Sweet! Seeing a strong woman in the Empire hunting down a good guy. That'd be a nice change of pace from the boys' club that the OT made Imperial command out to be.

This seems to confirm that the Imperial Remnant is a thing. Still strong enough to have a military force, but also reduced plenty enough that there's a plot worth of space where they don't have influence so they have to send Brianne of Tarth.

Thought of the day; would it be awful if Mara Jade was canon in the films, but already dead?

I'm still convinced she'll be in there, and wearing Karan Gillian's hair.

Is Badass Digest a credible source at all, though???

At this stage, nothing is. This is a JJ Abrems film.

Remember who we are dealing with.

And can I say I look forward to Rian Johnson's vision for the sequels.

Karen actually confirmed she'll be using that wig for a new show. If its being used for something else, doubt its being used for Star Wars...

That said there's a small, tiny chance Mara Jade could still appear with or without Amy Pond hair, but I wouldn't count on it.

Ah, it wouldn't be worth while without Amy Pond's hair.

I thought Karen said Marvel made a wig from her hair and gave it to "the Star Wars people."

EDIT: here's the article in question.

Does her hair appearing in the movie count as an acting credit?

I'd assume for the hair though. Not for her.

I'd heard he'd lost weight, but he looks pretty good for his age there.

Yup, he looks like the head of a Jedi Order. If he gets better directing than the prequels did, this should be a worthy movie for sure. Assuming the rest of the cast is good too.

I only hope that a new Jedi Order will be less orthodox for seemingly no reason but TRADITION!

It'll have to be. Their Grandmaster never received the full training to be a traditional Master.

I prefer if it stays more ridig and priest-like as it was in the prequels, if less-close minded.

On the other hand, there's something to be said for having an innocuous scene — farmer working his field, a desk jockey filing reports, some dude tuning a speeder engine, etc — where suddenly bad guy mooks bust in and start shooting up the place, only for the guy to whip out a lightsaber and go to town.

The EU had a really interesting idea that never got elaborated on, the idea that the Jedi needed to be out among the people rather than secluded in some monastery. That's what I'd like to see — go, receive your training, come back prepared to seek whatever life you wish to pursue. Only now you're also a certified keeper of the peace.

This needs to be a meme.

"whip out a lightsaber and go to town" just sounds like innuendo for a porno.

Yeah, that's going to be part of a Star Wars porno, I just know it. Copyright the phrase, stat!

Oh, and, yeah. Have the Jedi out doing good deeds for people instead of locking themselves up.

We were only focusing on the Council for much of the prequel Trilogy. Wouldn't surprise me if they were out doing oddjobs. There's also the failed-Jedi who were farmers and others that preferred to help out in small ways and not use a lightsaber.

[up][up]Not just doing good deeds, but actually living among the people. It ensures they never lose touch, and they become a beacon of light and aid to their neighbors.

This also has the side benefit of keeping the order from being wiped out in one fell swoop.

I think part of the Order should do that, but I feel it is also essential for them to have their headquarters for strategic planning and information keeping (such as the "Holocron Library") as well as military functions (though they'd need to seriously improve their defense mechanisms).
