It used to be a comic in the experimental Flight anthology. Then, it was compiled into a complete collection. And now, Michel Gagne wants to do a traditionally animated film.

Just telling.

Okay, so the movie will start being animated sometime in November. The plans have changed, and now it will be longer than 40 minutes. That means Michel is thinking of a way to expand backstories, add character development, and other details. They already have several test scripts, but trying to write a few more so there will be more to choose from. Michel will be directing, so he will have the final say.

[up] Great to hear that they're Michel to direct it. grin

Anyhow, test scripts? Hmm, I kinda picture this movie to not be so full of dialogue a la the first half of WALL-E.

Unless those scripts are for a narrator? That might be pretty rad having the movie like a documentary.

And this may be wishful thinking, but if this is gonna have a narrator, I kinda want to hear Peter Cullen do it.

There will be no dialogue by the characters. By test scripts I meant they have written several versions and will do a few more before choosing one.

So, with the movie entering production, all the material Michel did for his original blog is now free for everyone to see.

Apparently, [citation needed] actual production will start next year.

Decided to say it now, instead of bumping the thread with it later, having no real content, and disappointing everybody.

Michel has finally started full production (animation) on the Saga of Rex movie last year, in September. The script was ready for some time before that.

Reminder for everyone that the Kickstarter was sort of cancelled, in favor of doing the movie with a bigger budget a few years down the line (few years being last year now).

Wait....... I thought at least some people over here cared?

No, we do care. (At least I do.)

It’s just things have been so quiet and we don’t really have the means to follow Kickstarter updates if we're not backers. (Even if said KS got canceled, which speaking of, we're probably gonna have to update this thread's title so it's just The Saga of Rex.)

But yes, it's good to hear this movie going to go somewhere.

(By the way, did anyone know Michel Gagne did work on last year’s My Little Pony: The Movie?)

[up]He talks about it all the time. Pretty much all magic effects in the movie were by him.

And it was the Kickstarter that allowed a european producer to take notice and offer Michel money to make a larger scale production, with theatrical distribution (at least over there).

The european deal went through somehow (he did not get into details for now), but the updated script is still a-go, and the movie is FINALLY back in (somewhat) full production: leenk

Why would it stop being available?
