it's because I really really hate the idea of "Girl who treats boy like crap is obviously the best match for him" that's being pushed (Not helping that it seems to be popular), but that's another discussion.
Still, will be interesting to see how the season ends...
Why do decent characters suffer Character Derailment while others get the golden child treatment? Running the Asylum while Armed with Canon. That is still my least favorite trait about Maya and I kept it in mind this whole time. However this time it's actually having a negative impact on someone & I'm not entirely sure how it end, so I'm intrigued. That and I'm glad to see the "Loves like brother" thing is Maya projecting her own desires onto the situation as opposed to her actually understanding Riley's feelings.
Oh and I agree that I really don't want them to get together, especially since Maya just isn't that good for Lucas on a personal level IMO.

Improving as an author, one video at a time.Speaking of shipping, am I the only one who thought that Charlie was more antagonistic this time around? I mean, I really don't like the idea of Maya hooking up with Lucas, but I like the Derailing Love Interests trope even less.
Why do decent characters suffer Character Derailment while others get the golden child treatment? Running the Asylum while Armed with Canon.I wouldn't call him antagonistic, just more frustrated. He was making clear he isn't Lucas and doesn't want to be Lucas' replacement really, that he's his own person. That and from what I'm maybe noticing, there seems to be a common element of the reality of situation not being what one was hoping, what with Maya's thing with Lucas seeming more difficult now or him with Riley not being his expectations and he's more settling or so forth.

Roses are plants and violets are too, here's some cake... please don't sue.I just found this from the Sitcoms Online message board. Apparently someone didn't like the direction a certain character was taken...

Well, that religious episode wasn't so bad at all. Not like people made it out to be.
And what about this latest one? I don't know how to take what Farkle did in this one. Though I'm definitely glad he's still with Smackle.
I'm currently watching latest one, not done yet, but did just want to post that Charlie has started creeping me out now with how strongly he comes off about everything.
And he balances out once he lets up.
Also, really glad to see Harper back!

Improving as an author, one video at a time.I don't like Charlie. He tries too hard. It really does just paint him as a false romantic lead.
If Disney pulled this off as polyamory I'd really respect them but knowing that it's Disney and cable TV, I know that's a pipe dream. We're just going to have to see how this one falls. And it will probably fall on the side of Riley and Lucas. Eventually. Possibly with Lucas bouncing between the two girls at least once.
I'm glad they don't go poly route here because, while I'm not against poly in itself, I feel that when it's thrown out, it's often more a way of avoiding actually addressing the issues and doesn't actually consider the situation.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.I know. It's easier to write that way. IF they went poly, I'd expect Lucas to deal with each girl on her own the show would actually explore how the whole thing works as opposed to just glossing over the problems.
But, again, this is Disney. It's a pipe dream that they would go that route, and unthinkable they could ever get it right if they tried.
So hey, new episode coming this Friday:
Girl Meets STEM The boys in class only let the girls have a minimal part in a science experiment; Riley voices her frustration.
*sighs* I hope it's not going to turn into one of those episodes...

Why do decent characters suffer Character Derailment while others get the golden child treatment? Running the Asylum while Armed with Canon. What do you mean? :/
(Not trying to be hostile, I'm genuinely curious.)
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself. An episode about sexism that usually involves making all of the male cast members into assholes to set up the girls not only proving themselves but showing them to be superior.
Basically the Conflict Ball for the sake of a You Go, Girl! moment.
Sorry, from all the other episodes of this manner I see, I automatically become cynical.
Why do decent characters suffer Character Derailment while others get the golden child treatment? Running the Asylum while Armed with Canon.Oh, I see what you mean. I really hope it doesn't end up like those kind of episodes, either, though I'm inclined to think it will. :/
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.I can be the same there, I find it really frustrating really. It's one reason You Go, Girl! is one of my least favorite tropes even if I agree with idea of equality.

Some people get the show a week early. I wasn't sure if there actually was a new character.
