All sounds good. I wonder which version of the Spectre they'd use.

I'm sure it'll be good, since I like Del Toro and love a lot of those characters. But I'm also guessing it'll flop financially.

The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.

Holy crap this is really happening?! Honestly this is awesome....and really sad that a team up of more obscure supernatural characters is getting made before Justice League.

OTOH these characters are much more awesome than the JL characters.

This sounds really good. It's actually a good niche which Marvel hasn't done already.

Yes. Plus, IMO DC's supernatural characters are quite a bit stronger than Marvel's in the first place (mostly due to the Vertigo imprint).

Well, now that you mention it, I'd be up a for a Blade-Ghost Rider-Doc Strange movie or something. Would be fun.

Still, all support for this project. In Del Toro We Trust.

Maybe after the Dr Strange movie, they could do Midnight Sons or something like that.

Dr. Strange is pretty good, and I hope he gets a film some time - Marvel will probably want to diversify their films before people get tired of superheroes. Ghost Rider and Blade... eh, I can take them or leave them. Their existing movies were pretty forgettable.

I think a Marvel equivalent (in spirit) of this film would be a Marvel Knights film tbh.

DC has kicked Marvel's ass in the supernatural department LONG before they had Vertigo. DC has a long history of supernatural characters. Marvel's got Dr.Strange and...what, Blade/Dracula?

I think the Phantom Stranger might have been a better choice than the Spectre, given that the Sepctre is usually portrayed as nigh-omnipotent. Also, with the Spectre and Deadman around, that gives you two ghosts, and who wants two ghosts?

I surprised they got the rights to Constantine and Swamp Thing; those have been tied up for years.

You've got Brother Voodoo and I think Daimon Hellstrom too. And there's some dream guy too, but I don't know much about him. Magik could probably also count as a supernatural hero.

[up][up][up]Isn't Phantom Stranger supposed to be on par with the Spectre in some continuities?

I don't really like the concept behind the Spectre to be honest. He is either pissing away his time going after petty murderers while warlords and dictators run around willy nilly committing war crimes or he is getting worfed like no tomorrow.

Marvel Supernatural/Horror characters off the top of my head: Dr. Strange, Blade, Dracula, Ghost Rider, Son of Satan, Satana, Brother Voodoo, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, Morbius.

OK, they exist. I don't think anyone's denying that. But (aside from Strange; and I haven't read any of it, but from what I've heard Man-thing sounds pretty cool) they're mostly not very interesting.

I haven't read most of DC's supernatural lineup, so I guess I could say the same thing about them.

It depends on how you define supernatural. Super heroes are super natural. As the genre is usually understood not all of the characters you are listing fit into it, at least not as they are most commonly portrayed. Even Zatanna is usually more of a fantasy character.
